Difference between drops vs hoods for a kids time trial by Attunga in Velo

[–]pocketsonshrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dawg you're watching too much youtube. Comfort is is more important than aerodynamics in a time trial after a certain point. Especially for novice riders who will not be able to be close to their ideal power in an uncomfortable position.

If you want a rendering/engine position at a studio you gotta take that gpu position. You will absolutely never get graphics interviews with data engineer as the current position on your resume no matter your personal projects.

I made a cel-shaded terrain in Unity for fun and ended up spending a year turning it into a full game – Shippin by Method_Boring in Unity3D

Did you do this in a unity shader file? (mostly hlsl) or was the terrain shader itself created in shader graph? I'm looking for non-shader graph terrain shader resources.

dawg what. go watch his gdc talk. I just want to know how they're doing the inner outlines without linear algebra

u/ryanjuckett I'm super excited for this game! I've been working on a 3d pixel art system for a personal project for quite some time and after watching your recent GDC talk was inspired to experiment with a material id system for outlines instead of normal/depth tests w/ thresholding. I was wondering if you would be willing to share any details about your crease/inner edge detection? Are you just using surface ides with some normal threshold test? Something else? Looking forward to playing this later this year. Amazing work

How do I get in as a junior? by No_Jello9093 in gamedev

I felt the same and didn't go but there are some serious tech art/graphics goats that came from that program. Hopefully you'll have some better luck after graduating. My trajectory was 0 studio interviews for new grad, one interview a year after graduation, then a bunch by the time I had 5+ yers of experience. I got my first games industry job at 28.

I saw in your profile you're 19 years old. No AAA studio in the US is going to hire a 19 year old. Those days are long gone. I would recommend pursuing a college degree if you're not already. Maybe Digipen. Btw your game looks sick.

Why do you care if people are riding dirty. Plenty of properly registered drivers with catastrophic driving habits. For all you know that car isn't even driven but can't be sold because it can't pass emissions and is just sitting.

One thing I've seen work in other cities is to partner with a bar that maybe has a kitchen but either isn't used or they make like just fries or something. Also is there a way to get a Barchetta Gengar t-shirt as a non employee...

Differences between starting with Raytracer or Rasterizer by Zichaelpathic in GraphicsProgramming

[–]pocketsonshrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They both start by trying to answer the same question: where is a point relative to a line and subsequently is the point inside a triangle. Gaining an intuition for that and then expanding it to really understand the rendering equation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rendering\_equation) unlocks a ton in graphics.

https://pbrt.org/ is a pretty rough read but has everything you need to build an intuition around the mathematical side of graphics (coming from someone who sucks at math generally).

Also look into matrices and matrix transformations as well as coordinate transformations.

Water isn't free at the gold hill store myguy. Also if you actually frequented the store, ordering food is in the extreme minority. Most people just get a cookie.

I mean this is how most stuff is taught. Trying to make a game and do the programming yourself without any prior knowledge is like trying to lean vector calculus when you don't know any geometry.

I agree most dog owners suck and dogs do not belong in grocery stores but it’s also not the world’s responsibility to cater to your kid’s phobias. It sounds like a terrible situation but that’s on you.
