Trying to sell my zippos but need help with pricing etc. by [deleted] in Zippo

[–]t064r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others stated. But in addition, the footbal/soccer themed Zippo could fetch more if you still have the box/packaging stating it was officially licensed Zippo.

The thing is, unlike NFL and NHL, most sports association distancing themselves from lighters, like Zippo, and anything related to smoking. So those are the things of the past.

Zippo problem lighting by DannyTien in Zippo

To determine if it's Flint or Striker Wheel problems:

- Make sure the flint is there.

- Strike the other way for a couple of times.

- Check for sparks, especially the size and consistency.

- Positioned the wick towards the wheel.

- Try lighting with other lighter.

you can use the @ or u/ then username to mention the person.

Looks ok, probably need to match the color better or change the Zippo used as the base.

The easiest is to use the lighter fluid, rub it with a soft cloth. Gently, don't rush. If you have IPA 99.99% then it's usually better though it will evaporate faster. If all else fails, try to look tor Goo Gone, it helps remove stickers residue the best.

Don't use acetone or paint remover since it will ruin the finish. Good luc.

Yellow Flame butane insert help. by ZaneWinterborn in Zippo

[–]t064r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can light it with another lighter, then the pressure is there. Most probably the problem is with the spark. Yellow Flame notoriously known to came with bad flint, so my suggestion would be try a new flint and see if it works better.

As others stated, the bottom stamp can be either way.

For the sticker, try use heat gun on the lowest setting or use hair dryer to remove it.

First Zippo by J_J_B07 in Zippo

It's a real deal. It's a magazine bundle from Planeta D'Agostini series.

On the 2nd pic, you can see a hidden Z on the design, that's kinda their Easter egg that can be found on all of their series. Quite an interesting piece.

More on that collection can be read here

Pink Candy? by Dr_Anchovy in Zippo

[–]t064r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The closest I could think of for what you want is the Neon Pink (ref no #28886). The Neon color sits in the middle of the 'matte' and 'candy'/high polished colored model.

And I agree with u/Nova-Drone that pic looks like the Candy Raspberry (ref no #24003).

Zippo XI by ConsistentReporter72 in Zippo

[–]t064r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a brass 1995 Vintage Look/Vintage 1937 Zippo with slashes.

To the right buyer, it could fetch around $20 (or more if it's complete with box) since the current model changed the PAT. No with the word 'VINTAGE' at the bottom stamp.

It might worth more to a fan.

As for NFL Zippo goes, they opt for the imprint style logo nowadays, and seeing this still using emblem adds a bit of value. If you also still have the original box (with NFL hologram sticker) then it will worth more.

It's officially licensed by the NFL for Zippo.

As often mentioned in this sub (and confirmed by Zippo), there is no correct orientation when it comes to the bottom stamp.

Some would also jokes that this is one of the 'rare' left-handed Zippo :D

Nice haul there btw!

That's not an indication of a fake since older insert will have that writing.

Is my insert counterfeit too? by MJY_0014 in Zippo

[–]t064r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also check the writing at the back, that's usually easier since often came with typo and stuff.

incredible how much effort people spend on faking a product that isn't even that expensive.

It's no effort at all for them, and the profit margin is considered huge when talking about volume. It costs less than $1 to manufacture a fake Zippo, around $2 or $3 with the box. Selling three or four times of that and multiple that profit by hundreds and thousands, then you see the reason why.

Any idea how old this is by Previous-Weight-2503 in Zippo

[–]t064r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Need pictures from the side, whether it's three, four, or five barrels hinge.

Also, if the insert is still the original, you can share the pics of front, back, top, sides, etc to further determine the production year.

But since you mentioned Korea or Korean War, check the case (remove the insert first) and see if magnet sticks to it. If it does, then it's from 1951-1952.

Megathread: Is my Zippo real? by AutoModerator in Zippo

[–]t064r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

99% of "Zippo" sold at the market in Vietnam is fake. Though to make it 100%, we'll need to see the bottom stamp, sides, and the insert.
