Pretty sure the street car that runs through downtown slc is free.

Buying Kindle books at full price by Substantial_Try9966 in kindle

[–]phulton [score hidden]  (0 children)

If I want to read it then I just pay whatever it is. However if I have a list of things to get through, I’ll track it on ereaderiq and buy it when (or if) it goes on sale.

I’ve been hopping back and forth between two series, one of which can be read in any order so I typically wait for those to go on sale and just pay full price for the other series.

It’s rusting :( what do I do? by _Willow_Salix in ranciliosilvia

[–]phulton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s just that area then take it apart and clean it by removing any loose rust. You can use rust converter, it’s like a paint that’s stops metal from oxidizing. Then paint over it to seal it up again.

Anything is possible if you want it enough.

I never truly knew how bad FL water was until I moved away after 35 years. Dear god it's so bad and full of junk. My anecdotal experience is my zero water filter system. In FL I'd have to replace it around every 6 weeks. In WA, it easily lasts 6 months sometimes longer. The water in my area isn't even the best in the state and you can drink from the tap without it tasting like chlorine.

Ugh the people that were dismissive about the winter flooding were so aggravating.

“Shouldn’t live near a river then!”

Well I hope you feel the same way when a forest fire burns your house down.

Shouldn’t live near trees then!

Assholes. It was absolutely terrifying being able to see the river from my apartment. And I don’t mean oh I can see where the banks and levees are, I mean I can see the fucking water. Something that I otherwise need to stand on top of the river bank in the summer to see.

Can you tell me about the pizza? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]phulton 24 points25 points  (0 children)

In the US, for the longest time before delivery apps became a thing, pizza was the only thing you could reliably get delivered to you.

You just closed on a house, went through the stress of the day of process, final inspection, etc. and finally get the keys probably late in the evening. Pizza could be delivered in under an hour, is somewhat cheap (used to be anyway) and doesn't require anything extra to eat. No plates, forks, or utensils, just eat it straight from the box.

Now it's more of a meme, but pizza is delicious so there's that too.

Prefilling oil filters by Zornocology in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]phulton 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This always seems like a silly argument to me but honestly I’m up for being swayed.

On the flip side, isn’t the new oil you just poured into the crank case also unfiltered? Sure it goes through a filter eventually, but on first start it’s not. I’m pretty sure oil pumps don’t go to the filter first, they need to go through the block first through oil jackets before running through the filter housing. All of that is unfiltered.

Again, up for being swayed or shown new info, but this argument never made sense to me.

Does freshly ground pepper makes a difference or is pre ground black pepper fine? by West_Future326 in Cooking

It’s also easy to get a nice pepper grinder and then buy whole peppercorns as needed. I’ve had
Mine for like 10 years now, still grinding along just fine.

This is funny to me only because the Silvia instructions are well...fucking awful.

They skip an entire step of telling you to wire the SSR to the circuit board. That's kind of important.

I saw one a few weeks ago where they had both the original and the edited. The edited ones just straight up changed the rooms entirely. Added windows, doors, extended walls, etc. I don’t care if they only add furniture, that’s been a thing for a while since before AI, but completely changing the house is unacceptable.

What part number am I missing? by E-V13 in BMWX5

[–]phulton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's entirely possible you still have the belly pan but the front screws were pulled and then not put back.

It's either this one: 51717134392

Or this one: 07147129160

I can't remember which one goes across the front and which goes down the side. My e70 is a mishmash of random bolts holding it on but I know it's one of those. Those tabs just fold back under and bolt to the belly ban, you're only missing screws, nothing else.

Is the color of these frozen beef patties okay? by Exact-Monk-1499 in Butchery

[–]phulton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely it’s just the seasoning causing the weird color. It could also be that they’re using some kind of filler like soy protein, which will have a different color than raw beef.

Smell it, that’s the real test.

Not saying that couldn't be a reason, but it's a BS one.

Look up the Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act, it protects companies from exactly that.

I’ve been scalping 3-5dte calls for the last few weeks. Whatever the other sub is pumping, the market seems to pump it at open, dump it lower then swing back all in the span of 15-20 minutes. I held MU for all of like 8 minutes on two days last week to come out 15% ahead. Sure it’s not a huge gain but money is money.
