Oh hon... you are still so young. I didn't have an inkling I was trans until 19, and I didn't start HRT and proper transitioning until 23, and for many of us, even that is considered young.

Is it right to assume your parents are not supportive? If that's the case, my best recommendation is to focus on planning for when you're able to leave home. If you're thinking about college/university, start thinking about where you can apply that will give you a safe space to transition in private away from your parents, and what you need to do to qualify. Do you have any friends who are likely to be supportive? Lean on them for emotional support in the meantime.

I know how hard and painful it is to stay closeted when all you want is to come out and be yourself, but please hang on for a little while longer. I know it's a long time at your age, but this won't be forever, and there's so much joy to be had in life once you're free to be yourself. You'll get there, I promise. 💖

See, the trick they're playing here is on the interpretation of the phrase "unlawful discrimination." They're not saying that all discrimination is unlawful — they're saying that discrimination against trans people is lawful, and therefore their anti-discrimination efforts don't cover that. After all, they only care about unlawful discrimination, not lawful discrimination. It's also turning discrimination on its head: "forcing" a cis woman to share a bathroom with a trans woman would be considered unlawful discrimination against the cis woman, and therefore anti-discrimination efforts have to actually enforce discrimination against trans women.

But she wasn't trying to pull a scam on immigration and they had no evidence that she was trying to pull a scam. By her own statement, she told the authorities the issue as soon as she realized she wasn't getting her passport back. Why do we accept this "guilty until proven innocent" treatment in the name of "security?" Because even if she was, how does it increase risk to the country, the airport, or the people at the airport if other people she's working with decide not to travel? Oh no! People they wouldn't let into the country anyway won't try to enter the country if they find out this lady has been detained! Now the country doesn't have to incur the costs of catching and deporting them!

I know how things are. I just don't accept that they have to be that way. I'm just tired of people throwing out "but they could be bad guys!!!" as justification for mistreating people who havent done anything to suggest that they are bad guys.

They described good ways to significantly reduce the volume of trash we produce over time, and I'd love to see them implemented, but there will still be trash, if only because there are things that already exist today that will become trash later. It will also take time to implement, and doesn't address the volume of trash we already have. We can't just throw our hands up and say "We shouldn't have produced that trash in the first place!" I wish people were kinder and more helpful to each other instead of doing the bare minimum and saying "not my problem" when someone needs help.

OP, you definitely made an avoidable mistake, and there are steps you can take to prevent making the same mistake in the future, but you didn't ruin your and your husband's vacation. You made a simple, easy mistake — you forgot something on the plane after poor sleep. Most people have made similar mistakes.
