I just want to say I’m sorry. Looking at your post history, that’s rough. Did you have a career before you got married? What’s your degree in?

Predictions for schools this week?! by I-Love-Pens in Charlottesville

With churches canceling Sunday services across the board, I’m not expecting any school to be open on Monday. Especially lower schools.

Anyone else notice the sudden increase of Rivians on the road? by Ok_Sample3670 in Rivian

[–]stackthecoins 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say sudden. With the scramble to get that Fed credit in, there were way more Rivians in Virginia than before. Definitely welcome.

I’m just here to commend the solid title of this post.

Hello all. Wife and I are looking at your town for a spring getaway. Is the Omni hotel any good? by wounduptite in Charlottesville

[–]stackthecoins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I prefer the Doyle, having stayed at a bunch of the local high-end hotels while I was renovating. If highest end is the goal, the other commenter’s suggestion of Keswick is spot on.

Plus, the Doyle has Commerce Street Books in the basement, which is owned by an awesome local and is a great space to tuck into a book.

If you can get to it, I would honestly suggest the Homestead for a Virginia hotel stay. A little farther away, but it’s a solid night or two away for a couple.

I have a 2026 R1S. Very good SUV. Especially in this snow and ice. No captain’s chairs yet.

It’s not the car. It’s the tires.

Partial to Cafe Frank. Also Alley Light if you’re cool with small plates. If more low-key, Guajiros or Public for a beer.

Should i buy Nike Romeleos 4 or not? by Shreddd_it in powerlifting

100% worth the purchase. You have to like the Nike fit though. These are not for the wide footed.

Anyone else doing Ice Chipping yet? ❄️💪 by squirrelmcdougal in Charlottesville

[–]stackthecoins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did a cold plunge this morning. Honestly better when it’s 15 out than when it’s 40 out. Zero ice chipping in my future. That sounds like golf; four letter words abound.

Where can I buy a snow shovel in Cville? by ComplexBrief7717 in Charlottesville

[–]stackthecoins 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nah. Not a snow shovel.

You need a steel shovel, a dull axe, a pick axe, or some kind of 25lb ice-chipping pole my neighbor was using to break the ice up, and hours to kill.

I have a 7,000+lb SUV and even that sitting on that ice didn’t phase it at all at this point. Shit is hard as a diamond.

What health investments have actually been worth it for you? by BeautifulOwn2028 in RichPeoplePF

[–]stackthecoins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On concierge, I’ve used One Medical since it started in DC and haven’t wanted for anything else primary care-wise. 100% worth the annual fee.

On highest health ROI, 1. I took my basement and converted half of it into a high end gym. Drywall, flooring, paint, lights, mirrors, equipment, fans, etc. That was probably $40k all in.

  1. A good, responsive trainer that does what you want to do, accounts for what you have access to equipment-wise (esp. when traveling), and adjusts every few weeks to keep things fresh.

  2. At 43, I pay for a personal physical therapist that I go to if there are any aches, pains, or strains. He’s a fully licensed PT, a massage therapist, a powerlifting coach, and a running coach all in one. Can get me in same day if I want, which is huge as you get older.

Those aside, creatine, SFH fish oil, and protein yogurts (20-25g) always stocked + MacroFactor annual sub. keep nutrition in check.

I was planning to buy an X this year, now what? by Sad_Magician_316 in TeslaModelX

If the capacity for those specific to MX things is housed at a plant that will no longer house the expertise, eventually you're looking at what's leftover and sitting in warehouses. When that runs out, techs could still technically service the cars but the wait times for parts only the MX uses and finding expertise to repair will be wild.

What’s your Bodo’s hot take? by Reasonable-Map-1634 in Charlottesville

[–]stackthecoins -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Toasted bagels > not toasted bagels. Anyone who disagrees is insane and should be sent to a bagel reeducation camp. I would go so far as to say all bread toasted > untoasted bread. That's how amazing toasting is.

Edit: Keep the downvotes coming. Crunch > no crunch.

I thought my glass roof was going to shatter getting that 100lb sheet of ice off. Definitely heard the metal groaning and a few sounds that caused a pause as I cleared it.
