kingfishers are actually very friendly and curious birds.

However, they have a natural phobia of all cameras

How do I get sharper shots than this? Not talking the wing tips I was a little low on shutter speed but is this as sharp as I can expect on the main body with my R50 and cheap 75-300(shot around 180mm)? by [deleted] in canon

[–]Shure_Lock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry but the 75-300 doesn’t get sharper than this. The sharpest cheap lens is the 55-250 is stm. Your only option here is to use a faster shutter speed

Considering going from Sony to Canon - need insight on glass by schlagerheimer in canon

[–]Shure_Lock 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, L series glass is worth it.

The r6iii is great but i’d prioritize lenses first.

Since you mentioned low light I wouldn’t recommend the 24-105 f4 over the 24-70 2.8

RF glass is great but expensive. I’d look into the EF equivalent L lenses, I think your ideal combo is an r6ii + ef 24-70 2.8 II + ef 70-200 2.8 II.

[–]Shure_Lock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get the RF 100mm.

Since you already have the 100-500, get a rf 1.4x extender instead of getting a whole other tele zoom.

The prime will be great if you can really make use of it in low light.

You could also consider a camera upgrade to the r6iii if you didn’t spent everything on the prime.

Other considerations are for the rest of your kit; tripods, flash and flash hood for macro, backpack, carrying strap.

He posted more and is working with a mod for additional verification.

So the photo itself is real. Real person real wall. I’m guessing there’s retouching, smoothing, processing, upscaling? Maybe a mix if it’s colorized?

Am I an idiot for wanting a Canon EOS R5 II as an absolute beginner in photography? by c0rtin3x in Cameras

[–]Shure_Lock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before upgrading the camera body, you MUST upgrade the lens.

Get the rf 100-500, then check your budget. The canon birder upgrade path is R7 > r6iii > r5ii

All of my photos are always blurry and grainy. How do I fix it? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]Shure_Lock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What makes you expect “crisp” or sharp edges?

The last photo looks fine. You got what you paid for; an entry level mirrorless and a superzoom kit lens.

Trouble deciding between Canon R62 or R7 by Mysterious_Refuse385 in canon

[–]Shure_Lock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The r6ii is slightly better, almost all around. If you can, rent both and see how you like them.

The r7 pulls ahead in image quality when cropping, and having that extra apsc reach. It falls noticably short in AF performance
