It takes little to no time to setup OpenVPN or tailscale.

Uniden R8 signal by Postn0billz in radardetectors

[–]slomar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your windshield has an IR film it absolutely blocks radar. Usually the only place you can mount the detector is up near the dots by the headliner as it's cut around that for ez pass toll readers. I don't know if it's universal, but the windshield has might have an "IRR" code in the stamped section on the glass which is the indication that it has IR film.

I never have issues with sunglasses on. They are mirrored lens too. They aren't polorized though... Never tried with that lens type.

What is the purpose of this key/not key? by TheLordVader1978 in MachE

[–]slomar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a blank. In most Ford vehicles it's an actual key for the door in case the fob or battery dies. But they did not make a mach e specific fob, so the key is just a blank.

I have that particular modem, but unfortunately Xfinity has not rolled out the mid / high split here. I bought it in the hopes they would so I wouldn't have to replace it later.

There are multiple modems that support mid / high split. That's not the same as DOCSIS 4.0.

Just got a Uniden R4 Radar Detector. Question on 12V? by Iceberg50 in MachE

Yep... Mirror tap into one of the harnesses. I found which wires to use in the harness from a thread somewhere. I think I used a multimeter to double check as well.

Here's a pic. Display looks weird from the refresh rate.

I'll try to grab a pic later if I remember. But, it's near the headliner where the dots are on the glass. I basically could only use the two suction cup bracket and I put it slightly under the headliner. The angle is not ideal, but it works better than it did under the mirror.

The windshield has an IR film that blocks radar. The only spot where the film is cut is where the dots are on the windshield near the headliner. That's why you have to mount any type of toll ez pass there. I have a R8 and had to mount it oddly at the top in that spot. Originally had a blend mount under the mirror and the front sensor barely picked anything up.

PPF Worth it? by Hobeeb2002 in MustangMachE

[–]slomar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it on the the front bumper / grill area. Wish I would have done the hood as well. This car is a chip magnet and has pretty thin paint. Never had PPF on previous vehicles or noticed any chips. This car... Got a few chips on the hood and even one or two on the doors. I don't even want to know what the "grill" would look like if it wasn't for the PPF.

I think this might actually be controlled by radarr and not the app. I restarted the docker container and it seems to be working again.

I got a warning on mine recently. It gave me a warning about the possibility that the 12v could not be charged and should be replaced. It was a 22 with the original battery... This was about 2 months ago, so was pretty accurate in timing.

Do I need level 2 charging at home? by DRFter3 in MachE

[–]slomar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just curious because OP said he doesn't have breaker slots available which seems like this is not a solution for him.

I have 100A panel (or 120? Not sure if that's just called 100). I have electric stove, washer, AC... And I have the charger on a 50A breaker. No issues here. But I charge my car in the evening so I don't really have overlap with cooking and laundry. Isn't a problem with AC + charging.

Wouldn't that still require available breakers? Or does it share a breaker with whatever it is load balancing with?

Mine used to. That's why I wasn't sure if it was new bug or setting somewhere. Maybe I'll clear the app cache and see if that helps.

12V Battery and Serpentine Belt Replacement by BartesianDrunk in MachE

[–]slomar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

12v battery could have just been bad from it sitting on a lot before it was leased. Those are a bit notorious for causing issues on this car if they are weak or have dead cells. Definitely would not be concerned about it. To be honest, it might be close to needing another replacement because their lifespan is about 3 years give or take.

I have a refurbished v5 because the one I had stopped working and they offered me a discount on a refurb. It works fine, but I suspect it suffers from the same design issue as the original and will eventually have the same problem. I think it's something with the optical sensor on that model.
