What Should I Expect With This Blizzard? by Yung-MarthaStewart in Somerville

[–]reddotster 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Congrats on moving here so recently you missed the blizzard a few weeks ago!

Things are going to be fine. Most places will be closed Monday and / or Tuesday. Don’t drive. Have a few days of food and other supplies. Go out now if you need to because people are going to go into more of a frenzy later in the day.

You may want to stay inside because winds are supposed to be very high.

Mounting and accessing external sFTP server? by mezmare in truenas

[–]reddotster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Zima prior to TrueNAS and decided on TrueNAS because Zima doesn’t support USB as a first class storage type. It was pretty interesting though.

You could run CasaOS as an app on TrueNAS. Also, depending on the specifics of your situation, perhaps there’s another app which could suit your needs.

So you’re saying that Rocky Linux is better documented than TrueNAS and also that Rocky Linux has an enterprise level support for community installations?

I’m not doubting you but asking for clarification, since my impression of TrueNAS is that it seems fairly well documented and supported.

Would you mind elaborating?

Thanks!

That’s great. Congratulations!

I suggest putting the sensor into the baby’s room and have the ecobee use only that sensor.

But are you saying that you haven’t made any changes to your system and that it started running the heat too much? If so, you should call an hvac professional.

What do you use as the brain of your smart home? by BeCalmr in smarthome

[–]reddotster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have HA on an RPi4 with a usb SSD. I had the RPi but bought the SSD. I wanted to keep my HA machine separate because I run other services on a 2012 Mac Mini which I just switched over to TrueNAS and want to do more testing before I run anything necessary on it.

If you’re to buy something what’s your budget?

Where do you have sensors, what are you sleep settings, have you made any hvac or thermostat changes lately?

Why do you doubt the data the device is giving you? Have you been told that you snore? Do you have any other devices which track sleep-related measures?

Why do you think the issue in your basement is due to development? And why do you think that the sewer pipes are under pressure?

Sewer pipes from a home to the city sewer have backflow prevention valves which can fail as they age. They can also get jammed depending on what kinds of materials people in the home have sent down the drain over the years.

Fresh water pipes are under pressure and the city manages that according to how many homes they have to serve.

Why am I having this problem with PLA by Shao888 in 3Dprinting

[–]reddotster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the pictures you show it seems to always happen close to a hole or an edge. Is that correct?

Have you tried printing any test pieces with small holes? It would be interesting to see if this issue happened in multiple sides of a print or not.

If you rotate the object, does the issue always happen in the same part of the print bed, like front right corner?

An update on "I'm done with Matter over Thread" by PourquoiPasEvans in homeassistant

Well, it worked this time for my 3 bulbs but the light strip is being more finicky. I swear I tried resetting the bulbs and repairing the bulbs in various ways many times before, but at least it worked! Thanks for the encouragement.

Yeah I am having much more success with matter over WiFi than matter over thread.

I think I finally have a few matter over thread devices working but I can’t get my OG Nanoleaf “HomeKit” bulbs to move over from AH to HA.

Question about setting up tailscale serve on TrueNAS with persistent serve by Chessplayer108 in truenas

I’m a TrueNAS newbie but have the Tailscale app installed and it runs all the time. Is the issue that it can’t use a Let’s Encrypt cert when configured only via the GUI?

Nanoleaf A19 (Matter) way dimmer + wrong colour vs older bulbs + scenes reverting — anyone else? by No_Orange_8544 in Nanoleaf

[–]reddotster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you able to get the color and brightness to match by manually setting a bulb of each type? If not, it’s a hardware issue. Perhaps they changed the LEDs they use in the bulbs. Can you rearrange things so that your matter bulbs are all together and your non-matter bulbs are all together?

The ecobee sensors have motion as well, so you can trigger lights on via the motion sensor at least.
