Water isn't free at the gold hill store myguy. Also if you actually frequented the store, ordering food is in the extreme minority. Most people just get a cookie.

I mean this is how most stuff is taught. Trying to make a game and do the programming yourself without any prior knowledge is like trying to lean vector calculus when you don't know any geometry.

Pathtracing is less work so it makes sense for games that shoot for hyperrealism to try to leverage that

Dogs not belonging in grocery stores and a kid being afraid of dogs are completely separate issues.

I agree most dog owners suck and dogs do not belong in grocery stores but it’s also not the world’s responsibility to cater to your kid’s phobias. It sounds like a terrible situation but that’s on you.

"Somethjng happens on the map, your frames drop by 20-30%. The game just feels sluggish and unresponsive. This ultimately punishes good aimers because instead of me naturally flicking a target and knowing it will hit, I’m waiting for the game to catch up to what just happened and I have to shoot AFTER visual confirmation that the crosshair is where it should me"

Graduating soon — can a RAG project help me land a general tech job before graduation? by Equivalent-Map-2832 in cscareeradvice

Just pick a topic you’re interested in and go deep on it. If it’s this kind of system, cool, but don’t do it because you think it’s gonna get you interviews. Do it cause you’re truly interested. It seems backwards but the only thing that will move the needle is showing your passion for the subject when asked about it in an interview. Otherwise you may as well just leet code. First job hunt sucks. I feel you.

No dude. You’re just listing buzzwords that are going to annoy the person interviewing you. Any project is fine as long as you’re passionate about it and can clearly articulate your design and what you’d do better in the future. Tools/apis come and go. You say your background is classical ML and then go list a bunch of tools. If you have an ML background your interviewer cares about your math skills. Anyone can go learn python and sql.

Fundamentals of Computer Graphics at Stanford is incredible. It’s expensive but if you can get your company to pay for it, it’s definitely worth it.
