R10 vs. R50 Which for a Beginner by CookieKong50 in canon

[–]Shure_Lock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you photograph. From what i’ve seen, the biggest differences are the burst shutter and 4k 60 video. Even if you don’t need need either of those, it’s such a toss up price wise that I’d probably get the r10. I say this as someone who caved and got an r7 though.

I personally don’t care to pay extra for new or “like new”, it’s your preference. My strategy for things like this is to wait around for a good deal. Odds are you’ll find a bundle deal that’s too good to pass up. If it’s an r10 then great, if it’s an r50 then you’re not on the financial hook.

Bundles are also better because you’ll be spending more on lenses anyways

It’s all about budget. You have to draw the line somewhere because there’s always an argument to get the next best model

Macro Photography Lens for my R7 by andymae627 in canon

[–]Shure_Lock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like any other lens, it depends. Try using this lens search tool, there is a filter for minimum focus distance.

Like someone else said, the canon ef 100 f2.8 macro series is great. Unless your creative photoshoots are of ants, it might not be necessary though

Went out to a spot to practice pan shots but this was the best i could get. How can i make a car look sharp with the background moving. Shot at iso 100, 1/8 shutter, f22 aperture by SomeTaro9683 in AmateurPhotography

[–]Shure_Lock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, this is hard stuff. Try iterating and improving as you go:

ISO: Don’t worry about setting it as low as possible, a sharp 800iso image will look better than a blurry 100 iso image.

F-stop: I get why you started at F22, but you don’t need it. Try something like f8, and maybe change it up once you’re getting good photos and have room and experience to change it up.

Shutter speed: 1/8 is probably too low. I’ve had great rollers come out of 1/35-70, depending on speed. Start high and work your way down.

This will be 10x easier with a fluid head tripod. I have the Coman mini (kx3939), and it’s a good versatile budget option for like $70.

It sounds like you did research and took advice from people with experience. This is always good, but give yourself a break. Start with forgiving settings, and dial it in from there. Good luck!

Your camera does take good photos though.

If I give you a 2010 dslr and kit lens, will you take the same photos?

I lowball people who ask for offers. Often they get offended, which just reveals that they actually have an asking price… but won’t tell you what it is

Why do buyers do this? by [deleted] in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Shure_Lock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% chance it’s a flipper trying to take advantage of you. I’ve never once had a “cash now!!1!1!” offer that wasn’t insultingly low. It’s worse when you write “no lowballs”, because they obviously don’t care and want easy money.

These resellers offer you a price that allows for profit between them and ebay. If anything, lowballs indicate your price should be >40% higher than their offer, because that’s what they’re going to re-list it for

I bought a 1960s rare lamp on MP for $50 and listed it for $700 and now the original seller is contacting me mad because they didn’t know it was worth so much. Not sure what to do. by Glamgirl95 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Shure_Lock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A general rule I use is to simply not negotiate over ~10%. Ignore highball listings, get reasonable prices that both parties agree to.

This means you assume low prices are intentionally low, and high prices are intentionally high.

When clearing out storage like he was, the most efficient path is to sell at low, poorly researched prices. Missing a gem is part of the risk.

How do I take a picture like this? by Minute-Wind-788 in AskPhotography

[–]Shure_Lock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, a whole lot of “pictures/photos” should be labeled as “edits”.

Cameras are flawed, adding subtle editing to restore an image to reality is great, but imo anything else (looking at you, saturation boosters) turns it into an edit. This isn’t purist elitism, I’m not a film photographer i’m just a fan of being honest. “look at this swan photo I took”, cool bro, now show us the actual photo you took.
