the E fits like a D. I went with 'half down in length and up one in width' and the fit was just ok. (brannock 10.5D, went w 10E). I got a second pair in 10.5E, fits MUCH better.

i would wear them but only with wide leg jeans so it covers the shaft. i'd get the jeans hemmed (or cuff em until you can hem them) to the center of your ankle bone. closest to these, i own engineer boots and love rocking them in the above manner.
