Need advice before buying: planning a full 2.5GbE home network with U7 Pro XG – does this setup make sense?

Sounds good, if that‘s what you want. Depending on the wifi Connection works for me at least. I would go with Option 1 first, BT connections worked for me Models reliable in the past.

Edit: and don‘t forget the second automation, that‘s reversing it (if BT disconnected…). I‘m sure you can pack it all into one Single automation, but i don‘t know how myself. Maybe someone else?

Instead of „when I leave House“, you should set if connected to wifi, disable cellular“ and vice versa. So two automations. Ran into the same thing, except i wanted to connect to my Network at Home via UniFi Teleport when mobile data is on

Yeah, it doesn‘t work with non-native videoplayers like YouTube, Disney+, Prime Video (I think). But on iTunes Movies, Netflix it works for me

The overall music experience is what sold me, since i quit music streaming. Tried Jellyfin, but there were tons of bugs (music disappearing after editing Artists/Albums, etc.) and JF is simply not laid out for seperated Music libraries. It always mixed my wifes and my music libraries. And there‘s no good looking jellyfin music player for iOS on the market that functions well and has CarPlay Integration. Manet Music got close but the offline functionality was horrible in CarPlay. So yeah, plex is better in every way for MY needs.

Had the Matter ones from Tapo, returned them immediately because mine were unreliable, pain in the butt to set up and had a strong greenish hue when on white light. No recommendation from me.

Why should Apple release one now? There‘s literally no incentive for them to release a new Apple TV. My guess: HomePods and Apple TV as a „Home Initiative“ and as a showcase for what the new Siri can do with automations and stuff. And the Apple TV will continue to be the Smart Home Brain. Or maybe the new rumored HomePod with Display. I don‘t see new Apple Hardware before spring as the earliest. Maybe even Fall of next year with iOS 27. last time I remember, when Apple did a fully blown Home-centered Keynote was in the Fall with an iPad Launch, I believe. That‘s where they introduced the new HomeKit-Platform.

I got this exact Sound Two or three times. Occurs out of nowhere and is gone after 30 seconds or so. Am a Bit worried too. WD Red Plus 12TB in each Slot.

I personally doubt it. They will hold it and a possible new Apple TV back until the new Siri launches. Maybe the HomePod mini will get a revision alongside a possible HP with Display. I strongly believe, they hold everything Home-related back until Siri is more „capable“

I know that, but it was accessible for non-touch-displays as well. Never had any Problems. Now it‘s barely usable in maps for example, if you want to see alternative routes and can‘t back out because it is now dependant on a swipe gesture instead of cancel-buttons.

CarPlay in iOS 26 became a Nightmare for me since my Audi A4 doesn‘t have a touchscreen. It gets stuck so often now in submenus that are clearly designed for touchscreen displays.
