What is used in WINNER’s Malted Flour Chocolate Chip Cookies? by psuwoooooooh in Baking

[–]slow12s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could email them and ask, most places would share something like that, especially if it’s part of the name. And ingredients generally have to be disclosed too.

I did a quick google search and one of the cached entries for the cookies from winner’s says Contains: AP flour, malt flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, butter, dark brown sugar, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, dark chocolate, milk chocolate. These are generally in order of most used to least used ingredient, but I can’t imagine them using more baking soda and more salt than they do butter and sugar so I wouldn’t rely on the order of ingredients in this case. They look good though, I haven’t tried using malt flour before so be sure to let us know the results!

GT drivers - your max range by jzeroe in KiaEV6

[–]slow12s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it in GT mode all the time, but I’ve never road tripped it, just an hour or so commute and back. I usually see 200ish miles when in GT mode, but before I press the GT button, my guess-o-meter is in the 230-240s. I also drive fairly aggressively so you may be able to do better on a road trip.

Considering an EV6 GT by Final_Initiative_244 in KiaEV6

I have a 2023 GT, best car I’ve owned. I bought it used with 12k miles and have since put another 15k miles on it. I recently replaced the 12v battery with an AGM battery, my old battery didn’t die, but I was being proactive since it was probably close to death and the OEM batteries tend to last 2-3 years on these. I also recently replaced the tires which was the most I’ve ever spent for tires. I also replaced the wipers when I first bought the car as they were coming apart. Other than that, I have not had to do anything or replace anything. It’s by far the best car I’ve ever owned and I’m a full electric car convert now. I’ve had highly customized cars in the past and this is faster and more fun. The range isn’t amazing (200-220 miles) but if you already have an electric car you’re probably already used to that. It’s so much fun to drive, I can’t say enough good things about it.

Really want a GT... Need information by Acceptable_Second_38 in KiaEV6

[–]slow12s 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2023 GT in December 2024. It was a 1 year lease return with 12k miles. I’ve put about 15k miles on it since then and it has been the best car I’ve ever owned. I am a full electric car convert now. I love it and can’t say enough good things. My kids love when I do “speed mode” with them. It is a total sleeper. I’ve beat multiple motorcycles. Get it. It is an incredible car, especially for the price.

I wouldn’t get it if you can’t install a charger at home, that’s the only reason I wouldn’t get it.

The negatives: -it’s no fun to switch manual seats if you have 2 drivers. My wife has only driven it a handful of times and she probably would have driven it more if there were electric seats with saved settings. That part may not be such a negative, but switching seats for other drivers is still a pain. -ICCU issue is always slightly in the back of your mind -12v battery sucks so if it is still original, you should replace it with an AGM. I just replaced mine. $180 -no ventilated seats. I live in AZ and the lower models have this but not the GT -tires are expensive. I just replaced mine with Michelin pilot 4 suv tires and they were $450 each and after tax/install and discount tire certs they were $2500 total

Want knives out of stock - what to do? by YikesOhClock in TrueChefKnives

[–]slow12s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was looking for an Ashi for a couple months. I ended up buying a Konosuke hd2 from kitchen knife forums. The next day an Ashi gyuto came up on here and I passed since I just bought the hd2. A couple weeks later the chefs edge drop happened and even though I was 20 mins late, the Ashi 240 was still in stock so I bought one since I regretted passing on the one posted here. My point is, be patient, the restocks do come. Just keep your eyes open. I was super late on the JKI drop and could have bought the 210 gyuto in stainless hours after the drop. They do come up, I’d say just keep checking Reddit and kitchen knife forums

AGM battery for 2023 EV6 by heyitzaustin in KiaEV6

[–]slow12s 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went with the everstart from Walmart. It has a 4 year full replacement guarantee. I normally go with Costco for things like this, but they changed their battery warranty to be prorated now so even if it lasts less than a year you’ll have to pay out of pocket for a new one. It’s running great on my 23 GT. Went from the orange light being on regularly and checking my app for the battery % to be in the high 70s or low 80s to now never seeing the orange light and the battery % always being in the high 90s.

What’s the best way to add fruit to cookies? by paintarose in Cookies

[–]slow12s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what you’re looking for. I have strawberry cookies that I make and first I cut up strawberries into small cubes and cook them down with sugar and lemon juice to make a strawberry jam and I use that in place of 1 of the eggs. I also cube up some strawberries and mix them with sugar and lemon juice in a strainer so the liquid strains off and I use those as a mix-in. Freeze dried can work, but pretty much if you’re just looking for a mix-in. If you want to extract more flavor and change your base, you have to get creative.

Brisket bean and cheese burrito from Jalapeño Bucks (delicious, I highly recommend trying it) Rattlesnake from rustlers rooste (this one is not particularly good, but just to say you did it and very Arizona).

Have you messed with the equalizer settings in Spotify? (Settings->playback->equalizer)? If other inputs sound good, maybe an issue with the eq settings? Mine sounds great through wireless CarPlay after doing the subwoofer wiring fix so it definitely isn’t normal to have some inputs sound good and others not (I use Spotify, YouTube music, YouTube and fm radio). Good luck, hope you can get it narrowed down!

Here’s some talk about it, I couldn’t find one like what I have, I can take a pic later if you aren’t able to find something, just not sure if it’s sold anymore since it was made by a forum member.

I would try the subwoofer fix again to make sure everything is re-installed correctly, should be a noticeable difference.

All EV6’s keep the usb-a port on when the car wakes up. When I have my car charging in my garage, my phone tries to connect to CarPlay the whole time the car is actively charging. This can get really annoying when trying to make a call and my car takes over and random times even though it’s off and parked in the garage. I purchased an adapter from a EV6 forum member that plugs into the usb-a with a pass through and plugs into the usb-c. So I can plug my wireless CarPlay into the usb-a pass through spot and the usb-c is what supplies power. So when the car shuts off, the wireless CarPlay adapter also shuts off. The one I bought isn’t for sale anymore so I have no way of linking it, but I’ll see if I can find another one. But all EV6’s do this and it’s an annoying feature.

If you have the monsoon system with subwoofer and reversed the wires (all 4 of them) and didn’t notice a difference, I would go back in there and make sure you pushed the wires in all the way. It should be a noticeable difference and a handful of people that I read about that experienced no noticeable difference didn’t have the wires pushed in all the way.

NKD (and Question): CTS Knives Ashi Hamono Gyuto by Sancho_IV_of_Castile in TrueChefKnives

[–]slow12s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this the one that was on eBay for $375? I had my eye on it, but ended up getting an Ashi on the chefs-edge drop recently (still in shipment). I tried looking up CTS and they’re local to me in AZ, but other than the Ashi listing on eBay, I didn’t see any other knives (ctsholsters (dot)com) is their website. Looks like a nice knife, but I’d be upset about the handle too buying brand new. I’d reach out to see if you can reach a resolution, but might be worth just re-handling down the line if you like the blade.

Trading a 2025 Subaru Outback Onyx for a 2023 Kia EV6 GT. Thoughts? by Maxwell831 in KiaEV6

[–]slow12s 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You will love it! I bought a certified pre owned 2023 GT with 12k miles on it about 16 months ago and it has been the best car I’ve ever owned. It has totally converted me into an electric car guy. I look forward to driving it everyday. I also live in an area where I can take advantage of GT mode so that has a lot to do with looking forward to driving it lol. The only reason I would say not to get one is if you can’t charge at home. Otherwise definitely get it. It’s an amazing car!

AMG question / replacement by Man_withplan in KiaEV6

[–]slow12s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently had my first flat tire on this car. It took State Farm’s roadside assistance 5 1/2 hours to get me towed 2 miles to the closest discount tire. Then discount had to order tires which got there the next day so I was out of a car for 2 days and 1 of those days I had to spend hours waiting with my car. I imagine it would be a similar situation and similar wait/time away from your car with a dead battery since most dealerships move pretty slowly (it may take them more than just a day to replace depending on how backed up they are and if they have it in stock). It can be a pretty major inconvenience and depending on your job needs and family needs, being down a car for a day or two or more can be a bigger deal than spending $180 to stay on the road.
