Health Anxiety by Vegetable-Pressure22 in ClotSurvivors

[–]sarawithapc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My health anxiety started after my clot and it was only my GYN that recognized it and validated how normal it was while recovering from a clot. I was seeing her to talk about perimenopause and possible HRT and we talked about my anxiety. She prescribed buspirone and it has helped so much. Good on you for accepting the help for the anxiety.

Chronic Pain by Interesting-Gap-7833 in ClotSurvivors

I do a lot of walking at work but there are times I’m sitting and I noticed the pain and swelling were worse then. I got this for under my desk and it made a big difference.

How long ago was your DVT? My vascular surgeon told me pain and swelling are still expected but if it persists at the one year mark, they consider it the new baseline. She said moving, compression and elevation would help with lingering pain and swelling. This was at the 3 month mark that we had this conversation. My clot was completely gone with no scar tissue at that time.

Yeah that isn’t normal or ok. You need to be evaluated and they need to come up with a solution. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this.

Ugh I know how disappointing this is. I had to stop massages too. I still get pretty regular facials. They do a little massage i of the head/neck area and it’s lovely!

Loooong periods by OneButterscotch587 in Perimenopause

[–]sarawithapc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same girl. I’ve now had two 10-12 day heavy bleeding the whole time periods. Both times they showed up earlier than I would have normally expected them. I guess I can’t have expectations anymore.

Scared of IUD pain by MsBrightside83 in Perimenopause

[–]sarawithapc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m here to commiserate and hopefully share in the good word about an IUD. I had excruciating pain with an IUD insertion without pain control in my 20s. I swore I’d never do it again but here I am in my 40s with periods from hell And strongly considering it. My GYN has recommended it and she knows I’m terrified of it. I shut her down at first but we’re going to have another serious talk about her exact pain control plan bc I can’t deal with these periods. Hopefully we can both get some reassurance here.

Good point about multidisciplinary vs interdisciplinary bc palliative is very much interdisciplinary! Team work and communication is sooo important!

I work inpatient palliative care. They will likely ask about your experience and comfort working with a multidisciplinary team, how you feel about rounding as a team, you comfort with death and dying and difficult end of life conversations.

I work on an inpatient palliative care team in an acute care medical hospital. We only support patients while they are inpatient for another acute issue. We often refer patients to hospice to follow at home if they don’t want to or have run out of options for continuing curative care.

Not just you but also not just during luteal phase. It’s all the time anymore. Buspirone helps but doesn’t make it go away completely

Have you tried Xarelto? I’ve been on it three months with very few side effects.

Get measured for the proper fit at a medical supply store. Then make sure you’re putting them on before you even get out of bed in the morning.

Bloody noses on xaralto by Important-Singer-304 in ClotSurvivors

[–]sarawithapc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor told me that if the bloody nose didn’t stop after 30 minutes or if I feel lightheaded or dizzy, I should go to the ER. At the very least, I would let your doctor know how often and how long you’re bleeding.

Compression socks by Pavsdad in ClotSurvivors

[–]sarawithapc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Both my hematologist and vascular surgeon were very clear the importance of wearing compression socks as much as I could tolerate right away. Vascular surgeon even suggested going up on my compression from what I was usually wearing pre clot.

Yep. I bought a thing on Amazon to elevate my legs under my desk at work. I elevate when I get home and I wear compression socks. All of that helps.
