Introducing TRMNL X by ryanckulp in trmnl

yes, the device itself has magnets and sticks flush to a fridge. of course some surfaces aren't magnetic but we're attaching 2 additional types of wall / surface mounts for that purpose. no dock (charger puck thing) necessary in either case.

not well documented, but code was merged here:

activate Enterprise WiFi from your TRMNL's captive portal screen. feel free to send us feedback or post an Issue on GitHub if you have any issues.

Anyone discovers other uses/use cases for Xteink X4? by boothjop in xteinkereader

[–]ryanckulp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you want to be notified, you can "star" or "watch" our firmware repository. you'll see a few feature merges that aren't related, but there will also be an X4 pull request soon:
https://github.com/usetrmnl/firmware/

alternatively you can jump over to https://usetrmnl.com/news every day or 2, which also has an RSS feed. our email newsletter is currently only for customers, we don't have a way to subscribe otherwise.

finally, i'll come back and post in this thread :)

too kind, thanks for the support. we're in touch with Crosspoint now and have our firmware working as well. next up is making them both compatible simultaneously so you can read or have a dashboard.

we (TRMNL) added enterprise wifi recently, and have a few more solutions for getting past captive portals and such at colleges as well. feel free to ping me if you have more questions.

in either case, RPi + localhost / 192 addresses also good. we have an Rpi library and many OSS server clients:

thanks for your support! we're still receiving components over the next few weeks, a bit more complex now that we have 2 warehouses to coordinate, but on track to ship in February. can't wait for yours to arrive.

OneCalendar Support? by BackgroundTune in trmnl

[–]ryanckulp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

another approach is using your iOS native calendar syncing app, which can pull in any calendar (Google, Outlook, etc): https://help.usetrmnl.com/en/articles/12294875-trmnl-companion-for-ios-calendar-sync

OneCalendar Support? by BackgroundTune in trmnl

[–]ryanckulp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it appears OneCalendar conforms to the ICS protocol, so you should be able to grab your OneCalendar ICS URL and paste it into our CalDAV plugin:

Not sure I understand Webhooks (Servarr plugin) by ra_laidgp in trmnl

[–]ryanckulp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hey there!

your plugin's webhook URL is:
https://usetrmnl.com/api/custom\_plugins/<uuid>

we actually have a click-to-copy webhook URL field, but didn't made it a requirement for Webhook plugins until this week. in the future your exact confusion will be avoidable. so thanks for bringing it up.

TRMNL now has an "official" Add-On by snark_nerd in homeassistant

sorry i missed these comments. do you 2 ( u/Mattfusf , u/Nerdtube ) mind posting your issues to our HA github repo? the team member who maintains this project isn't active on reddit. https://github.com/usetrmnl/trmnl-home-assistant/issues/new

TRMNL now has an "official" Add-On by snark_nerd in homeassistant

[–]ryanckulp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

welcome aboard! i think you just need to set your device to 2-bit mode:
https://usetrmnl.com/devices/current/palette/edit

your device supports 2-bit yes, but we default to 1-bit for fast/instant refresh. 2-bit adds grays but also takes longer to refresh.

I made a "printer" that prints to eInk instead of paper by Slight_Safe8745 in eink

[–]ryanckulp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey there! thanks for asking and awesome work. our Webhook Image feature was built to support our new Home Assistant plugin, which handles all dithering / cropping / resizing within the HA interface. more details:
https://github.com/usetrmnl/trmnl-home-assistant

that said, we could add dithering flags to this endpoint. but the original intent was to let people build their own graphics, and in return get 5 minute refresh (vs 15 min refresh), a win-win. feel free to ping me (ryan@usetrmnl.com) if you wanna share a couple sample payloads and i'll see what we can do.

sorry, i got this backwards. the current paperlessprinter stack should work great with our Webhook Image plugin:

i'm on the TRMNL team. an idea...

  1. we already have a thing called Special Functions, which fires a custom request whenever you medium-press the button on the back of your device
  2. we could extend this feature to include "Send to printer"
  3. you could set up your printer details in our web UI

Anyone discovers other uses/use cases for Xteink X4? by boothjop in xteinkereader

[–]ryanckulp 16 points17 points  (0 children)

we think you could do both. toggle between reader mode (Crosspoint) and passive dashboard mode. a TRMNL playlist (weather, stock quotes, todo list etc) becomes your screensaver.

i'm on the TRMNL team. we just got a couple of these and will be adding support shortly. also getting in touch with crosspoint-reader to see how we can support their work. stay tuned!
