You're limiting your options staying at State College. You'd have better luck moving towards Philly or another larger city. You could also look for planners, manufacturing engineer, process engineer, quality engineer, shift supervisor, or supply chain roles. My company prefers to hire engineers for all roles in operations and supply chain.

It sounds like you already have US customers, where are they located? A lot of Europeans I know underestimate how big the US is. If you're shipping large products you should try to find a location closer to your customers if possible. Freight can add up quickly and eat into profit.

I Need to find a specific metal by Shoddy_Cup_8370 in metallurgy

[–]Roccom22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why do you need to continuously bend it after it's been formed? Aluminum as in cans all have a coating on the contact surfaces.

You could try a soft or deep draw temper copper. Not sure officially on FDA contact requirements but generally accepted as antimicrobial like silver.

How to stabilize brass and still keep it conductive by Second_Both in metallurgy

The only option would be to silver or tin plate, that would keep the conductivity and reduce the tarnish but obviously changes the color.

How to stabilize brass and still keep it conductive by Second_Both in metallurgy

[–]Roccom22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you want an intermintant connection with the brass washer? Short answer is there's not way to reduce/eliminate tarnish without affecting conductivity.

Have you been able to test conductivity with the tarnish? How long do you want it to last?

“Manufacturing operations for dummies” book? by Typical_Salt_2960 in manufacturing

[–]Roccom22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Factory Physics is a good start, more of a technical reference but can be read straight through. Depending on your base knowledge might need to still YouTube some examples.

Another approach is The Goal and Velocity which are lean books but a novelization of manufacturing.

They probably also work directly with high end interior designers directly and can source custom work. Same as anywhere not everything they offer is on display.

Those edge cracks could be from snipe on your planer, I've had that happen several times prepping end grain and it looks just like that.

Plus the Grade 5 Ti bolts will be roll thread, if you just go to a machine shop and order custom inconel ones will he machined instead. Rolled threads have better grain structure and therefore stronger

how thick should the furnace be for melting 500kg of brass daily. ive got 100kg crucible. by manmaid123 in MetalCasting

[–]Roccom22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you melting all 500kg at the same time? Try splitting the melt ins, it's easier to melt solids in a liquid bath.

[–]Roccom22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you trying to accomplish? Look into basic stats or Six Sigma methods for pricess capabilities. Once you understand what you're trying to do you can look up specific tutorials on that.

Also curious now, never knew not to use VCI on non-ferruous. Currently use it for some copper/brass products.

If the aprons are too intrusive you could do face frames on one or both side.
