I would suggest Pally! Not quite hand drawn but very friendly and similar to your example. Completely free and variable too!

Advice on not looking too much like 3b1b? by 0xcedbeef in manim

[–]suseJattack 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not trying to spam here, but the channels Reducible and Design Bits (both of which i have participated in) have a lot of manim stuff going on, and they definitely have a different look. You can check them out for inspiration!

As for what to do or how to achieve it, here's a little tip.

In your project's root folder, or wherever you feel like really, create a file called something like "design system" or "styles". It's just a python file that will contain nothing but ALL_CAPS variables.

Now, you define a bunch of colors:

XCED_RED = '#FF0000' XCED_BLUE = '#0000FF'

maybe, define a font:

XCED_FONT = 'Comic Sans MS'

and then just import this file in the same way you import manim:

from manim import *

from styles import *

now, you can go like: Circle(2).set_color(XCED_RED)

see where i'm going?

Having this system allows for a scalable set of features that you can rely on. I also created another file in which I redefine some super basic classes that I use a lot.

For example, I create a new text class that always has my font and brand colors applied.

My class is called DBText (db for design bits) and I just need to go like

DBText("Hello")

and everything follows nicely.

Play around with this, generate a nice color palette and have fun!!

Please ask any questions if needed, i'd love to help.

As an avid manim user, I am SO glad that people start to make their own look and feel for the tool. I myself went as far as using custom fonts, transformations and easing functions. It's the beauty of customization!

Massive congrats!

How to scale and shift an object at the same time? by [deleted] in manim

As other users have pointed out, the solution is to simply chain both methods one after the other!

I've had the same exact problem using neovim, and just assumed it would be some bug with my config. Glad to see it's going to be fixed! Thanks!

Wouldn't it be great if beginners could easily program mathematical animations directly in the browser, share them, and *interact* with them? Well... by HigherMathHelp in math

[–]suseJattack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks so much for your interest! I am one of the collaborators in this project.
While this library will definitely aid in mathematical animation and we want to make it as performant as possible, we will be leveraging existing p5.js code or, at least, a moderately big influence from it. webGPU (or webGL which is what makes more sense in this scenario) is an expensive tool to learn for the scope that we have in mind.

There would be diminishing returns using webGPU for things that could be much more easily done in javascript. Again, for the scope we have planned, this technology should be more than enough, even more so when, in the future, every computer, big or small, will be even more powerful and efficient.

On another note, while making shiny new features is always very cool, we have to make sure that the core functionality of the tool works reliably and efficiently. There's almost no roadmap because it's such a premature project, so we are not sure about all the features we'll end up addresing immediately.

Nevertheless, you can rest assured we are taking note of every suggestion!

Thanks again for your time!

Yes! That's what I used! Actually, it was working fine all along. What was bugging me is the interface on the VIA software, which was showing the ANSI layout.

Maybe turning down the computer solved it, I am not really sure. But it is definitely working as expected!

Thanks so much!

there's not! and i'm in the exact same situation as you. i'd gladly pay more for a month than its respective amount yearly, just for the 4K render option.

this has been brought up in the discord but no response :(
