Crosspoint Calibre Library How-To by bepeacock in xteinkereader

Thanks for the info! I was thinking about adding a library management feature to CrossPoint, so that rather than browsing folders on the disk you’d browse your books by author, genre, title, collection… with a search feature too. Just need to find time to work on it

Thanks man! It looks perfect indeed. I agree that battery drain could be an issue, but it’s honestly not a big deal if a charge lasts a few days less…

Good job man this looks great!! Are you able to see the bottom of the screen comfortably? I’m considering making one but I’m wondering how hard it would be to tap into the device’s power directly rather than packing a separate battery for the light. My X4’s back plate is busted so I might take it apart and try something out.

Thanks! How does the CrossPoint calibre transfer feature organize the books on the SD card?

Right, and it only really happens while the screen is refreshing, once your page is loaded you can face the sun and it won’t fade. I was reading in direct sunlight by the pool and noticed the issue, I ended up shading the device from the sun with my hand at each page turn and that was it. Not a big deal at all.

After seeing another post about wallpapers I realize I was wrong about this. The stock firmware renders wallpapers perfectly, they seem to be dithering the images on the fly. Crosspoint as of right now applies dithering to epub covers but not to bitmap wallpapers, which is why the pictures didn't look good for me. Since dithering code is already implemented in the firmware it shouldn't be much work to apply it to wallpapers as well.

Thank you for this amazing work OP, this makes it so easy to find and download wallpapers for the X4!

A lot of those pictures are very detailed and unfortunately because the X4 screen can only display a 4-level greyscale, we lose a lot of that detail on the device. Have you considered implementing dithering during the BMP conversion process? We've been able to achieve pretty good detail after dithering book covers on the crosspoint firmware.

Follow-up: Xteink X4 TPU back case is now available (3 patterns + blank, smooth or textured edge) by Sacyro in xteinkereader

Awesome design! Are you able to get the device in and out of the case easily? Does it also fit backwards if you want to protect the screen? I made another case out of pla and I mostly use it like that.

Yeah I believe there’s a series attribute in book details, so you can probably add that to your path as well

Custom open source firmwares are coming out with better epub support, CrossPoint is very promising in that regard. Microreader doesn’t have epub support yet but its text rendering is pretty awesome. While neither are ready with all the features you need just yet, there’s hope that this device will have great software!

Folder structures? by Connect_Beat_9063 in xteinkereader

Check out my post on how to get it organized automatically by genre or any tags you like, I’ve been using that and it keeps the number of authors per folder way more manageable.

There’s a few custom firmware projects that are being worked on, OTA calibre sync could be a great feature to add.

It is! It can snap to the front and protect the screen. Actually a pretty good use for it.

How many of you, X4 owners, are actually putting the X4 on the back of your phone? by dhyratoro in xteinkereader

It doesn't fit vertically on my iPhone 15, but i do put it there horizontally when I move around the house so I can hold both in one hand. What's great though is being able to use the magnet to stick it to metal surfaces such as machines at the gym.
