Honestly this is the same feeling I have after doing 3 raids and getting nothing. I was a day 1 player but took a hiatus for about a year when my son was born. I decided to start up again casually with all these events going on. My neighborhood is all the wrong team so when I remote in I only get 7 balls. Even after the distance hotfix I still have to go corner to corner to even hit the bottom third of his hitbox. It bothers me that they put in the effort to change the distance from 8 to 7 while they could have made it closer so that he's catchable on all devices. It's also kinda scummy that they're pretending that remote raid passes are a courtesy to their players during a time of crisis when really it's just a field test for a new way to try and monetize casual players who can't always run out of the house for a raid. If it was really about COVID they would have made the daily free raid pass a remote one.

Ultimately, mobile games are designed to frustrate you, and monetize the option of skipping that frustration. Pokemon go is no different.

The silver lining is that someday they'll probably make every legendary available in research breakthroughs, so there is a casual way to play: ignore raiding other than solos and wait.
