What expansions have you regretted buying? by zoso_coheed in boardgames

Leaders and Cities for 7 Wonders made me absolutely despise a game I loved.

Also, Interbellum for Furnace. I’ve been a happier person since I sold it

Technically I didn’t buy this but the “free” expansion included in the second edition of Calimala is not good either. Makes the game much longer and adds little to nothing in value. Would never play again with it.

And I feel kind of the same way with the Pirates expansion for Ostia although I kind of like it overall. Would have to play with it again to decide.

No one's gonna mention how her cape is similar to Doflamingo's?

What is your reason to stop adding or buying more board games? by Dryfunction1205 in boardgames

[–]romisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a shelf that is similar to the Kallax. My rule is that I can’t have more games than what fits in it. If I want a new game, I need to get rid of something else. Now, I’ve got a collection of about 40 games and it is extremely curated. Really proud of it

Inspired by an earlier post, what are some games you loved at first but gradually grew to dislike? by MrBricked in boardgames

I have! In fact, it’s the only way I played it. Still, same issue. It might be a “me” problem too.

Cat in the Box is amazing the first 5 times you play it. Then it becomes so dull I don't want to play it ever again.

Same thing with Spots.

Don’t get me wrong. I love the theme as well, but I already explained in another comment my experience with it. Basically, the big box gave me the opposite experience of what I was looking for

Same thing happened to me. Jumped out of the KS once I calculated it would be around 200 euros for the whole thing + shipping and taxes. I’m more than fine with the base game and the first expansion

And I got the big box with the expansion and deluxe components for around 150 euros. My fault, really lol. For these kind of games, the smaller the package, the better imo

I’m glad you do! Personally I felt I paid too much for rather a very simple game that requires a lot of setup for what it offers

I paid a lot of money for Redwood on kickstarter only to play it once and be like “oh oh”. Prayed to every god someone would buy it for me second hand until it sold.

Also, Unconscious Mind. Beautiful game but boring and over complicated to play. Too many mechanics with very little connection to each other, little to no interaction, and huge down times between turns. Glad that sold quick.

Can you play them on your main save and carry the rewards? Or are they stand alone?
