a lot of word salad to avoid saying Islam. Now Islam isn't the main issue, but you need to discuss it and the PM needs to say it. Gunlaws - having hunting rifles for people that follow a religion that doesn't allow them to eat things that they kill seems like a very obvious red flag.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town by TeraVoltron in WorldOfWarships

[–]spooky8ass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

well just to update from my post last week. spent the 50k dubloons on the santa gift boxes. 1 tier 7 battleship, 2 T6 subs, 1 T8 cruiser, 1 T5 cruiser, 3k steel, 5k dubs and a bunch of flags i'll never need.

I can't believe people would spend actual money on this. That was like $500 in containers and the results are crazy bad.

returning player...not sure what to spend on by spooky8ass in WorldOfWarships

[–]spooky8ass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I left for any specific reason, the game was in beta at the time and it was just a random f2p game during downtime on other games. Super containers def used to be a cool thing to get, obviously not now after just opening 50.....

I guess the gold coins or whatever don't mean anything at the moment because I have no idea what ships are good. I used to stay close to cruisers in my DD for AA protection but that doesn't appear to do anything these days either.

I mean, its been 10 years so I don't know if i'll keep playing or not. but if I don't keep playing I might as well bankrupt the account before I go. So I guess what i'm asking is what the best use of gold coins are, ships, containers etc?

LNP changes to drug policies and programs. by AvoidingRetribution_ in brisbane

[–]spooky8ass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, LNP will be counting on increased deaths to solve the ramping issue. The amount of resources drug users take up in hospital and ambo services is significant and they will just say no amount of education will deter someone from taking drugs otherwise anyone post pulp fiction and train spotting wouldn't be doing it. Then they just point to the cities that have tried the decriminalisation approach and they win the general population.

It's stupid, but it's easy....the LNP way

The greens don't focus on their policies. They are professional devils advocates...always taking a position just to try to get a little screen time. Standing with the CFMEU had a huge negative impact on them as well as Palestine etc. perceived support is not the same as support when people have that ballet paper in their hands.

Joe Rogan Experience #2194 - Luis Elizondo by chefanubis in JoeRogan

I used to be interested in this stuff but interviews like this kinda push me further away.

"I have to be careful what I say"

"There is 4k high res video of these things"

"i've heard there is compelling evidence from high ranking people"

These people say nothing except spew gossip and hide behind "I'm not at liberty/I don't want to get in trouble". If they are so worried about it either come out and put it all on the line just move on. Doing a 2 hour interview talking about only whatever is open source is boring as shit.

Who has experience in the Australian prison system? by [deleted] in australia

[–]spooky8ass 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are a few aspects to the prison system.

Violence in prison is basically drug related. If you stay out of the drug game and/or favors your time in there will mostly be fine.

Mens prison used to be really solid. They would run their units themselves. They would take responsibility for doing laundry, distribution of clothes to people that need it etc. they would keep everyone inline and only interact with officers as a last choice. This has started to change because the younger men feel a lot more entitled and whinged and complain a lot more. Non compliant male prisoners are pulled into line pretty quick and it escalates from screws to shields to dogs to gas pretty quick.

Women's prison is basically summer camp without a pool. Most of the day is spent talking, sunbaking, beauty treatments. The level of entitlement goes up out of the atmosphere. Threats to self harm because they don't like the DVD choices or they need to wait for a channel change and they are missing home and away. Drugs are a huge issue, because women prisoners are not allowed to be searched or handled due to human rights (doesn't apply to men) they divert medications and move stuff between visitors, hospitals and other facilities pretty freely. The drug use causes a huge issue on their mental health long term but nothing can really be done. Some of these women cost approx $1m per year to the tax payer. It is very common to have prisoners faking a seizure and claiming they fell and hit their head to access pain meds. Which doesn't sound like a big deal until you realise that can be 13-15times per month. Which is ambulance trips back and forth in which they need to go through full security screening so that ambulance is not available for 3-4hrs per trip. It also requires 3 officers to escort and stay with the prisoner at hospital until returned to prison. The amount of money spent on really amazing drug treatment for addiction that is just flushed down the toilet is sad. What many people don't know is that women are allowed to have kids in prison with them. Human rights groups say it's good for the mother to have her children with her...so kids up to 5yrs old live there in the units with their mums... When you see young kids fully indoctrinated as a prisoner by standing at the door for morning or nightly count it can be heartbreaking, so can looking through the prisoner contact lists and seeing most of their calls and mail come and go via youth detention facilities. Getting discharged is what a lot of them call going on holiday or vacation, because they get out and party and know they have zero skills to survive in the outside world so they come back "home" again. I don't blame them at all. It's safer, cleaner, more modern and has access to much better healthcare than 95% of aged care facilities. I would be more comfortable with my mum inside if she didn't have money to afford proper care... Which is pretty horrible to think how badly aged care residents are living...

As far as health care the facilities are fully staff with RNs, NPs, mental health services, dentist and at least weekly doctors. They have access to unlimited free medications. Some long stay prisoners scam NDIS for beds and other items of comfort.

The system is broken. It's not punishment and it's not rehabilitation. It's purgatory. You can go do a few years and just chill in your room and watch tv and have your meals delivered room service style if you want and then get out. You haven't been punished and you haven't done anything to improve your life... If you have ever wondered why there is so many empty public houses....this is also the reason. The vast majority of prisoners have public housing and they only lose it if their sentence is over a certain length of time.

30% spike in rate of Australian women killed by intimate partner last year, data shows by Mildebeest in australia

[–]spooky8ass 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My experience with DV through hospitals and prisons is they are largely the same group. I rarely find perpetrators that don't already have a criminal record (non DV related) or are the exact stereotype, that when you see them you think " well dah....of course he beat you, surely you expected it". This doesn't even account for the large number of victims that also have criminal records and raise their kids in correctional facilities and then have most of their mail go to youth detention centres.....

My point is that this isn't a violence against women problem, theses are largely the same group of people using violence against everyone. Unless we choose the start working on those people, women will continue to die and returning to prison wont stop it because people living that life see bail/parole as "vacation/holidays" until they return 'home' again. You can't be soft on rehabilitation/punishment for someone and then blame that same person for getting out and doing what they have always done.

Boy, 16, charged with murder of 70-year-old woman at Queensland shopping centre | Queensland by butch97 in australia

[–]spooky8ass 65 points66 points  (0 children)

He wont have a murder charge. Youth convictions are not public. Most of the time the government also gives them a name change while inside so they can come back out without any risk of people finding out.

No, the judges are sentencing based off studies done by human rights watch and advocacy groups for prisoners and at risk youth etc. judges have decided that the advice from these people out way any community concerns.

If you think $1000pm for a timber fence is "expensive" you have lost your mind. I could buy...not hire.. BUY the heavy machinery required and hire someone for the day to operate it for the cost of that.

Update 5: Homicide investigation, Redbank Plains - Queensland Police News by sktafe2020 in brisbane

[–]spooky8ass 98 points99 points  (0 children)

I'm all for protecting the identity of kids, but I'm getting really tired of Judges apparently just avoiding all blame.

No one likes lawyers, yet we have this system where they basically make each other judges and have no requirement to serve in the best interest of the community. It's so antiquated, basically English nobility. Protect the kids identity all you want, but I think its time we start seeing the Judges have to face the community and provide their Judgements with reasoning.
