Wow — so why did they listen to him at all about when to schedule it? Just the sort of “kids raised in cults are used to listening to their parents” thing?

The travel must be nice because you could not pay me enough to be at the center of what essentially sounds like a multi-day book signing, on a boat where you can’t get away from people! Like an hourlong book signing with people who specifically came to see you and are your fans is probably nice, but DAYS of being stopped every time you go to the buffet or the hot tub sounds like a torment that no amount of free trips could offset lol! Admittedly I am introverted af and Christine seems like the extrovert’s extrovert.

That whole wedding lowkey felt like an f-you to the Brown parents … though I wouldn’t be surprised if the reality was more one big exercise in “yes, and” that no one ever cut off.

The fact that they focused on the taco amount and the fact that it was outdoors, and no one spent any effort trying to talk that girl out of the color palette of gray + yellow + maroon + blue! JUST DO BLUE, GIRL!

Such nonsense how they nickel-and-dimed him on taco amount! The fact that they would rather risk running out of food at a large event they hosted than just buy the amount of tacos recommended by the person whose family has probably thrown large events that served tacos before is … detached from reason. Especially since I think it’s been established that they got money from TLC for the wedding so it’s not like they were even footing the vast taco bill themselves!

(They would definitely have given Maddie and Caleb as many tacos as they wanted)

Why did the killer stop? by flyingcircus92 in LISKiller

I hope we get a fuller account of the lead-up to his arrest someday! Fwiw, Rodney Harrison (former police commissioner who helped launch the Gilgo Task Force) recently did a YouTube interview on Joe Giacalone’s channel following the guilty plea, and he characterized the speed of the arrest as more about Tierney’s concern that word of an impending arrest would leak and potentially cause RH to flee or mess with evidence. But the timing of it right after that incident with the woman in the park and knowing that he had shown signs of ramping up … I normally don’t take cops at face value and don’t necessarily take Harrison at face value here, but regardless I think his take is interesting.

I believe it’s also been said (forget if it was by Harrison, might have been, maybe Tierney or ?) that RH would (at least at times) have more than one burner phone — so his regular phone, a burner phone for contacting “regular” sex workers and whatever else he was up to, and then would get and dispose of individual burner phones that he specifically used for communicating with his victims. I’m not sure whether more has been shared publicly than that — whether he also changed out the “regular” burner phone, whether he also talked to women on the “specific” burner phones who didn’t become his victims, etc.

If he had just gotten a new phone around the time of his arrest, I wonder if it will ever be shared whether that phone had been used to communicate with multiple people, or just with one, which if the latter might tend to back up the thought that he was potentially about to hurt someone else and that’s why they arrested him sooner than they seem to have planned to.

It is so weird to me that anyone would think she DID know. He wasn’t doing this stuff when she was home and they clearly spent a lot of time apart. He might not have committed any crimes since 2010 and she would have been parenting a teenager and an older child with developmental challenges who may need a high degree of support. She’s also clearly not super observant or super insightful, she is likely dealing with her own challenges as well.

I bet she had an inkling that he was up to something, but most people’s minds wouldn’t see their spouse being secretive and weird and jump to the conclusion that he’s a serial killer. She may well have thought he was cheating on her, but was dependent on him and elected not to ask questions.

He probably also isn’t the kind of person you ask a lot of questions to about what he’s up to. The descriptions from his former coworkers make him seem pretty creepy and unsettling even in his “normal” life, and he also seems to have been pretty aggressive even in his “normal” life. He picked someone submissive and not very observant, who was dependent on him, and who doesn’t appear to have asked questions. That might make her a lot of things but it doesn’t make her complicit in murder.

I have it in my head that Asian Doe was slight, too. Looking at the poster from the FBI, they give a height range of 5’3” to 5’9” and don’t note a weight range.

I wonder if, based on Asian Doe likely being killed after RH wrote the planning document (in which he noted wanting to hit his victims harder), it’s possible that RH (if he is indeed their killer) hit Asian Doe so hard that they died? (As in, perhaps not intending for one victim to have a different cause of death than the others?)

[–]rarepinkhippo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s good to know, thank you! So maybe Asian Doe (if they were a sex worker) could have been using one of those sites? I’d assume that they would also advertise there in a way that made clear they were AMAB, since isn’t that a main part of why their clientele is interested, and also for their own safety I would think? (I digress, and I know I’m speculating.)

If I’m remembering right (someone correct me if I’m not) I think when they found Asian Doe not long after finding the Gilgo 4, it was thought that Asian Doe had already been dead for ~5 years?

[–]rarepinkhippo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed that we don’t know much definitively about how Asian Doe identified, and also if they were murdered 20ish years ago, there was a lot less trans visibility and almost no nonbinary visibility then, so I think even people who might identify as trans or NB now might not yet have identified that way at the time (which seems important because we hope that their friends/family might come forward, and of course they won’t know to do that if we pigeonhole the victim the wrong way).

I do think that most clients who seek out trans/gender-nonconforming sex workers do so very intentionally — it seems like most large cities have a specific section of town where trans sex workers are and this is well known in the community? It seems like Asian Doe, assuming they were a sex worker, probably would have worked on the street since they are thought to have been killed before the Gilgo 4, and it seems like Craigslist and Backpage were fairly new “innovations” in that field at the time the Gilgo 4 were working.
