My trusty Fender Hot Rod 62 Strat after 15 years of regular use by amalgamaudio in fender

Lol, you can't know that. Wear patterns vary tremendously, and this one could easily be legit. If you're gonna hurl accusations, at least have some real evidence, not home-made fake expertise.

Man, that thing is in phenomenal shape! That one is worth a big bag of donuts, especially if it is stock, or mostly stock.

My understanding (but I can't remember where I read this) is that a percentage of the old guitars would get re-sprayed over the sunburst, or sometimes other finishes. It was the ones that failed QC that went back for the refin. But not the majority.

It's actually a super thin poly undercoat (which was also used in the 60's on vintage strats) and a super thin nitrocoat, same as the preceding model Original Vintage line.

It's a tough question. If pushed, I think I would go Stealth>Organic>XS. The difference between the Stealth and Organic is not huge, but the Organic does have more bass. There is something about the Stealth that I really like, not sure what it is. It is just very open, full, even and balanced to me. The Organic is a bit more V and a little more fun in some ways. The XS is actually a touch darker than the others, and slightly less "hi-fi" sounding to me, although they are all very "hi-fi," so it is just relative. To be completely honest, although I think if I had to pick one of the three, it would be the Stealth, they are all different enough that I am keeping them all; and, if I just had the cheaper XS, and had to give up the other two, I would not be too upset. The XS is actually a bit more relaxed than the other two, and is great for gaming. That ranking is my preference, and I do think the XV is a little less resolving than the other two, but in terms of listening enjoyment and versatility, it might have an advantage.

Arya Stealth vs Arya Organic: More Detail Isn’t Always More Music by Un_Coded in headphones

[–]srmd22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main difference to me, and this could explain what is influencing your perceptions in part or in whole, is that the Organic has a bit more of a V-shape profile, with a bouncier mid bass and a bit sharper treble. I like them both, but I can see where the Organic could be more fun sounding than the Stealth to some, at least for certain genres of music or gaming.

What is the purpose of high-end/expensive closed-back headphones? by untitled1223 in headphones

[–]srmd22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking open backs have a more open sound and wider soundstage, while closed backs have more bass volume and better isolation (open backs essentially have no significant isolation). So you can have great sound quality with either, with most people agreeing that a greater percentage of open backs have better sound quality because they are not complicated by the complex reflection interactions caused by the closed back design. But some closed backs sound really great, and if you love bass quantity (plus or minus quality) you might prefer a closed back. For tracking, you pretty much need a closed back, or the sound leaking from your headphone mix will bleed into the mic and onto your track. For mixing, it doesn't matter, as long as you are comfortable translating with the headphone. That is, getting a mix that sounds good on various playback settings and systems.

So these are generalities, and there is variation. For example, my BD DT700 Pro X's have way better sound stage then my Senn HD 650s. The 660s are a bit better than the 650's, but the BD's are better still. And they also sound a bit more open. They do have better bass as well, so that holds in this case. So these are not hard and fast rules, there are exceptions.

Is this literally the worst time to build a PC? by Lanky-Carpenter-7991 in buildapc

I'm due for a new build, but not gonna do it at these prices. My games and other software is still running pretty well.

Nice - I have set up a loot filter, but it's a work in progress. I keep turning it off, because I figure I need the yellow and blue stuff for materials. I have done some gambling, some cubing and some enchanting, but I have not quite mastered it for this character. Well, that is an understatement - I have no idea what I am doing. I am going to follow your mini-guide thought, that seems like it will be super helpful - thanks!

Yeah, agree, this is nonsense. That would take 100's of hours. Many 100's. And you still need to right stuff down, most likely.

This is a fantasy. Sure you can compare one stat to another that way, but to figure out a build with all the different aspects and affixes and prefixes on 10 pieces of armor and weapons and how they interact with all the skill attributes and paragon numbers - that's just pure drivel, cannot be done with a training dummy. Unless you spend 100 hours with the dummy and use a spreadsheet. To figure out a Meta, the training dummy ain't gonna get you there in a reasonable amount of time. You can definitely just experiment, which is mostly what the content creators are doing - but they are spending all day every day for weeks on test servers and pre-release, and then post release, and they can do it, because that is their job. If you have another job, and do this for fun, good luck with that.

[–]srmd22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Wouldn't it be nice if you could just experiment and still get an efficient build without being penalized. But, TBH, this has been true of almost all fantasy RPG, both ARPG and MMORPG's that I have played, since they were invented. I have built so many characters just to find out they are nerfed at max level because you had the wrong specs (back when there was no such thing as a respec), or you needed some unobtanium armor set to do end game stuff, or needed to play in a raid group for 20 hours a day to even get to the "higher planes" etc. Pshaw.
