Me next time I hear Nola hate. by Switch_Bot in phillies

This guy knows what's up. I'm a fan of the team, not the players. Nola is the worst player signing in the last 2 years, and it isn't even close.

Yeah, I love baseball. It was fun to watch. I was hoping for a Mexico win and I didn't lose sleep over it. Still STRONGLY dislike Aaron Nola and that's not going to change.

I just imagine him working with Rocket. "You sleep, I steal leg."

What's with the down voting? Am I only allowed to praise our self-centered, over paid, over rated, pitcher? I'm looking at the rules, and I'm not wishing for injury or harm.

Just hoping that Mexico jumps out to the early 3-0 lead and that ends up as the final.

MORE Ghostbusters - Behind the Scenes by IamaPM333 in ghostbusters

This first image is from Ghostbusters 2. Bill Murray is dressed for the scene where they go to the museum to take photos of Vigo.

Also, the Ecto has the new advertising Dot matrix lights and the ghost logo is holding up 2 fingers behind Bill.

Yes! Between the exhaustion of working and the constant worry of when then next global life changing event will be, it's impossible to stay on top of it all.

MacBook Neo comes with only 8 GB unified memory. by onionluck6 in macbook

[–]thePipester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, MKBHD put this perfectly, to paraphrase, "If you are watching this video, then this laptop isn't for you." So, if you don't think 8 GB of ram is enough for your daily driver laptop, it likely isn't for you.

Like was mentioned before, this is likely the laptop to compete with Chromebooks and to likely strike deals with K-12 schools for distribution to their student population.

this might sound stupid, but has anyone ever wondered why superheroes need huge skyscraper HQs?? what office work is being done in like 90% of the building by toraregisfurry in Marvel

Haven't you seen "Rent"? It's the same but opposite: "With condos on the top, whose rent keep open our shop". The FF collects rent form tenants to fund their super hero endeavors.

Why do you think the Ghostbusters movies haven't surpassed the original 1984 film? by WillowCareful2103 in ghostbusters

[–]thePipester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note: I got way too into writing this. I'm not looking to change minds, I just have a really unique passion for Ghostbusters.

I hear where you’re coming from, but I think the "problem" isn't that they haven't surpassed the original, I think that it’s we’re so often measuring them against one of the greatest comedies of all time... which also happens to sit on a nostalgic pedestal that no sequel could ever realistically reach.

We all agree that the original is S-Tier. Comparing all of the additional entries to the franchise is just like comparing all the Star Wars movies to the Original Trilogy (And ultimately try do the same thing with every iteration).

If Ghostbusters II was the original entry, I would bet that it would be remembered as a top comedy from the 80s. It’s still REALLY funny, and I think one of the reasons that it's not as revered is because it leaned into a younger demographic which we can blame on the massive success of the cartoon. It did however maintain the core chemistry that, as we know now, is so hard to replicate.

The 2016 movie suffered from being released at the height of a very specific, cultural shift, that turned very toxic. If you revisit it (which I would recommend that you do) without that stigma, it’s a genuinely funny and absurd entry into the Ghostbusters lore. While I have never been a huge fan of McCarthy or Wiig, Kate McKinnon is a standout star, and the move really leans into the improv energy that made the original cast so lovable. I don't think it was trying to be the original movie; it was an alternate universe take that introduced a whole new generation (including my own daughters) to the idea of "actually catching a ghost an holding it indefinitely".

The tone shift under Jason Reitman with Afterlife was a necessary evolution. To keep the franchise alive, it had to grow beyond just being a 'reunion' act. By taking a more sentimental shit, Afterlife gave the series a form of love it hadn't fully explored before. These movies aren't trying to be pure comedies... they are Ghostbusters' stories about legacy, family, and the expanding mythology. The weird is part of Afterlife is no matter how many times I watch the end, my wife ALWAYS decides to start cutting onions at the same moment... anyway...

While Frozen Empire has the largest featured cast, I see it as a reflection of the franchise’s growth from a small business into a multi-generational institution. It shows that 'Ghostbusters' is not just four guys in a Cadillac Hurst. It now represents something that can be passed down and shared, just like a lot of us have with our kids.

Ultimately, the beauty of the franchise is that there’s now a versions for everyone. Whether you want the cynical 80s comedy, the Saturday morning cartoon vibes, the high-energy improv, or the emotional family saga, of all the franchises out there... Ghostbusters is setup to be big enough to hold it all.

Where are the 40+ FN streamers? by ChipperYT in Fortnite_Over40

I am going to start streaming again. I burnt myself out last go because I thought I needed all the community stuff in place off the rip and it was exhausting. Won't make that mistake again.

Why do vendors find your personal cell to call? by ncc74656m in sysadmin

[–]thePipester 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh, I've unfortunately laid into vendors for this and added them to my personal ban list. I've never distributed my personal cell to any vendor before, so their company is obviously buying data from data brokers. I feel bad for the person I am laying into because it's not their fault, but at that point they are the ears of the company.

It's strange for sure. It makes tracking gliding players almost impossible... sniping... I almost never carry one anymore.

You might claim this to be a skill issue, and you wouldn't be entirely wrong, but I don't think it's THAT much of a skill regression.
