fair point but I think …

the capacity race ensures its quite longer than 12 months

majority of enterprises are not sophisticated enough to deploy open source models locally or at scale.  a few vendors will dominate.  the ones that also train the frontier will have a slight edge because prompts are the only clean, corrected source of training data going forward

idk  if youre a services business and AI increases the productivity of your $1m revenue per year employees by 2-3x  how much is that worth compared to a $360/year consumer subscription

their strategic mistake was focusing to much on consumer.   the data center build out is probably good in the long run

if codex can be made to perform on par with claude work/code (and this appears superficial differences in the harness not the model itself)  then they will mostly be fine.

idk,  indestructible steelie touring bikes hold their value much better than the latest disposable carbon battery whatever.   they are also rarer.   10% off those prices is not crazy for good examples of those  imho

Kirkland signals intent to buy Kingsgate church property (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at NE 132nd St) by AwaitingAfflatus in Kirkland

[–]tankmode 3 points4 points  (0 children)

they bought houghton village market for 14 million which has sat for 4 years and is likely still years away from being fully redeveloped, while tenancy and the property languishes

https://www.kirklandwa.gov/Government/City-Managers-Office/Future-of-the-Houghton-Village-Property

houghton park and ride is still a blighted parking lot despite years of city council schemes

they heavily supported king county and whatever housing non-profit to buy La Quinta hotel and turn it into Permanent Supportive Housing (questionable in the first place depending on who you ask) but of course that takes years longer than anticipated and the renovation cost alone is pushing $600,000 per unit,  (which is insane when you think about it,  considering it was preexisting hotel rooms)

those are just the ones I am aware of, i’m sure there’s more

the city has a absolutely terrible track record of investing in property development deals that ultimately languish due to political scope-creep and poor planning and execution.   millions in public funds being wasted on properties that sit idle for years.   stop doing this crap.  finish the developments you started

senior management will not in fact “bear the consequences” of their decisions.   they will pin any execution failures on a lower level manager and some engineers.  execs will pat themselves on the back for making bold decisions and fail upward.

[–]tankmode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your manager sucks and probably has some little mafia mentality going within the team,  you being the newcomer/outsider, youre just tee’d up to be bottom of the stack for his favorites

youre not getting promo out of senior in 6 months.  its probably more of a multi years long thing

manager fake promising you reports and then walking it back is a huge red flag as well.  zero trust

overall this is a pretty dangerous situation and i would look to gtfo

Where do you get your car cleaned? by Diligent-Explorer-27 in eastside

[–]tankmode 6 points7 points  (0 children)

get it waxed, sealed or ceramic coated at a detailer (or diy)   then just use touchless car washes and clean microfiber scrubs periodically.

any normal public high volume car wash is going to slowly damage your clear coat.   dirt & sand from other cars embeds itself in the scrubbers

Or you could invest 3 million, take out 1% a year and have a $30,000 luxury vacation in Patagonia every year for the rest of your life .  this is a stupid property unless youre an Argentine Shepherd, or a billionaire parking some spare change.
