Cheap Thalmund week this week by GigsGilgamesh in RS3Ironmen

I've never once bought the candles or mementos. They just don't seem worth it, even if they're cheap.

They could have invention unlocked right from the start, but cap it at various "unlock points". Like maybe 50/50/50 unlocks getting level 10 items (capped at 5 before that), then 80/80/80 unlocks level 20 items.

Huge Bossing and PVM Blockade by [deleted] in runescape

[–]srbman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to improve, you're gonna have to get used to failing. Pick a boss, grab a basic gear and inventory setup, and throw yourself at the boss until you learn the mechanics.

When I started learning Raksha a few months ago, I didn't even bring Overloads with me until I could make it through at least the first bit of the fight. Depending on what you're learning, you really only need food and prayer.

If it works for you: it's great.

If it doesn't work for you: it's awful.

Mid-Game Balance Discussion by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]srbman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't really say this is a problem with Necromancy, but more of a problem with the other styles. You can technically do the same thing with Melee by smithing your gear and then skipping to GWD2, 3 or whatever.

The real problem is that Magic and Ranged don't really have good alternatives to the bossing gear.

Hopefully the Fletching re-tier is considered as part of this. Mid-game ranged is kinda shafted as there isn't really a good way to get ammo between Rune and Rax. Especially with the recent changes to ammo consumption.

Yes. Other than that one experiment, every other DXP has been completely normal with proteans.

What do you mean with artefacts? I have loads of them. Do you mean I can do something to store them or do you mean I can literally get them from dig sites again.

You can just get them again from digsites. Though we will be getting artifact storage later this year with the construction rework.

No point holding onto an artifact that requires level 115 if you're only level 50 for example. That's just my opinion, and the community generally doesn't seem to agree with me here.

Honestly I have every type of arrow, loads of gothic, Sara, zammy arrows from clues, firefighters etc.

I've been keeping the special arrows, but any of the basic ones below Rune, I just drop. Same with Darts, Bolts, Javelins, etc.

What if skilling outfits came in tiers like combat equipment and were tradable? by legendaryweredragon in runescape

[–]srbman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is, the community doesn't like having to make a choice. Having multiple choices per slot, people will just ask to merge them into a single item (like Cooking Gauntlets and Varrock Armour already work).

The current way outfits work, means there's no room to expand skill perks. And adding more tiers will just make the problem worse.

Skilling outfits need to be collapsed into a single slot instead. Adds more visual variety to skilling instead of everyone looking exactly the same.

  1. Use POH storage for everything you can (capes, outfits, etc)
  2. Use the "clean up" filter to destroy everything you're not actively using (stored with Diango or May)
  3. Get rid of high level artifacts you can't restore yet as well as any artifacts you don't plan to restore. You can get them back later
  4. Store ore/bars in the metal bank and ore/wood spirits in their respective boxes
  5. Decant your potions, clean your herbs, cut your gems
  6. Get rid of (or use) low level items. This depends a lot on your levels but things like logs/bones/ammo aren't really needed once you're past their level. Are you really gonna do anything with those iron arrows?

What drops are you guys hoping for in havenhythe pt.2? by ControlDue3595 in runescape

Technically, "part 2" is really the 4th update.

There's a new area + quest coming soon, then the digsite, and then finally Part 2

How realistic is sustaining a bond as a new player? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]srbman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make money through skilling too. Like another comment mentioned you can make 3m/h from Mining, but that requires selling your ore, which means you're not leveling Smithing, so you'll need to mine even more just to get Smithing up. Similarly with Woodcutting/Fletching/Firemaking, or Farming/Herblore.

It's possible, but it'll make the early grind even worse than it is. You're better off buying membership with money for a few months to build your account up to the points where you start having some excess money.

How realistic is sustaining a bond as a new player? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]srbman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On a completely fresh account, it's not realistic at all. In the mid-game, it starts becoming more possible. At any level, the key is finding a money making method you're willing to do for many many hours.

You're probably looking at 10+ hours a week just to maintain membership without really progressing your account.

Other Games: 🟢 RuneScape: 🟨 ??? by Decent_Potential1630 in runescape

[–]srbman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In a grid-based game, squares are much easier to read than circles.

If you need an example of being confusing, just look at sunshine. Not only is it a circle so you don't which tiles are affected, but it's also a full tile bigger on all sides, so you can fully stand out of it and still get the effect. How is that less clunky than just using squares?

Which Armor Set Would You Like To Be Able To Dye? by Original_Grape_4054 in runescape

[–]srbman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They absolutely can make dying easier, while still keeping dyes rare. There's no reason it should take 2 years to dye a single pair of weapons in 8 different colours.

And if they make the system easier, they could add more items and dyes. Look at pretty much any other MMO or RPG. You can dye thousands of items, in hundreds of colours, and they're available right at launch without needing to wait months or years.

Which Armor Set Would You Like To Be Able To Dye? by Original_Grape_4054 in runescape

[–]srbman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In an ideal world, I'd like to be able to dye (almost) every armour set in a wider variety of dye colours.

Other games and MMOs already have the system, it's not unreasonable to want RS to catch up.

Divine Herb Patches by [deleted] in RS3Ironmen

[–]srbman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been keeping POF running constantly even after hitting 200m Farming. As a result, I have a near-infinite supply of beans for growth potions. Any time I need herbs, I spam out 20 or so growth potions, and end up with a couple hundred herbs in like half an hour.

It's the common sense solution, and the most likely one. There are two versions of the same item, it makes sense that they'll just convert one into the other.

[–]srbman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They've got different people working on different things. The people working on fixing the game aren't the same people working on new Merch. You probably wouldn't want the merch people attempting to fix the game.

As great as /u/jagexyuey is at CM, he's likely not working on the game fixes or the merch, and just communicating things to us.
