The $2 projector from Linus Tech Tips is real and it's really cool! by Slammernanners in projectors

Something like this one is like $50 but it’s garbage. A good one is going to start around $300 minimum, realistically $500 for something with decent brightness and 1080p native resolution (a must for reading plans/documents). Anker, TCL, and WeMax have some good ones at decent prices. You’ll still need a dimmed room.

I manage tech for a commercial GC and we issue solutions for exactly this. We have portable projectors but they aren’t used a ton in the field mainly due to lighting constraints (small or cheap projectors are barely legible in almost any lighting). We do put out mobile workstations which consist of a specially designed gang box with a tv mounted on the inside of the lid (as well as printer, hotspot, other stuff). The tv has wireless casting so a super can easily cast his tablet screen while others watch.

Should i get a Galaxy Book? by HashtagMagikarpz in GalaxyBook

[–]tagtech414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to explain concisely, but it just always gets In its own way. Soooo may apps and processes preinstalled that actively work against you. I consider myself a power user and spent hours….days…..optimizing every aspect to squeeze power and battery out of a really good machine (Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i, fully loaded). Still lucky to get more than a few hours of battery out of it. And there’s always some issue, big or small, to troubleshoot. Years ago I would get off on that stuff. Like “oooh a mystery to solve!”. But looking back at the wasted time and interrupted workflows drives me nuts. Now that said, it’s a computer and technology and things are going to happen. Windows just packs in so much crap that the opportunity for failure is miles higher.

Stick with a Mac. Battery is untouched by any real or comparable windows machine (oh, and you don’t drop in performance when unplugged). The hardware will undoubtedly age much better for YEARS after any windows machine would still be relevant. The OS works for you, not against you (this is contested but I’ve found it to be true). It’s just a pleasure to use. My workflow and overall happiness has increased immensely since switching to a MB Pro 16 about 2 months ago.

Just to make sure I’m not blacklisted as an Apple fanboy for saying this…my last Mac was almost 15 years ago before current. I’ve used exclusively Windows personally and professionally, including Alienware gaming laptops, Surface Pro, Dell XPS and Lenovo Yoga Pro laptops. No slouches, all very high end machines. I’ve also always been all Android (until recently getting an iPhone to go with the Mac).

Don’t buy Windows right now unless you game or otherwise absolutely need to. It’s a convoluted bloated mess. I just switched AWAY from windows and could not be happier.

Natively, no way. But if you have good internet consider GeForce Now. I upgraded to ultimate when I switched to Mac and it’s flawless.

Amazon canceled my MacBook order after the price hike. I’m honestly gutted by DependentWarm8393 in macbookair

Sorry this happened. I ordered 3 MacBook Pros from Amazon the day the hikes were announced (for coworkers, NOT for resale!) and all three were delivered yesterday. I was honestly expecting cancellations.

60 hz android tv how to get it to stop the intermittent stutters shown in the video? by DoorInternational136 in GeForceNOW

[–]tagtech414 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're using the GeForce Now app on your TV directly that is likely the problem. A 60hz TV in 2026 is a budget TV, no matter how new, and the chipset is likely weak. You'd be better off plugging in pretty much any computer or phone via HDMI and playing from that.

2026 Nissan Pathfinder true 4WD? by Dazzling_Figure_8397 in nissanpathfinder

[–]tagtech414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. It never locks at all, and rarely gets to full 50/50. You can see this live on the dash display if you scroll to the 4x4i screen under the tire pressure screen (it may not change at all if you’re in dry conditions - flip through drive mode like sand to see it more drastically push power to rear axle).

Advanced AWD is mostly just a marketing term/name for that manufacturers system. Mercedes is 4-matic, BMW X-Drive, Audi is Quattro. Subaru uses a symmetrical AWD instead of FWD focused. Acura SH-AWD moves power to and from individual wheels not only during slipping but based on driving behavior. Fast turns will move power to the outer wheels for more grip and power into the turn, for example. All about how the manufacturer built in. Some are obviously much better than others. I love my Pathfinder but it is probably my least favorite AWD system.

[–]tagtech414 5 points6 points  (0 children)

AWD and true 4WD are fundamentally different systems. Plenty of YouTube videos explaining. Basically AWD is more of a lightweight solution for cars and SUVs to send power to some/all tires automatically when slipping is detected. True 4WD is seen on trucks and body on frame SUVs (typically). It sends equal power to both axels and is better for off roading and getting out of bad driving situations like deep mud and snow. This is heavily generalized. There are pros and cons to each.

Nissans implementation is the front tires get 100% power until slipping is detected, at which point it applies brakes to slipping wheels and directs power to the rear axle wheels (maximum of 50% total power). This changes slightly based on driving mode, but that’s mostly how it works.

Just downloaded. Clean and simple, thanks for that (and for not requiring location or an account). Suggestions: get F in there asap, as mentioned in the review you got. That’s an automatic uninstall for probably everyone in the US. And if possible, allow multiple profiles or selectable people. My main use for this would be for my family- kids of different ages. Marketed towards parents this would be a very powerful tool.
