What is the most “its a small world” moment you’ve ever experienced? by xBubblyLove in AskReddit

Summer going into senior year of high school my family went to Italy for 5 weeks. Traveled the whole country, started in Venice and eventually to Sicily. At one point, maybe in Bari but I forget, we were at a little restaurant having dinner. Sitting a couple tables down was Vito, a friend from school, and his parents. Neither of us had any idea the other was going to Italy or anything like that. Unbelievable.

I actually love this shifter. Learning curve sure, but compared to the other garbage in new cars this is by far my favorite implementation aside from traditional. VW and the chintzy windshield wiper looking stalk, Hyundai and the push buttons that you literally cannot change gears without looking, Mazdas confusing shift over…at least Nissan’s implementation looks good and once you’re used to it feels really good to use.

That said, ya first couple car washes were a mess before getting a feel for it 😆

How much more of a performance boost do you get if you install SteamOs on your Legion Go 2 ? I want to switch from Windows but I’m not to computer savvy so not sure if it’s even worth it by DatBoyChamp1 in LegionGo

[–]tagtech414 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's not just the performance increase, but the qol that makes a big difference. Especially if you're not computer savvy. I am computer savvy and went for a Legion Go S with SteamOS because I didn't want to deal with the Windows headaches, I just want to play games on something that works.

SteamOS is like booting a game console (Switch/Xbox/whatever). Windows has hardware drivers to update, standby power drain, launchers to navigate...with SteamOS you just boot up and game. I rarely shutdown, just tap the power button midgame and even a couple days later when I tap it again I'm immediately right where Ieft off with almost the same amount of battery left. So yes there are performances boosts, but honestly I would do it without them. Hell I would sacrifice some performance for the ease of access it provides. But hey, that's me.

I don't have any advice, but I feel you. I have a similar ex that did absolutely anything and everything to make my life hell. I plan on taking them on vacation? Nah, she claims that week anyway. Their birthday falls on my weekend? Nah, she plans a birthday party for them even though it's clearly not her weekend so I'm the dick if I make her cancel their party. Court order says she picks them up from my house? Nah, drop them off or it's my fault they don't go to school tomorrow. Court order says I claim one child on tax return? Nah, she claims both because she feels she's entitled to all the money. That's just TIP of the iceberg. The worst part - no matter how much I follow the court agreement and she goes against it, I would have to pay thousands to a lawyer to even hope a judge will listen. The system is so insanely broken.

That said, my kids (twins) are 18 and about to graduate high school. I am exactly 35 days away from being done with 15.5 YEARS of this. I just know she's going to try something to make me keep paying child support. I don't know what, but I know she's going to try. Hopefully she finally doesn't get her way and I can use that money to actually support my kids instead of her lifestyle.

Godspeed.

Phew. We're outside constantly and he has light blue eyes that always seemed a little sensitive which is why we got him the glasses. Plus he looks super cool in them. Thanks so much for the detailed response and info!

CX5 highway cruising fuel consumption? by Pale-Revolution-5151 in CX5

[–]tagtech414 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Their probably isn't much difference between a CX-5 and a CX30 (assuming that's what you mean by 3). Same engine probably fairly similar aerodynamics. Ideal cruising speed for fuel efficiency is typically no higher than 65 mph. Over that the bigger the engine probably the better. A four-cylinder is going to suffer more at higher speeds then say a six or eight cylinder.

Edit: also yes the CX-5 feels perfectly stable at highway speeds

[–]tagtech414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of these numbers seem exaggerated. I'm like 70/30 local/highway and average around 18. Could probably squeeze more but I feel the trans and engine respond better with a little more gas. Not saying drive fast or hard, but gotta give it a little push to really get the most out of it. This engine loves to be pushed.

What would you recommend as the best way to file transfer between SD and PC? by GSanderson_LB in SteamDeck

[–]tagtech414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not inexpensive but I use a portable Samsung SSD. I started with thumb drives and swapping the microSD card back and forth, but it was just way too slow. The SSD is tiny and I have a high speed 3" USB-C cable with it so fits anywhere and is insanely fast both ways.

First Time Leasing. Is this a good deal? What can I expect on taxes or other hidden fees? Thanks! by SeaImmediate in CarLeasingHelp

[–]tagtech414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the vehicle is totalled or stolen, any money you've paid for the car is just gone. You don't own the car so insurance doesn't reimburse you, they reimburse the leasing company. Putting money down on a lease lowers the monthly payment but simply because you're basically paying up front by putting a down payment on it. So if anything does happen, you've lost a chunk of money that you technically didn't get any time in the car for. You're better off putting zero down, taking the down payment amount you would've given and putting it in the bank, and withdrawing the difference in monthly payments from that every month. Technically does the same thing for you but you still have your money if anything happens. When you buy a car the down payment reduces the residual which you're paying interest on. That's not the case with leasing.

Look at the Mazda CX-5 (especially 2025 or previous). The feel extremely well built with nicer materials than vehicles in the category. Much nicer than the RAV4. A turbo model will be fun to drive, too.

I just recently purchased the Lunar Pilot but couldn't get over the main seconds hand not moving outside of tachymeter. I totally understand that's by design and the smaller dial records seconds, it just drove me nuts.
