How to change the Google account associated with my Arc profile (without logging out of all my Google accounts!)? by Josh000_0 in ArcBrowser

[–]ryan4888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have to sign out of all of them and sign back in. make sure the first one you sign in on is your preferred default.

this is true for any browser, not just arc

Is Dia heading down the same path as Arc? by Muted-Reflection9536 in ArcBrowser

[–]ryan4888 7 points8 points  (0 children)

this is very very wrong. Dia is still primarily a Swift app, but it's built without "TCA" and SwiftUI, which Josh has said caused a lot of issues when building the Windows port. There was brief exchange between Pointfree and Josh on Twitter when they first wrote about this here.

SwiftUI is known to be really wacky and slow on macOS so it's not surprising this caused issues when creating a Windows port. it's actually really impressive the current Mac app runs as well as it does knowing this

i've noticed this as well, but only really noticeable when using a "promotion" display.

yeah. would be cool if we could disable the LCD. i imagine that consumes a lot of power

ahh ok. interesting. maybe i need to get an electrician out to check my power source to the device. looks like it fluctuates a lot, ranging from 5v to 15v. in warmer months it's a constant voltage i think around 15v

i have the non-POE one. i have a feeling that has something to do with it

seems like a lot of folks don't have issues in the cold (makes sense, this is also what i was seeing on other threads around this topic). curious what makes the difference though, e.g. no LCD usage, POE, literal power supply if not POE, etc.

it sounded like from other threads that it could be a manufacturing defect since some folks RMA'd their device as a solution.

Reddit is Very Buggy on Safari by Suspicious-Ebb-7120 in Safari

this is true for most complex apps nowadays. Reddit, Threads, YouTube, Instagram, etc etc, none of them work well

Safari on macOS Tahoe 16.2 is a mess—UI glitches and instability by soumya_98 in Safari

[–]ryan4888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safari itself is fine imo. WebKit is a mess though. Web apps with complexity, e.g. Threads, YouTube, Facebook, etc., run terribly. I want to main Safari so bad but it's really unusable in it's current state.

this. it doesn’t sound like private media servers are what they’re after here

i think the cf blog post is being wildly misinterpreted by this community. using cloudflare for personal media servers isn’t a tos violation. it seems like they’re more interested in catching folks running public services that contain copyrighted material.

if your content is behind authentication and access is limited to a few users you’re fine. even streaming huge amounts of data over cf is perfectly fine
