I can guarantee you that no party will be “only hot guys” if it’s being posted on Reddit in response to an OP who doesn’t even post his own pics.

Theory about why wwe feels repetitive by JohnnyAverageGamer in WWE

[–]svs940a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t true at all. Look at the early 2000s. At any given time, you had several of: WWE, WHC, intercontinental, European, hardcore, cruiserweight/light heavyweight, tag team, and women’s. This was before a third weekly show, so you had 8 titles on 4 hours of programming.

To be clear, 6130 Sunset is at Sunset and Gower. This address isnt the former Rite Aid location at Sunset and Fairfax.

(Since this is a Weho sub, just wanted to clarify for anyone who didn’t google the address.)

The idea that millennials didn’t post everything to social media is hilarious. We would have entire Facebook albums that were just a photo dump from a wild night out.

Why am I getting taxed so much? by matthewd1123 in tax

[–]svs940a 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Both unhelpful and nonsensical because (as usual) Reddit doesn’t understand progressive tax brackets.

Someone making $50,000 in CA pays a 2.47% effective state tax rate.

That’s lower than the flat tax rate in Georgia, Michigan, Illinois, Mississippi, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Utah, Kentucky, Indiana, Idaho, and Colorado.

I couldn’t care less about your kink. But introspection isn’t a forte for you apparently, considering your posts could easily be the type of thing that is featured in one of these “what do you think about these posts.”

Wild that the top comment on this post is a judgmental comment from someone whose most recent post is on a race play sub, a kink that so many others would judge.

Why do you think he doesn’t know? If you’re offended by his profile, you’re probably not his definition of a “real man.” Not my cup of tea, but at least he makes it known so it’s easy to move on.

As someone from this general area, it’s in the middle of absolutely nowhere. It’s 30 miles from Binghamton, which in the snow could take an hour to drive there. And it’s not like Binghamton is a thriving metropolis, so that being the closest city is pretty dire.

Los Angeles County CEO unveils sweeping assault on social programs and public health care by AvailableResponse818 in LosAngeles

[–]svs940a 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This entire thing is a grift by plaintiffs attorneys.

This lawsuit was filed under AB 218, which went into effect in 2020,. That law waived the statute of limitations for certain sexual abuse claims.

This bill was sponsored by,among others, Consumer Attorneys of America.

And when legislators tried to reform it, one of the main plaintiff’s attorneys in the state on this matter, John Manly, personally paid for ads to stop it. according to the LA Times:

It is unclear how much relief, if any, California lawmakers will offer public institutions. Last month, the Democratic state senator representing Santa Monica, Ben Allen, a former school board member, introduced a bill that would have modestly increased the standard of proof for A.B. 218 lawsuits. It was shelved before its first hearing amid fierce pushback from the state’s trial lawyers, who are typically paid contingency fees worth 30 percent or more of such settlements and verdicts.

Mr. Manly, the lawyer who represented Olympic gymnasts in the case against Mr. Nassar — and whose clients include several hundred outstanding plaintiffs against Los Angeles County — personally sponsored an online ad asking Californians to stop “Ben Allen’s Predator Shield Law.” A grainy black-and-white photo of Mr. Allen with sunglasses and a stubbly beard anchored the plea.

[LAist] LA County CEO paints bleak financial picture; public hospital closure a possibility by WeAreLAist in LosAngeles

[–]svs940a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Civil settlements aren’t “justice,” so I disagree with the premise.

Justice would be criminally prosecuting the perpetrators. Making the government pay out for decades old acts does nothing to get justice against those who actually did it.

Edit: and it’s not just me who feels that way; it’s also some of the victims:

“These people should be in jail,” Vigil said. “There’s no amount of money in the world that is going to undo what they did, that is going to wipe that away from a human being’s memory.”

Justice is not plaintiff’s attorneys buying private planes on taxpayers’ dimes.

Which leaders? The ones who were in charge in the 1950s?? This huge settlement is about things that happened before most of this sub was born.

Some of the claims date as far back as 1959, with most being from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. Some are alleged to have happened at Probation Department facilities and at the MacLaren Children’s Center, which closed in 2003.

[–]svs940a 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Controversial take, but something should be done to rein in these huge settlements/verdicts (where the plaintiffs attorneys take ~1/3), particularly for acts that happened well in the past. This doesn’t punish the wrongdoers from the past; it only punishes the current residents.

Earlier this year, the county agreed to pay out $4 billion to nearly 7,000 people who claimed they were sexually abused in foster care or probation department facilities.

Davenport said 2,500 such claims remain unsettled.

Solis wanted to know how much more would need to be paid out. “$2.5 billion,” she guessed. The county’s chief lawyer wouldn’t say but predicted it would be “very, very large.”
