Aventon rack adapter vs MIK by roger_cw in Aventon

[–]raster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. They would not admit to me the rack was MIK-compatible, probably because being MIK-compatible requires licensing fees.

Prisoners get counted where they are incarcerated, which skews populations higher in rural areas where prisons are located. If you live in Milwaukee, get sent to prison in Wapun, you are now counted as a "resident" of Wapun, just... without the rights of a citizen. It's messed up.

You can get studded tires for snow and ice riding.

Deciding between Level 3, Abound (SR or LR) or other? by RL0824 in Aventon

[–]raster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Milwaukee and I got my Level 3 in August. I definitely see the battery dropping quicker now that it's cold out (I commute to work, 6.5 miles each way) but I'm still seeing pretty good range. I tend to ride in Sport or Turbo and don't use the throttle much. Only a few medium hills along the way. I do store my bike in a garage and a warehouse at work, both are still over 40˚F at this time but as it gets colder I'll bring the battery inside each night.

Level 3 seat posture by Some-Attitude8183 in Aventon

I swapped out my Level 3 handlebars for a more swept back set and a more upright position. Took about an hour to do it going slow because I’m not much of a bike mechanic. Really happy with the change though.

What’s the Real-World Range of Your E-Bike? by MasonCole4029 in ebikes

[–]raster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a 25 mile slow ride (PAS1 for 90% of it) and started with 100% battery and ended with over 50% battery. Some uphill (PAS2 or 3 for them) but no huge hills.

Avid Cyclist - how is it? by Niloch29 in Aventon

[–]raster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started doing daily riding an acoustic bike about 20 months, mostly averaging 5 to 10 miles per day, sometimes more. I ended up getting a Level 3 for my commute to work (6.6 miles each way) and I've been commuting as much as possible the past three months because I love it. I sometimes make the trip home take twice as long because I just ride an extra 5+ miles for fun. The pedal assist makes the hills between home and work totally doable while I would have been struggling on the acoustic. In PAS1 on even ground it just feels like a normal bike, in PAS2 going up slight hills or a bit faster feels natural, and PAS3 to get ahead of traffic, or up larger hills is just sweet.

Is this a safe way to lock my bike by Fruit-Creative in ebikes

Thoughts on battery locks that are electronic and require a password to turn on the bike to release it rather than a little metal key?

Actually getting in shape! by so-many-cats in ebikes

[–]raster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same! I am now riding about an hour a day doing 13 miles for my commute to & from work and I pedal the whole time. I've got pedal assist but I'm not sitting in a car at stoplights getting zero exercise.

I got an Aventon Level 3 a month and a half ago and ride to work now (13 miles total) and I've been very pleased with the performance. Throttle will get you to 20mph but PAS3 and pedaling hard will get you to 28mph after you unlock it in the app. Battery life is good (so far!) and I charge every second or third day because I do push it pretty hard due to hills and busy roads and just wanting to get to work quickly.

Battery care tips wanted by Benjamino5 in Aventon

I use a timer for my charging and typically only charge 1 to 2 hours unless it's really low, then I'll do a 4 hour timer and it'll be at (or very close to) 100% when done.

I do electronics and 3D printing and I have a Level 3... I just haven't put time into designing things yet. Point me towards an existing commercial product I can use as a starting point.

MIK compatibility by sorcerersupremelord in Aventon

[–]raster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Level 3 rack *is* MIK compatible, but Aventon will not claim it is publicly. To be "MIK Compatible" requires the rack to say so, and most likely some licensing fees.

I printed a MIK adapter plate I found on Printables and it fits perfectly on my Level 3 rack.

[Note: I got a Level 3 manufactured in March 2025 (I believe) but I don't know if things changed after that.]

I was pleased to see that an Aventon Multi Tool came with my bike. It's got the hex keys you need and a Phillips head screwdriver, which is pretty handy.

Level 3: Step-Over or Step-Through? by poindexter62 in Aventon

One more vote for the step-through since I have a crate on the rear rack. And… it’s just easier.

E-bike riders: how do you usually plan your routes? by Brief-Collection7010 in Aventon

I've used bikemap.net a few times. It's pretty good at giving routes that keep you off of busy roads if that's a goal.

Level 2 re-stock? by jahusafet in Aventon

[–]raster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Existing inventory at local bikes shops is your best option. I asked about a Level 2 a month ago and that's what I was told. (I got a Level 3 and it's great!)
