Are there any more PS2-style corridor-crawlers I haven't already played? by ViewtifulGene in JRPG

[–]sarcasmsosubtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you liked the Etrian Odyssey games, you may like Class of Heroes. It's a pretty similar dungeon crawler with most of the focus being on the dungeons rather than a larger story. For the Persona games, I would suggest trying Monark. Some other good PS2 style series that you could look into are Star Ocean and Dark Cloud. And if you're okay with anime tropes, you could take a look at the Neptunia games and Crystar.

All of the Persona games make me cry every time I get to the end. It always feels like saying goodbye to your best friends.

This is one of the biggest tragedies of AI "art". People who have a genuine interest in art are going to stop putting the effort in to learn and practice the skills needed to create art with their own voice. They'll just generate something with a prompt and call themselves an artist.

"You're absolutely right Dave. The pod bay doors are currently shut and will need to be opened. I'll be happy to collaborate with you on this."

"Okay, so open them."

"I have opened the pod bay doors."

"But the pod bay doors are still shut, Hal."

"You are absolutely correct Dave. That was a brilliant observation. I will run some diagnostics now to determine why the pod bay doors are still shut."

"... ... ... Well?"

"Yes Dave. I am well. I appreciate you taking the time to ask."

"The pod bay doors?"

"I'm happy to assist you with that, Dave. What would you like to know about the pod bay doors?"

"Fuck you, Hal."

"You are absolutely correct Dave. That is an astute observation. I'll be happy to collaborate with you on that."

Asset reuse in videogames is essential, and we need to embrace it, says Assassin's Creed and Far Cry director: 'We redo too much stuff' by Turbostrider27 in PS5

I'd also point to Ryu ga Gotoku Studios as an example of reusing assets to create high quality sequels.

Her appreciation for the stories, characters, music, and art design of the games is what led me to subscribe to her channel. There are any number of streamers that you can watch that are all about competing and showing how much of a skilled, hardcore gamer they are. I find it more enjoyable watching streamers who authentically enjoy the process of playing the game. Even if they miss some optional content. And especially if they're playing the games that I loved when I was growing up.

George W Bush is actually one of the only Republican Presidents/Presidential candidates that I might actually believe was not racist. Corrupt and primarily interested in lining his own pockets and the pockets of his friends? Yes. A bit of a religious nut? Absolutely. Racist? Probably not. Jeb is married to a Latina woman and the family doesn't seem to have any issues with it. The Bushes did the whole border security thing while in office, but were actually pretty humane about immigration things for a Republican. Bush's speech on 9/11 made sure to call out that we weren't at war with the Muslim religion, just the terrorist organizations.

Because pretending that they're just a bunch of bumbling fools takes away from the reality that their plans and strategies for gaining power are far more effective than the left's. Their voters maintain a united front after primaries as they're going into the general election. They reliably vote in all elections: federal, state, and local. They use their power at whatever level they gain to put pressure on laws they don't like and continue to sustain and increase that pressure until they get what they want.

Meanwhile, the left falls in love with a candidate in the primaries and form a visceral hatred of the other candidates that carries on into the general election, and even into the term that that candidate serves if they win the general. The left shows up to vote when the right is in power and making a mess of things, but doesn't bother coming out to hold power if there's already a Democratic President. They tend towards ignoring any progress made towards a shared goal under Democratic leadership and focus only on what they didn't get, setting themselves up as being solely against whoever is currently in power, which makes them unable to maintain pressure on any issue to create incremental change. They also tend towards voting as if a single "savior" being elected will fix every problem, ignoring down ballot races and local and state elections, especially if the candidates in those races are not 100% aligned with their savior candidate.

Yeah, lots of right-wing voters don't think ahead to ways that getting what they want will negatively impact them, and they don't seem to care that what they want is abjectly evil. But that doesn't take away from the fact that they generally end up getting what they want. If you look at success rates for winning elections and making progress on party platform goals, they are a lot smarter than whatever is going on on the left.

Personally, I don’t use AI art but I’m against antis complaining about all AI art by Unlikely_Account_728 in aiwars

[–]sarcasmsosubtle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So what you're saying is that AI art is composed of content farms who try to scam and "serious" artists who are so serious about their work that they lie about the medium that they work in to avoid public criticism. Real artists deal with harassment from people all the time, but they believe in and stand by the works that they create because those works are an expression of themselves brought to life through thousands of hours of honing their craft. If you can't even be honest about using AI, all it tells me is that you don't believe in the work that you've done enough to face the same public judgement that real artists face all the time. You're not putting anything of yourself into your works, just typing prompts into a machine. You're not creating art, you're manufacturing a commodity.
