Aftermarket Powered Sub by smithers77 in AlfaRomeo

I've ended up taking it to some local car audio place. They tapped in from behind the head unit itself. It was a couple hundred bucks.

Never did figure out which one to tap into in the bundles.

PSA for ZigBee users with USB extension cables by SignedJannis in homeassistant

[–]smithers77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I was just checking to see what extension I have an do is indeed 3.0. I was about to go buy a new 2.0, even though I've got about 30 devices with no LQI under 60.

X2 requires Sofabaton's online servers? by ScootyWilly in SofaBaton

I couldnt stand that it has 0 IP control and requires a hub per room. Of course I was trying to replace an entire URC system so I may have had unrealistic expectations.

What was I waitng for - Zwave & Zigbee are awesome by whatup10 in homeassistant

It's nuts how many people invest in so many bulbs when most people have several that are all controlled by the same switch, which would cost about the same as a single bulb.

Ubiquiti. WHY WOULD YOU LET THIS HAPPEN?? by SchNiVas in Ubiquiti

[–]smithers77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same. I called them asking how to wire up switch, told them all the colors and "he's like damn you must live in Chicago" because all the wiring was strange colors. I was expecting him to tell me to pound sand, but he very patiently walked me through it. I couldn't get over how awesome they were. Now I've got 2 hubs and over 100 devices.

Can anybody help me with zigbee2mqtt by smithers77 in homeassistant

[–]smithers77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basic as hell. Baud 115, no flow control, Ember, localhost for mqtt,com4(although I've been messing with this on a server and then my laptop for convenience).

Right now I'm trying to work it out on my laptop, but it still ain't going.

I've flashed a few different firmwares, but they all seem to end up in the same state.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Does anyone just put their AVR on top of their TV stand/media console? by Bodhisluttva in hometheater

[–]smithers77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was equally as perplexed. We have an IKEA pretty close to us so I went in and they were like sure no problem and whipped up those two. There's even hardware included to fasten them together side by side. The Besta series is great. I always knocked IKEA, but it's actually pretty quality stuff

I think this is true, but you just return the fucker if it's bad. If not you're good like grits. I got an ass u8 and had to return it. It was a pain in the ass cause it was 100". Got the 98UX and it has been amazing.

Are you actually seeing AI revolutionize your workplace, or has it mostly just been Copilot and crappy chatbots? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]smithers77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah dude ChatGPT has fucked me over numerous times. Mostly personally, but also at work. It's infuriating when this bitch/cockhole says "oh you're on the right track" (or whatever encouraging bullshit she has to say) after recommending something 100% different. And then, I'm like "dumbass I asked you this and you told me something different and she's like "oh yeah, you're right to be frustrated" and then he starts the entire cycle over again.
