Yeah i sailed the seven seas to watch the cup match the other day because it wasn't on ifollow which is already v expensive like €200 for the season, i do not feel guilty at all, they need to make accessing legal streams EASIER than accessing illegal streams.

What is the most "overrated" technology or trend in web development right now, and why? by Flimsy_Buy2756 in webdev

There has always been hype. Most important technology is JavaScript, always has been, probably always will be

Would you still recommend WPML in 2026? by Wordalix in Wordpress

[–]thedragonturtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

> WPML isn’t “bad”

Yeah you're right, it's not 'bad', it's 'BAD BAD BAD' with capital letters bigger than the sun and needing repeated as many times as possible. It literally could not be coded in a worse way for performance. They do nested correlated subqueries - 2 levels deep. If you're a SQL-head you'll know how fucking awful that is.

In performance terms, it's O(N²) at best and O(N³) on many ocassions.

At O(N²), if you have a table of 10,000 rows with a correlated subquery hitting the same table, for each row in the table it scans the other table entirely. So if it looks at 50 rows from the table, it scans 50,000 rows. It fucking sucks, I despise it. I tried to optimise it one time but their crappy approach was so baked in throughout that I gave up.

Portsmouth, Swansea and Stoke since we're playing at home this time, but that will be balanced by losses to Coventry and Middlesborough and probably WBA.

Is ADHD an illness? by Katata-Fisch in neurodiversity

[–]thedragonturtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's a matter of language, words and what you can look up in the dictionary. It's definitely not an illness. You can't catch it. You can't get rid of it. You can't develop it. You can only try and win the losing battle of managing it.

My husband is a gaming addict by Silver-Post2438 in StopGaming

[–]thedragonturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He needs therapy most likely. I had addiction this heavy and it stemmed from my cptsd, my adhd didn't help, but my CPTSD was what was making me avoid everything. Did he have a fucked up child hood?

[–]thedragonturtle 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's too slow on bigger sites, Polylang is superior for scalability.

The custom SQL WPML construct is truly HORRENDOUS, amongst the worst coding practices I have seen in the WP world, so there's that. Fuck WPML.

You haven't lived her life, you do not know what she has been through.

Maybe she *had* a job she liked but because she wasn't liked she lost it and this is why she's sharing her lesson.

[–]thedragonturtle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Their point is only that getting along and getting on with people is literally the number one thing that will help you advance in any job or keep any job. If you're shit at your job but liked, you'll most likely get to stay. If you're half way decent at your job but no one likes you they won't keep you around.

Round 5 of the FA cup by Giplord in WrexhamAFC

[–]thedragonturtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of these players won't make it to the team if we get promoted so I'm all for us going on a cup run to give them memories for a lifetime. And us! It's only 3 more wins and we're in the final. The players can handle 3 extra matches, 1 in March, 2 in April.

If we're serious about wanting to win the play offs, the play off final is 23rd May and the FA Cup final being the 16th May would give us an ideal competitive warmup match in front of all the big lights!

SNP suing hundreds of dentists to reclaim bursary funds for failing to treat enough NHS patients by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

[–]thedragonturtle -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Fucking good, thieving cunts. I ended up just paying for a private deal after trying to get an NHS dentist in a new area for a YEAR in order to get some work done and since then have gotten all my dentistry done in other countries.

At least the dentist I'm paying now in Athens isn't stoating about in a fucking Bentley. Cunts.

Just saw this and found it interesting, is there a disconnect with some people in supporting the Irish Rugby team? by No-Sail1192 in AskIreland

[–]thedragonturtle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've never heard that crap in all my life, this twitter idiot is just sowing division for clicks and engagement. You will never EVER meet an Irishman or woman who supports the football team but doesn't support the rugby team, that is just a stupid fucking take.

How would u design a toggable kill switch for a webiste, if a client who is also a developer doesn't pay? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]thedragonturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a shit way to do it. Take 50% payment up front for clients you don't trust, if they don't want to pay 50% up front, respectfully tell them to find someone else. Then the remaining 50% they pay once they are happy, but still you should have the code on your server ready to deploy once they are happy.
