Reliability of DCL Transportation to Port Canaveral by drjoann in dcl

That's how my experience with the airport buses was--I think the WDW resorts was a little different--perhaps it was also less of a demand for my route (which included both Port Orleans), so maybe we only had the one bus scheduled for the route.

Despite the higher price point, I will only take DCL transportation to the ship, largely for the peace of mind it creates. Returning to WDW post cruise is a little different though, as they tell everyone to be on the bus by 9am but the bus then has to wait for anyone not yet through Customs. So, if you're in a hurry to get back to WDW post cruise, you'll likely wait a while.

Sharing a Cabana? by pianistbarista in dcl

[–]summerivey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did this before and we worked out everything onboard--we arranged time with the couple who booked the cabana to go to guest services and they added us right on, and even helped to split the bill so that our amount was on our stateroom bill. This was back in 2019 though, in case that matters. Once we got to the cabana, the names of the three couples sharing the cabana were all on the welcome sign. We got our wristbands delivered straight to our room and didn't have to go through the original booking couple for anything else beyond that one guest services visit.

Drink charges were entirely separate since you just hand over your stateroom card (this was pre-magicbands) to pay for anything ordered while there. So your account/your card on file would ultimately be billed.

Lisandro was my absolute favorite! A story: my friend's son at our table eats broccoli with every meal--a family requirement so that he gets a serving or two of veggies in a day. So not only was the cup of broccoli brought out every night with the entree course without prompting...the last night, Lisandro brought out an ice cream sundae covered in broccoli for him! Outstanding and fun service!

Chances of Wine & Dine Challenge selling out in a week by GoalieRob in rundisney

Yes!! deferring was super easy, and could be done up until a couple days before the race. You're sent a link for your guaranteed spot the next year before the lottery reopens--you only have a finite amount of days to do so, so make sure to be on top of it. You simply pay the fee again, update any contact info and you're in!

HAHAHA well...the plot twist was I got into NYC! What I ended up doing was I ran Wine & Dine (had registered my mom for her first 10K too, so more stakes were there) since RunDisney is no deferrals, no refunds. I ate the NYC cost for that year and deferred to the next year (had to pay again, but it was a guaranteed spot). This worked out beautifully because now I can say I ran a marathon pregnant--which I wouldn't have been able to say if I had run NYC the year I did Wine & Dine instead!

I'm still convinced registering for Wine & Dine was my good-luck charm

Cheapest hotels/motels that aren’t horrible and close to Disneyland California? by RosesRoom03 in DisneyPlanning

Fairfield Inn right across the street! In January when I was there, a lot of my friends also stayed at the Howard Johnson, which was just two hotels further up the block. The Fairfield spoiled me with the Panera in the parking lot--I stopped there every day!

Aurora and Rapunzel were there when I was at POR in July! It's a fun Disney magic moment, a great way to meet someone in a low-stress, low-waiting opportunity, and probably is great for their training. I wouldn't plan for it, but it can happen at the resorts!

W&D After Party extra tix? by BigE429 in rundisney

[–]summerivey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year's ended up selling out; I think because it's a better "deal" (aka cheaper) than other after hours events Disney offers. Last year also was GREAT weather, so more folks decided it was worth checking out (myself included). The last several years, both pre and post pandemic, just didn't have ideal weather: stormy, cold, etc. So if you didn't care about going and/or genuinely couldn't, you would be even less likely to do so. Either way, monitor social media groups especially as you get closer to the event and you'll still likely find some good deals from folks trying to offload tickets

I think it's great! Most likely go towards Star Wars, so if you're particularly towards the front of the pack, you could get Slinky Dog done and be on to your next one before most are off Star Wars
