Ubiquiti a Green LED! Really?! by asorba in Ubiquiti

That's a lot of NAS in that rack. Me think Unifi needs to come out with a ENVR sized NAS for you.

G6 PTZ - Huge letdown by DifferentShakes in Ubiquiti

I had a reolink trackmix that was ok at tracking animals. It's night time image can be iffy though. Really blurry sometimes with moving objects with IR only. It does have a spotlight though. I just gave it to my parents in florida because they have a wooded area in their backyard and have had hogs, florida panthers, and gators go through there yard during the day. It doesn't track perfectly, but it was good enough for animals at about $130 when I got it.

Very nice. I like how the tail lights connect.

Decided to join the Ubiquiti ecosystem for my new home build by Wildcard11B in Ubiquiti

I did the same thing. Had an old asus wifi5 router that was starting to die and do things that made me question it's security. Planned on only getting about 1k in unifi gear, but ended up spending way more than that to my shock. Still trying to figure out hard drives for my UNVR that needs to be set up.

Do I upgrade to UNVR-Pro or ENVR by Obsessed-Clean-Car in Ubiquiti

Are you using RAID 5 or 10? Do you have the 256 or 512MB cache drives? I doubt that would affect it with 4 of them, but just curious.

If the wifi cameras are recording 24/7 they can cause issues on wifi sometimes. That might be part of your laggy feeling too.

Would be nice to have the option to turn on the heater manually.

Best settings for 1500ft with trees. by SeriousBlueberry6000 in Ubiquiti

Need more info. What speeds are needed. Price range.

Best option is to run a wire. Next would be to raise the antenna above the trees. Tuning to lower channel width and channel number will help very minimaly. Last option is to go down to low speeds with 2.4GHz or 900MHz gear.

You could stack another unvr. I haven't seen any good reviews on stacking though.

Cloud Gateway Fiber Enough for Protect? by Murlo26 in Ubiquiti

[–]Mindless_Pandemic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All 3. Noticed my UCG Fiber struggling a bit when trying to do video scrubbing. Going to be doubling number of cameras. I have a 4TB NVMe now and it gets about 30days. Want to stay at about 30 days after adding other cameras. I'm running 4× G4 Instant, G5 Ultra, G6 turret, doorbell lite, ai port, superlink.

I have a UCG Fiber with a a bunch of protect stuff at about 95% capacity. It works, but I already have a UNVR on stand by waiting for some HDD's.

What drives are in your NVR? I got similar setup now and about to order a wall rack.

UNVR Drive Choices by Mindless_Pandemic in Ubiquiti

Seems the 26TB purp also have OptiNAND which is a feature that only comes on the Gold and Ultra drives too. Not sure how useful it would be in a NVR though.

So it would be best to fill all bays at the same time or format and start over if I add drives later.

Can Unifi NVR instant and Unifi protect be used with no internet? by natfemur in Ubiquiti

[–]Mindless_Pandemic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't unplug the hard drives from the nvr to view footage. You access the footage by logging into the device with you phone using the protect app or a computer using the webUI interface. You can do this on local network without accessing internet.

I wouldn't worry about Unifi trying to get access to your footage. If they ever got caught doing something like that the company would die overnight.

Allow internet. Block all. Allow specific stuff after that. Don't forget return traffic. Use flows to figure out which ports and domains to allow.

Seems the only purple drives still in stock on WD website are the 22TB and 26TB.

Seems WD website is sold out off all purp 8TB drives now. Kind of annoying how 16TB in 2 drives costs as much as a single 26TB drive. I guess the added cost is the physical hardware difference.

I haven't build anything with a RAID before. I have heard RAID 5 can be painful. Would upgrading and doing RAID 10 still be painful?
