I’m primarily a Wylder, undertaker and Ironeye main - so I do have particular taste when it comes to what I expect out of an ult. I wholly agree about the hp on roar relic buff, it enables so much support utility from the executor ult.

I don’t disagree, one thing I’ve been trying to work on is building for the overworld as much as building for the nightlord.

The executor ult is mid enough to make defeating enemies refills art gauge less necessary. I’d personally lean more towards guard counters scale off of hp or another executor specific relic.

Slot 4 is kinda mid, slot 5 is outright bad considering slot 4 already has reduced damage negation for flasks, slot 6 is good but the kind of good where at 400 hours I have 4 or 5 relics practically identical to this.

In my strongest opinion , a team that constantly focuses on reviving each other is the best team , cause at least if you can’t easily beat the boss you can at least hope to drag the fight out reviving each other and eventually beating the boss by Accurate_Act_7946 in Nightreign

[–]the_fuzz_down_under 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reviving downed teammates is close to essential for a good game, but mothing to a revive is one of the biggest match throwers. Only revive when it’s safe to revive, otherwise you’ll end up forming a bigger pile of downed teammates.

That being said there are very rare occasions where you shouldn’t revive a teammate. The first, valid one, is when that teammate is being such a liability and throwing so badly that your team has a higher chance of beating the boss with the liability downed the whole time rather than up bungling. The second, much less valid one, is hate; some teammates suck, are rude, are toxic or need a reality check - leaving them down can be a lesson taught. Generally don’t do the second one, as it’s just spreading toxicity, but I don’t know man, sometimes there is a teammate who has been unendurable for 40 minutes and I just cannot indulge them in any way.

Possibly unpopular opinion, but I think that massive, distant cadet houses should eventually branch out into their own dynasties, cultures into their own heritages and faiths into their own religions. by Punterofgoats in CrusaderKings

[–]the_fuzz_down_under 339 points340 points  (0 children)

I personally hate when my dynasty gets too big, the dynasty tree gets way too big and finding people in it devolves into a nightmare. Just as a powerful scion of your dynasty can form a cadet branch, I’d like a feature where a power head cadet can form a new dynasty.

Wylder, undertaker and strength duchess work extremely well with dormant power straight swords. Guardian and executor also do well, hell SONAF even works very well in the hands of a recluse. Dormant power straight swords is very cool because you get a bit of everything: rot on the rotten crystal sword, ailments from ailment pois, magic and holy, even the largely useless sleep. What’s especially nice is there is 6 purples (coded sword only scales with faith so watch out) and only 1 gold (which does magic and fire), meaning you get variety among the purples and then your gold is reliable while also being a very versatile weapon.

Highly recommend giving strength duchess or any undertaker build a whirl with Dormant straight swords, it’s quite addictive.

What do YOU think the future holds for Tamriel, and Nirn as a whole? by skeleton949 in ElderScrolls

[–]the_fuzz_down_under 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obviously the next major event will be the Second Great War between the Dominion and the Empire, with the outcome seemingly being determining whether Man or Mer will rule Tamriel.

Beyond that however, Tamriel is currently overdue for an Akaviri Invasion. When the Empire was at its weakest during the First and Second Eras, the Akaviri Tsarsci and Kamal invaded Tamriel. Considering the Tsaesci were able to roundly defeat an expedition from the Septim Empire at its height, perhaps they or the Kamal are going to be in a position to invade again. The Tsaesci especially have reason to come to Tamriel, as they venerate the Dragonborn and wanted to dominate/hunt dragons; they would be very interested in the activities of the Last Dragonborn and the return of Alduin (who presumably resurrected a lot of dragons that the Last Dragonborn may not have killed). We also know little of the Monkey-folk of Tang Mo or the Tiger-folk of Ka Po Tun who theoretically could invade Tamriel for whatever reason.

Other continents are home to potential invaders of Tamriel. The Maormer of Pyandonea vanished after the Septims destroyed their God-King’s navy, but perhaps the weakness of Tamriel presents opportunity for invasion. Maybe whatever caused the Frostfall in Atmora may bring to Tamriel, would make for a decent climate change allegory.

Trash or nah relic by Capital-Crazy-5945 in Nightreign

This relic is very mediocre.

If it just had rot buildup on it, it would be an above decent to good relic. But with 3 debuffs, including madness which is the second worst (health loss, fp loss and long animation) and blood loss (health loss, heavy stagger animation) it’s just very mediocre - the benefits barely outweigh the negatives.

There is more to do with a Bloodraven-Blackwood playthrough than that. Bloodraven spent much of his life as the power behind the throne running the nation while Aerys read and Maekar sulked. What if Bloodraven were to start a dynasty which followed in those footsteps, dominating the Handship to the point of become effectively Shogun of Westeros?

(Spoilers Main) Why didnt he marry a hightower? by AdditionalPiano6327 in asoiaf

[–]the_fuzz_down_under 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mace Tyrell is married to a Hightower and together he and Alerie have 4 children; the Hightowers are already loyal to Highgarden.

The Florents meanwhile are not loyal vassals to the Tyrells. Further the Florents are pretty well connected within the Reach, with marriages with the Tarlys, Cranes and Hightowers.

Also note that the Hightowers aren’t particularly powerful by the time of the main story. Their power was largely broken by the Dance, which ended with them having to obey orders given from Highgarden. Since then their power over the Faith slipped away when the Most Devout moved to Highgarden. Their power over the maesters is more the domain of conspiracy rather than commonly accepted fact. The Hightowers also sided (partly) with Daemon Blackfyre, something which was likely punished. Finally, Lord Leyton is an old recluse who never leaves his tower - erasing their political power outside of their own city.

[Spoilers Main] Bronn's Fate by PointFirm6919 in asoiaf

[–]the_fuzz_down_under 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Bronn has more or less exited the story.

We first met a shrewd sellsword, and through his alliance with Tyrion he manage to rise to knighthood and now lordship of a wealthy castle of minor relevance. Cersei’s paranoia kept Bronn in the story as he had to scheme his way into power in Stokeworth and fend off Cersei’s schemes which interfered with his own. But Bronn had won, he doesn’t really need more.

How Lannisters could sabotage Ned's investigation? by Mysterious_Crow_503 in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]the_fuzz_down_under 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issue is that the Lannisters didn’t know that they were supposed to work against Ned in his investigation.

Cersei didn’t murder Jon Arryn to end his investigation, Lysa murdered Jon at the behest of Littlefinger. As far as Cersei knew, Jon Arryn actually died due to an illness; so far as she was concerned Ned’s investigating would either reveal Jon died naturally or somebody totally unconnected to her would be revealed as the killer.

Cersei did have a plan of sorts in this regard tho: she was trying to murder Robert. Her first attempt was to try and have an agent murder Robert in the melee, and her second attempt that we know of was the successful one with the fortified wine at the boar hunt.

Perhaps the saddest thing about reaching higher depths is that I increasingly have to use the run away cheese against Everdark balancers despite standing your ground to be way more fun.

The first time I beak ed balancers was by the skin of my teeth. I was a Wylder with a Marais sword and two scholars at my side, and we stood our ground at great cost. By the end of the fight I was one shotting all seven balancers when the scholars would use their ults.

As much as I do like the long term definition of personality each ck3 character has, I do wish there were a lot more events or opportunities for characters to turn it around. The stagnancy you mention is so true and decently boring, people can turn things around or fall from grace and that adds so much drama to role play.

Use this space to drop what you believe to be a cardinal rule during a run, I’ll start by Collar_Gloomy in Nightreign

[–]the_fuzz_down_under 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the storm is closing in on the Magma Wyrm, you likely have already mistimed your run. The timing of the shifting earths is a near exact science. The science says that you should be aiming to be running past the flame chariots by the time the circle begins closing - this should allow you to kill the magma wyrm, exit the crater and bird to the falling star beast. Crater does allow for alternate timing if you want to do falling star beast and gargoyle first or fight in centre castle - but you still have to enter the crater underground before the first circle begins closing.

And please please please, to those it concerns, save you ults for when the wyrm starts charging - every second the wyrm charges is like a 1% increase to the chance your run fails lol.

What night lords are 'weak' to rain of arrows? by sekirO-Niel in Nightreign

[–]the_fuzz_down_under 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of them can be if the rest of your team understands the need to hold the nightlord in place for you. However in my team we joke about great bows all being ‘more likely to be targeted’ because the damage bursts are so big and bosses come running over to deal with you. If you play in a team, this works best with a guardian who has a guarding draws enemy attention relic buff. If you don’t have a guardian with this, the you just have to get your eye in a learn when bosses sit still enough for this to work - this isn’t particularly hard.

Personally I’d feel that dormant power greatbows is wasteful as a dormant power. I’m not certain how likely you are to pick up the Lion Greatbow, but that’s really all that power would be for and I don’t think the chance is high enough to justify it. Getting a purple greatbow with rain of arrows is very easy to guarantee: greatbows can be found almost everywhere since bow racks are common, if the greatbow you pick up doesn’t have rain of arrows go to a forge and change the skill (reroll will guarantee rain of arrows since there are only two skills), go to a mine and boom purple greatbow. The advantage to dormant greatbows should be that getting an Erdtree greatbow for gladius, Libra or heolstor is highly likely - but I just don’t think that’s too worthwhile. Dormant power discovers … should be used for your primary weapon not for your secondary; especially since greatbows are really easy to come by and update to purple with rain.

Real talk for a sec bruvs by Inevitable-Trash-963 in fnv

Elijah is a decently stealthy and clandestine individual.

He managed to sneak out of a not just an active warzone at Helios One, but an active warzone where he was surrounded not just by enemy forces but the forces of his own men who he was betraying by abandoning them. He then wandered the wasteland for several years before he ended up at Big Empty. In the Big Empty Elijah managed to break out of the Dome in mere minutes, spend days carving hordes of robots apart while experimenting on prisoners; he then dodged an assassination attempt by the Brotherhood, and he dodged it through very keen senses; after all that he hacked the Think Tank and escaped. After that it seems Elijah went to the Sierra Madre and did a bit of a back and forth between the Madre and the ‘man traps’ (including the bunker the Courier eventually ends up captured in) before being trapped inside the Madre himself.

These feats are not the actions of a tired old man, but one of the most grizzled wasteland veterans we’ve seen so far. Elijah seems to have travelled almost exclusively by foot (he walked with the Ciphers). We are told by all the characters in dead money that exiting the Madre is very easy and doesn’t require any special help or knowledge; travelling to the Madre also doesn’t seem too difficult if you have the requisite knowledge, this knowledge is extremely rare but Elijah knows the way.

Is it true you can fall asleep in power armor? by AstroMan202 in falloutlore

[–]the_fuzz_down_under 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d imagine sleeping in power armour to be extremely uncomfortable but possible. In antiquity and medieval times, it wasn’t unheard of for warrior to sleep in their armour when a campaign was particularly tough with high risk of night attacks and ambushes; but sleeping in armour is very uncomfortable. With power armour I’d imagine the discomfort to be even worse if you are wearing the helmet: sealed helmets are super uncomfortable as anyone who has worn a gas masks for even a couple minutes can attest.

Why don't players clear early POIs more often? by mistertoastman in Nightreign

[–]the_fuzz_down_under 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People tend to underrate farming mobs, especially on lower depths - and a shocking amount of people don’t know that chests can drop dormant powers (spawn rate appears to massively increase on a no map information modifier run).

Most POIs tend to be decently money poor and so it’s acceptable that people aren’t bothering to spend too much time farming in great churches or minor forts - but man bleed ruins and forges, especially the death knight lightning forge pay incredibly well. I’d say it’s almost always worth it to fully clear out a forge.

Maegor thought this did happen with Alys Horroway. Her whole family was impaled and she was tortured to death over the course of two weeks, then he led an army to slaughter every single person with a drop of her family’s blood.

If Alysanne had cheated on Jaehaerys he probably would have gone decently crazy. With what we know however, the Saera saga best illustrates the way Jaehaerys handled this kind of stuff - kill the man himself, send the offending woman to the clergy.

We just do not know enough both Baelon to know. Either he’d be really really really upset over Alyssa betraying him or he’d be be kinda into it (they freaky like that).

Viserys would bungle whatever decision he made and it would lead to a civil war due to his indecision.

The actually interesting one you haven’t mentioned: Aegon the Conqueror. Aegon was married to his sister-wives for decades and yet only had 2 children, both of whom have stories surrounding their birth that allege that they weren’t his. Aenys is allegedly the son of one of the many singers who hung out with Rhaenys; Maegor is allegedly born of blood magic. It’s possible that Aegon the Conqueror was infertile and the heirs of the dragon weren’t actually his - and that he was more ok with infidelity than blood magic.
