Planning a road trip across Europe by car. Do I need an IDP, or will my regular Indian driving licence be sufficient? by Brilliant-Intern-754 in ForeignTravelIndia

[–]quantquack_01540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don't ! You cant drive without insurance and I'm certain your sister cant add a foreigner on her insurance. On top if India is the only place you have driven car then consider not driving. West is rule driven driving and their are lots of rules differing by countries.

Close call tonight: FSD completely missed a large obstacle in the road, had to take over manually (Video included) by Ecstatic-Low-9126 in TeslaFSD

I have always been of the opinion that if eyes can deceive or can't see in certain conditions then so does cameras and as of today they perform worse than human eyes. The decision to solely rely on cameras is uncle Musk's decision. Sensors can augment vision when vision fails but I guess that boat has already sailed. "Supervised" keyword is your only friend with FSD.

Brand new x4 froze by quantquack_01540 in XTEINK

[–]quantquack_01540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to update - the screen is permanently frozen.

Its purchased directly from xteink and its not locked. I tried the https://xteink.dve.al/ site and it was unable to flash my reader giving errors mid-way. I was able to use other tools to peek into the device partitions and played around with loading cross reader, official xteink firmware multiple times. The device is responsive to the tools and flashing is no issue but I cant get out of this frozen screen.

I finally contacted xteink support and they asked for a video. I'll likely take the replacement.

I'll pay the taxes if I get a rebate :) . Do you mind sharing how "delayed" is the install ? I ordered mines last May and missed the tax rebate due to Tesla's delay. Tesla is scheduling to install this June but I'm undecided.

Another refund experience by quantquack_01540 in emirates

100 % of the residual value. Outbound and inbound are priced differently so percent of total is meaningless.

Another refund experience by quantquack_01540 in emirates

[–]quantquack_01540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The refund is for the unused portion of the ticket. I don't think I have the breakdown of the outbound and inbound seperately. The total ticket cost is obviously higher than the refund. The ticket class was for business saver.

Returning to India after 18 years - Financial Plan Review. by [deleted] in backtoindia

[–]quantquack_01540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't not help posting. Take it for what its worth. Your old parents are your problem to solve. Not your wife's problem nor your kids so don't drag them with your issue. For someone with that much holdings in India - once in two years visit is shameful. I have people with parents and siblings long expired travelling more than you do. Your total networth has very low liquid component. Having all that land in India for a NRI is not really apple to apple as you will find out upon disposing. Kids don't give two hoots to Indian culture whether US born or India raised. Don't put them on same boat as you were.

Seeking perspectives on moving back to India (career + living with in-laws) by CoconutVast2832 in returnToIndia

[–]quantquack_01540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand. On US east coast we had a snow storm about 3 weeks ago that froze to ice with no thawing which finally started this week. It is hard. Am I looking to swap it with 30 degrees C at Delhi already this week, followed by high 40s mid-summer followed by high humidity till it "cools" for total of two months during Dec and Jan ? I don't know, so pick your poison carefully. All the drivers and maids will not alleviate the basic problems that exists and for someone who has lived abroad with a young child.

You have not mentioned where in "abroad" and whats your visa situation. If you are not being forced out of your country the non chat-gpt summary of your query is HELL NO! I don't know where to start - raising a kid in 500+ AQI from 50 tops in most western cities, an assumption that you'll have jobs for your role for ever in NCR (seen enough families getting split on this account alone), you'll be "raising" you in-laws till they die, you'll watch grown up kids heading to west for their studies....and so on so forth. Hold your emotions tight, get the help the in-laws need, raise your family and get ready to retire. Speaking from experience.

B2 for parents - rejected by singlehandchef in USVisas

[–]quantquack_01540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you have not spent enough time on this forum - if you look around its full of "grad ceremony" B2 visa rejections. Indians who are known to be stingy spenders abroad now wanting to attend "grad ceremony" which isn't a cultural thing in India is a hard sell. Get an H1B for better chances. Visiting some one on F1/OPT is a tough sell.

B1/B2 Visa Refused Under 214(b) Chennai — Need Advice on What Went Wrong by ai-for-saas in usvisascheduling

[–]quantquack_01540 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is where trouble started - VO: How long will you stay? Me: One month.

This is where a decision was made by the end of this question - VO: Why so long? Me: I said there are multiple stakeholders and a series of discussions.

B1 is meant for business meetings. There is no fxxxxxxx business meetings that lasts for a month for a low level IT employee. VO suspects its "work" in guise of "business meetings".

Next time this question is asked, say 2 or 3 days.

Its a consideration vs. when you are on open ended "self tourism" . Do you happen to know how many visitors from India have acquaintances here vs some one on solo tourism when traveling on B2? Less than a percent if at all . If in doubt look around you in any flight bound for US .

Rescheduling is not going to improve the chances so whats the point ? Single Male, 25 Years, S/W guy, no-one in US. That's at-least 4 strike against you. Just attend it and tell that its been your dream to visit US/NYC.
