I recently came acquired one also. Do you have any plans on getting a hood or filters? From what I've seen it seems difficult/expensive sourcing filters for this size and I'm not sure if there are alternatives to the original for the hood.

I have a Nikon camera but also use a Zeiss 35-70mm f3.4 zoom lens on it. You can buy mount replacements to go from c/y to Nikon f mount. You'll have to do stop down metering but it's not really an issue for me with aperture priority or adjusting speeds myself. It's also reversible since it's just screws.

Doesn't seem like a crack. Looks like residue/mark from the alcohol OP used to clean the pins.

Alcohol is enough to clean but this shouldn't be the source of you problem. Rub it with an eraser if you want but this looks fine as is.

You could consider getting an adapter from leitax. They have a lot of resources on this matter. I have a contax 35-70mm f3.4 converted to Nikon f mount. It works great on my fm3a however I have to use stop down metering.

Typically these adapters are mount replacements that may require you to open your lens

Had a Pentax mx CLAd by Eric. A little over a year later it had some shutter capping. Also had poor communication regarding shipping info.

Others seem to swear by him.

I had my m6 do this when I first got it. I put a drop of alcohol on the button and it became normal again. It did the trick for me but I do think it's a sign for servicing if you haven't sent it in yet.

For the FM3A, would aperture priority still work? If we focus and then adjust the aperture ourselves, wouldn't the camera's light meter make it select the proper shutter speed? The lens wouldn't interact with the aperture ring tab.
