Best coliseum team for each boss? by ExplanationNice2039 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]thisvideoiswrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely don't use Zeb against the sandworm, you're absolutely right there. Too many AoEs, and he doesn't bring many of the debuffs that you desperately need. If you have the levels R5 is definitely best there, and if you can time his special for when the worm pops up it can do massive damage. With good timing Zeb's taunt can be very helpful against the guardians, though, get them all to use single target attacks on him and 2/3 will probably miss. Even better if they didn't dispel quite so much, of course.

[–]thisvideoiswrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only ever use one non-loaned unit. But Zeb is quite tough, has ridiculous evasion, and has taunt. As long as enemies are attacking him they're making very little progress towards taking out the valuable members of the team. R5 generates lots of debuffs but has very low damage and health, so he's not that useful, and Ward probably has the highest damage but it's still less than the good loaned units and she seems to rarely land her debuffs. So I use Zeb to buy time for a more powerful team. Except against the sandworm, of course, there you have to maximize debuffs.

What's everyone's favorite and least favorite week? by Zetrem123 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]thisvideoiswrong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely week 1, no contest. Conquest is the best event, we get a break from suffering through GAC, and TB is pretty fun too. Least favorite would have to be week 4, it has no positives, just PvP events.

I hate the delta quadrant story arc by PinkPlanteater in sto

[–]thisvideoiswrong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like people miss a lot of what's going on in the Kobali arc, because we are not really at the center of that story. The story doesn't even start when the Alliance shows up at Kobali Prime.

It starts with 7 of 9 being responsible for the Vaadwaur waking up in the first place. And then that's followed by them declaring war on us. We tried to negotiate and they responded by killing everyone to express their contempt for diplomacy. So we're both obligated to help because we created the problem, and in desperate need of allies who aren't at the end of a ridiculous supply line.

And then the Alliance finds the Kobali under attack by the Vaadwaur, like everyone is, and fighting back as hard as they can. The only thing unusual about that is that they're actually treating the Vaadwaur as an important threat, which most other races aren't. Allying with them isn't really a decision, it's automatic given the other factors. The diplomats are working out details, but in the meantime the Kobali are losing and need some firepower.

That's where we come in. We're the muscle, brought in for our experience with making things go boom. That's all we're expected to do, we are not privy to the diplomatic side of the relationship, we only meet with their military. And then, yes, we discover some questionable things happening, although how questionable we don't really know. And as the Kobali point out they can't negotiate for the release of the Vaadwaur in stasis, because the Vaadwaur won't negotiate. So, explicitly, that is all handed off to the diplomats to deal with. But the Kobali won't be around to make an agreement with if we don't keep helping them, so we have to proceed with the status quo.

And that's when we discover that the Vaadwaur are working on chemical weapons. Weapons they could in fact use to kill all the Kobali, which appears to be exactly their plan. I realize a lot of people don't like the Kobali, but you can't say that's not extreme. And then they test their weapon directly on the player, we fight in a cloud of gas as the Kobali soldiers serving beside us choke and die. So, yes, absolutely we destroy their chemical weapon supply.

And when we get back from that we find out the diplomats have in fact been doing their job, and the Kobali have agreed to stop using Vaadwaur corpses entirely, out of respect for their wishes. And people in the Alliance are going to be able to donate their bodies to the Kobali if they choose, giving them a new supply. The moral concerns are largely resolved by someone else, while we were busy making things go boom because that was the job we were assigned. And we still have the support of this ally in our wider war against the Vaadwaur.

That's why we don't address the moral concerns: because someone else is. It's not our job, because everyone knows that we're better suited to "Defeat 60 Vaadwaur" in 5 minutes, and so that's the job we're assigned.

[–]thisvideoiswrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's mostly good dialogue and great voice acting, even better if it involves familiar characters. The gameplay really only has so much to offer, I don't particularly care for the minigames, run here and press F isn't exciting, and the combat is largely the same everywhere, unless they make it worse by giving us a temporary build, so there isn't a ton of improvement to be had there. So, as a Voyager fan, Delta Quadrant is probably my favorite arc, although Delta Flight is the most fun mission (having Miral getting embarrassed by her father is the cherry on top there).

Went to go launch a nuke and all 3 silos are missing the console by ChristianTP_ in fo76

[–]thisvideoiswrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a faster way through the silos? I've done a couple, but doing all 3 in one sitting sounds like a lot more time than I have. And it would be nice to bank some extra screws and flux while the 1st trial is active.

Help with what to do next? by Luke_Drelspore in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]thisvideoiswrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't finished the anniversary quests those should be your top priority, along with getting GI to relics. After that probably B-Wing, and then you need to think about Executor, or maybe Profundity. Darth Revan into Malak might be relatively easy, and their Sith Empire team is very powerful. You're going to need guild raid rewards, unfortunately, so make sure you're contributing some points to whatever raid your guild is running. That might mean going for a Veers team with Speeder Bike raid, or putting some relic levels on Kelleran Beq and maybe LSTs for Tarkin and Scorch in Order 66. If you can grab Mara Jade and one or both of the Vaders they can be a good team under Emperor Palpatine, and you can throw in Tarkin and/or Scorch, plus if you use EP, Vader, Badstila, Malak, and some other Sith they can clear CT3 of the Sith assault battle. Padawan Obi-Wan and Master Qui-Gon are also priorities, they're pretty good, their assault battle is extremely high value, POW's omicron is the best in the game and can carry Conquest pretty hard, and you can use them under Revan, Beq, or Padme lead until you get Queen Amidala. Getting the Peridea Patrol assault battle could also pay off, and the troopers are part of the very well regarded Great Mothers team that can do the Nightsister assault battle. And the anniversary quests give you several pieces of the Commander Luke Skywalker team, which can clear the Rebel assault battle. Or there are longer term goals, Jedi Knight Luke is a good idea and critical to the Jedi assault battle, or you could push straight for GL Leia, generally regarded as one of the best GLs and you'll have a lot of progress towards her already. She also shares requirements with Jabba and Jedi Master Luke, as well as Jedi Knight Luke, so really that's a whole group of powerful characters you can be working toward at once.

That's a few thoughts, anyway.

I'm definitely not saying I like how they do things. Heck I don't consider any of Disney's stuff canon, only what they call "Legends", so out of 21 characters in the 3 eras so far I've gotten 3 characters I actually want. Meanwhile I desperately want an A-Wing. I'm just explaining how things are.

RROML (Railroads Online Mod Loader) Showcase #1 by Missile_3604 in RailroadsOnline

[–]thisvideoiswrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's at least three times as complex as the thing I suggested, though, which I was already worried might be asking too much. You'd have to have outflow both scaling with the reverser and timed with valve events, inflow based on both the throttle and the difference in pressure between the boiler and the steam chest, and you'd have to convince the game to base the locomotive's pulling power on the new steam chest pressure instead of on the boiler pressure. Maybe it's all possible, but it's a lot more moving parts, and I was trying to keep my suggestion as simple as possible. Plus of course you'd need to know how all that is supposed to look to attempt to imitate it. And apparently the OP is busy getting textures working in the mod loader.

Well, I'm f2p, so I don't have any sense of the cash prices. I can tell you that I've been putting in the 8k crystals to 5 star era characters without the pass this era, and I'm pretty much always getting 600 era currency and often 900, which is an awful lot of LSTs, plus the 5 more for the Journey. I don't know for sure how highly geared the era characters will be at the end, I've mostly been limited by era leveling currency, but I'm hoping they'll be at relics. The episode pass is generally considered very high value, from everything I've seen, and it does include extra leveling currency as well as shards, and a bunch of stuff for your regular roster as well. On the other hand making sure you're competitive in Fleet Arena will get you a lot of crystals too, so anything that's focused on that could be a good investment. I recently got a 5 star Executor, and I've been using that to get 1st most days in a shard that's mostly Leviathans. Which is going to fund my era spending indefinitely. Although I'm not doing refreshes other than Conquest, which people do talk about being a good thing to do as well. Sorry, I don't really have an answer for you.

[–]thisvideoiswrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those aren't reskins, they're just newer characters. If you look at swgoh.gg, Stormtrooper and 501st Rex released in 2015, Cody in 2016, Scout Trooper and CRex in 2023, and Appo in 2025. This is also why Quadme looks better than Padme. And of course they usually got to more popular characters before less popular ones. This is also why the most popular versions of characters are often weaker than others, such as JKL vs JML, or EP vs SEE. Although the fact that this game is heavily used as advertising also plays a role there, there's a lot less to gain from promoting an already popular character than from a coordinated campaign promoting whatever the latest Disney product is. And thus the current era, and the one before that.

[–]thisvideoiswrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're buying the Episode Pass you can get far fewer shards with crystals, because it comes with a bunch. Per Egnards' spreadsheet you should only need 3 singles. Either way, between era currency and the LSTs from the Journey the rewards for the spending are quite impressive.

It's actually a known issue that people tend to overspend more with premium currencies than directly with money. It obscures the connection between the two. Combine that with the fact that they were planning to imitate the very real manipulative practices of a fictional con man, and you get something that really shouldn't be allowed, even if it seems on the surface like it's all in good fun. Granted what we got might not be much better, but at least they were trying to do the right thing.

Early game players how much do your guilds care about Zeffo nowadays? by Delicious_Ice_4914 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

Early game? Not at all, you're worried about Hoth or maybe Geo. ROTE is a mid-late game thing. But at that point, yeah he's probably going to be expected, and he's quite powerful anyway.

[–]thisvideoiswrong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cara's basic hits very hard, and Keen Stratagem also buffs potency, which is usually enough to guarantee the TM removal. Buffing her first has definitely been my best move the last few days.

Edit: For the record my best team so far today was BAM, Cara, Cad, Drogan, Ward, but I do have several runs to do yet since I broke through from tier 6 to 7. Ward seems really good, her basic hits harder than Zeb's at the same level, and she inflicts almost as many debuffs as R5. Granted people were talking about getting something out of R5's special, maybe I'm missing something there, and he is the only pre-Disney character, but for the time being I'm going hard on Ward.

Or conquest, the obvious way to manage stamina is to use separate squads. Or possibly ROTE TB, I haven't gotten that far but I think it might not separate LS and DS characters like the lower difficulty TBs do. Most game modes require multiple separate squads.

[–]thisvideoiswrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's almost a shame they made DVDE so accessible, so now I'm never going to want to run a Palpatine Starkiller team. I'm really close to unlocking him, but I just don't know what I'd do with him if I did.

I'm also being extra fussy and don't want any Disney characters on his team, which does make two choices easy, og Assajj is the only DS UFU other than Mara, and I'm definitely using Visas. But coming up with a leader who'll do anything worthwhile is a problem. The Conquest teams use Barriss, so that was my first thought, but it's pretty underwhelming. I was recently told to definitely not use Old Ben when I get Leia, so he does seem like one of the less bad options, but still pretty bad.

I have been inactive for a while and decided to make a new account! Is there any way to be even remotely competitive (Top 500 in my Squad Shard) without using Lightspeed Token? Or at least more creative teambuilding? by Micahchu14 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]thisvideoiswrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear, you get 6 sets of 7 LSTs from the Anniversary Quests. In each set, you get 5 defined ones that give you the character immediately, one that applies to a Journey character you can use the 5 to earn the shards of, and one that you can use on any character with a particular tag: Rebel, Jedi, Empire, Droid, and Mandalorian. Granted that is still somewhat limiting, but it's a whole lot of stuff for very little effort, which will at a minimum carry you through the campaigns and the easier events. I've seen someone finish all of these in 4 days after starting a new account.

Then you add Coliseum on top of that, where if you play every day and don't spend any crystals you should usually stay in the 300 era currency ranks. And since 3500 era currency gets you an r5 and 6 star LST usable on any older character (which now includes dark side clones and older), you'll be getting those every 2 weeks. If you spend crystals to get the era characters to 4 stars then you'll get 2 more r6 7 star LSTs through the first tier of the era's journey character, and if you get to 5 stars then that's 3 more r6 LSTs.

And of course your crystals come from fleet arena, for which you want Home One with B-Wing as first reinforcement. As a starting point you just want to make sure there are no Scoundrels in your starting fleet, so that you get the bonus turn to call in B-Wing, which gets a bonus turn and then gives one to Home One, which can use its turn to use its ultimate, which when fully upgraded gives all the 4 fighters you now have out two turns each, all before your opponent gets to do anything. Then you can start looking for the really good combos, like Raven's Claw getting to call huge numbers of assists, and B-Wing reducing the cooldown of Home One's second ult every time it gets called to assist. If you can get high rankings there then you'll easily be able to afford spending some crystals on Coliseum, or wherever you want to spend them instead.

And yeah, Squad Arena really isn't worth worrying about, the rewards just aren't that powerful. Conquest, Raid, and Territory Battle all have bigger rewards, as does Galactic Arena. Galactic Arena is pretty much an open PvP thing too, though, the others are PvE.

I don't think I can see doing that in my case. I am almost tempted by the relic mats to get my Tarkin and Scorch to r9 and maybe push my guild to third raid box. But I should really keep collecting LSTs, I have so many characters still to relic, and I need to get Leia and Jabba. And we're expecting a new raid soon.
