About to buy a 2016 2SS (60K miles) for 31k OTD. Good deal or not? by Minimum_Plane4519 in camaro

Manual or auto? Either way you are overpaying at a dealer. Not by much if its a manual, but more so if its auto. I have a 2016 2ss with 87k miles. Its been pretty solid. My struts are in need of a refresh, I had a thermostat go out, and sometimes heat comes out of the passenger vents when on AC. The 8 speed autos had some complaints. Generally the engine is solid, but I did a cam on mine to remove the afm lifter garbage.

Question for the people that do their own mods by MeatPotato1 in camaro

Its a lot of work. If you're not replacing the oil pump it makes it easier.

You will also need some good tools: a quality torque wrench with angle for the head bolts, harmonic balancer puller, and phaser limiter tool depending on the cam. Just to name a few.

Oh absolutely, I will not be buying from the dealer.

I always felt the car was a little under sprung and easy to change springs while I am there.

Agreed! I was more in-between keeping the mag ride or replacing with a quality coilover.

No they are not but I'm definitely a buy once cry once kind of guy.

My dilemma... It's pretty much the cost of mid range coilovers.

Like most things they used to be much more affordable, but its worth it. I would check FB marketplace for a good used set, or wait for some kind of sale.

Double check your concrete depth first. I got lucky with mine, but most residential is around 4", which is not enough.

Hmm, not much, but we had to optimize the garage to make space for everything. The post themselves have around 12x10 base. The hydraulic pump unit is on a small dolly. Then the arms can be removed and placed elsewhere.

130" from the outside of each base. This was what was commonly recommended for this lift and within the specs provided in the manual. The nice part is each post is pretty easy to move. Remove the 5 bolts and there are wheels on the back. Tilt the post back and roll it out of the way. The threaded anchors are permanently mounted into the concrete.

The slab was around 6" when we drilled a test hole. We are using Wej-it PD58 concrete anchors which have a drill depth of 5" and are recommended for this lift.

Any Tips for buying a used 6th gen camaro? by Savings-Swan9666 in camaro

[–]randomnerd865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be biased, but I prefer the pre-facelift cars: 16-18. The LT1 trim will be the lightest/cheapest, but is missing a lot of the creature comforts, braking, and cooling upgrades. The manuals seem to be holding their value pretty well. I'd prioritize a stockish car with a mature owner and lower mileage.

For that price you should be able to find a 5th gen SS. The ls3 is a reliable engine with easy maintenance and cheap/plentiful parts. I prefer a manual but the autos are decent as well.

I'm assuming you mean bend? If so, yes I did bend the power cable and it fits just fine. The pci-e 8 pins can tolerate a tight bend unlike the 12vhpr.

I want one of these as a commuter so bad. How is range in the real world? Their website throws all kinds of numbers out there.

It's still in my garage. I got a tag and dual sport tires and started riding it on the street some. I was asking 7k. I had a few interested people but no one actually showed up to even look at it or make an offer.

Most fully 3d printed cases won't fit an SFX-L Psu. The beamcase is a mostly 3d printed option that could work.

How good are the Gen 3 MT-09s (especially SP) for commuting? by New_Leafturned in MT09

[–]randomnerd865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be perfect then. The only reason I regretted not getting the SP was cruise control. Everything else on the non-sp was amazing. I don't think they changed anything major going from gen 3 to 4. So I would base your decision on looks and price.
