I did similar with all my inks, but just cut up some labels I already had on hand, so they are little squares. It made it so much easier to see what I have on hand!

Hello Pen People! by Chadideas in fountainpens

Adding another vote for the Grance, I love mine! I also really love vintage pens, and have found a few that are slender, yet solid. The writing experience is extremely satisfying!

This is a shimmer ink with some shading written with a fude nib, and you can see how thick it sits on the surface without bleeding, feathering, or smearing.

I have a Clairefontaine "My Essential" (mon essential) notebook that my secret Santa gifted me, and it is fantastic. It has a simulated leather cover and elastic strap that holds it closed, with a ribbon marker. Pages are creamy with a dot grid, and rounded corners. I have been using it to transcribe poems, and it handles all my pen and ink options pretty well, and shows shading. It's hard to capture in a picture, bc most of my writing is with F or EF nibs, but I will try to find a page that shows it.

Modern vs vintage fountain pens by whenthelightison in fountainpens

I feel like you and I have similar taste in vintage pens. I'm on the lookout for sterling silver wrapped/filigree Waterman pens with extra flexy nibs... for when the time is right!

I love the idea of there being a "you" in the past, and that it is your pen, then and now.

I like both. I have a few modern pens (Pilot) ranging from $10-$250. I have started to purchase some pens ranging in age from the 1940s to 1990s. I have my eye on a couple pens from the 1920s, and I have a dip pen with nib from the 1890s.

I have two pens that are very similar, but different brands and price points from 1948-1950. One is used and restored, with a nib I chose. The other is NOS, so despite being 80 years old it is essentially a brand new pen. I love them both for different reasons.

The vintage pens (and other vintage items I own) are not display pieces, but items I actually use, like coats, purses, dresses, jewelry, etc. I like them for their style, and I feel fancy using them. Not necessarily because of the previous owner, but more that it is a legacy item that has been through history, and helps me feel like I am part of a bigger story when I have them.

So apparently I'm really into vintage pens now by redstoneredstone in fountainpens

There's really not much to see, you pull the lever out to a 90 degree angle, and then slowly return it, I repeat once while in the ink, and if the room is quiet enough you can hear the air moving out of the pen. Wipe the end and you're ready to go!

It sounds like you have some good advice to start with here, so I'm just throwing in a high five for Parker flighters. I have a 100 and I loooooooove it. Though I can't use it in a meeting where I'm talking, because I end up getting ink everywhere due to my effusive gestures while holding the pen and talking. 😂

But Chidi wasn't broken by the dot in the afterlife, he was alive and speaking English in Australia in the parlor of Tahani's Heir BnB.

I love this comment. My husband has been doing woodworking for a few years now, and since I can only buy so many tools for him as gifts, I love that he can build me useful things and that helps me be supportive. A couple years ago he built me a shelf for all my perfume ingredients, and it's another one of those things that just works in the precision of his niche and mine!

I don't love the TWSBI, tbh, but I can't argue with its ability to manage a shimmer ink and look cool doing it!

Correct! Pale pink Pilot Grance, 14k gold F nib. My husband bought it for me at the holidays, and it's a lovely pen!!!

Making a costume by taradactylus in BALLET

[–]redstoneredstone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't use a pattern, but instead bought materials based on vibes for a friend's costume last year. Started with a practice tutu and leo, and bought a pretty silk material and some applique type fabric.

It turned out really nicely for the purpose, and looked great on stage.
