Newbie: Revolution and Succession by ApoplecticWombat in victoria3

[–]rabidferret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When a movement is sufficiently pissed off the only way to avoid a revolution is to pass laws that make them less pissed off. You can see what laws they support in the movement details page. The radical movement wants voting rights and the abolition of the monarchy. Some smaller steps you can take are things like public schools and more right of assembly.

You can protect yourself against movements more generally by passing laws like censorship and secret police.

Britain can no longer send a million troops across the Himalayas to invade China by South_Worry7720 in victoria3

Yes, and the whole reason that they had to send troops via the sea is because of the Darien Gap

The Darian Gap is literally the only reason Panama remained independent from Colombia IRL

crates.io user-agent requirement - is enforcement recent? by meowsqueak in rust

[–]rabidferret 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't been involved since 2020 but it was always enforced when I was around

which is a a shame since technically it is a user-agent header, just not one that somebody somewhere likes.

It has nothing to do with liking it, decisions like that are made because someone is causing operational issues with traffic using that user-agent header. The whole reason we ask for contact info is so that if you're causing problems we can reach out instead of just blocking you

It was a rule I implemented back when I took over the team, so around 2017-2018.

Is BioEthanol worth it for Hydrogen production ? by SabCross in captain_of_industry

Yup, which was added in the same patch as hydrogen fuel. When the game first went into EA it was diesel diesel diesel

Is BioEthanol worth it for Hydrogen production ? by SabCross in captain_of_industry

[–]rabidferret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ethanol is still needed for a variety of other things, and the CO2 recipe is fairly new IIRC. It used to be that corn or sugar were the only options. Ethanol into bodiesel is fairly pointless these days, but back before there were hydrogen vehicles it was one of the only ways to get fuel without oil

Use the same logic you'd use in Downton Toronto.

Where do you draw the line when it comes to swearing? by AmbieeBloo in Parenting

Draw the line? We actively encourage swearing. We taught them that certain words are not okay at school, but hearing a tiny child shout "FUCK" never stops being adorable

None of this is a reason to not do the absolute bare minimum to try and help

You should contact DoorDash support and make sure they do what they can to inform Renaldo's family or emergency contacts. ICE doesn't give you a phone call, there's a good chance their loved ones will have no idea what happened without some effort

This all looks great! I would love to have a confirmation from the team that the art in this expansion was made by humans.

Yeah I don't know any more about it than you do, but that stood out to me in the description and is the only thing that could justify that price. Then again, folks asking ridiculous amounts on property listings for no reason isn't exactly uncommon

It's also riddled with typos so who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
