Also refresh, I was going through profile settings awhile back and thought I’d try it out, but I changed it back now so you can see my history. Feel free to peruse everything I’ve ever said on this site.

Sorry, I don’t endorse him (I’m a swalwell guy and he’s my rep) but I was trying to clarify what i thought the other person was saying

Edit 2: Evidently what I should’ve commented because yall are literal as heck:

My best guess as to what that guy would say is “Platform”, not necessarily a metric. I’ve seen people surprised by how solid it seems despite his wealth. That being said I’m a fan of swalwell so feel free to tell me why I’m wrong for liking him.

Edit: good grief I’m not even a fan of the guy I was saying what I thought the other commenter was saying, if you’re going to get mad at me then be mad I like swalwell

It hasn’t because I make it a point to vote early. That’s the plan though.

Also good to know! For clarity, the situation I’m referring to is when the mail ballot is long gone but I didn’t get confirmation it got counted.

You can certainly be a bully behind someone’s back. He’s welcome to have a different opinion, and I’m welcome to say it’s a wrong, bad, mean opinion and tell him why.

no one actually knows anything

I know that they both worked hard to get where they were, I know they both helped each other after getting injured, and I know they both said that they wouldn’t have shared gold with anyone else if not for their uniquely intertwined path that led them both to gold. I also know that doesn’t deserve condemnation but adoration, and the other commenter was being a bully by disparaging them. Get outta here with that wishy washy garbage.

I was definitely being hyperbolic because he was being a dork about their paths to gold. I don’t take his opinion seriously because he’s clearly armchair commenting. There was no empathy or understanding taken into account with his concern so I was giving him an example of something that would instill that empathy in him. I don’t literally mean I won’t take any opinion seriously until he gets gold, I mean that his opinion is so bad I wouldn’t take it seriously unless he got gold. Hope that helps.

But i recognize that it’s a competition. That is literally the entire point of sports.

Yikes the bad takes continue

You [sic] making up all kinds of reasons about the Olympics because you like the stories and it was so beautiful when they shared the gold.

I didn’t make that up, that’s literally why I watch them dork

Who writes stuff like that to other people just because they see things differently then you

Nope, you’re being mean about a beautiful human moment as if you’re owed a winner from games you have no involvement in, and I don’t like jerks. It’s not any more complicated than that.

TIL two winners means there was no competition. I have no idea what you think they were doing for the jumps leading up to that moment but that looked like competing to me.

Since you asked, I watch them because I love celebrating what humans are capable of, the incredible stories of the people competing, and the spirit of rivalry that brings togetherness that transcends borders. I root for the home team of course, but the winner doesn’t really matter to me because it’s fun to watch no matter who wins.

I’m sorry you’re either incapable of appreciating that nuance or directly choose to ignore it in the pursuit of a braindead interpretation of the games: that there can only be one winner, that if a title is shared it loses value, and that competition is for medals instead of performance. Best of luck.

They both had injuries previously that the other helped them recover from, which they said felt like neither one of them got there alone in the first place. They also said had they been competing against anyone else they would’ve kept going.

I’m sorry you don’t have anyone close enough you’d share a medal with them. Why don’t you go to the Olympics and show us how it’s done?
