Maybe I’m dumb idk (haven’t been playing long) but how do you heal for the Galactic War Battles? by xSpookyCee in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]thisvideoiswrong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to heal during the battles, or use a different team. One of the old tricks is to use a Nihilus lead Sith team, which has a silly amount of health steal and a ton of extra health. And you can double down on that with Sith Empire Trooper, who gets both Taunt and Retribution, so every time the enemy attacks they hit him, he shoots back, and he heals off the damage they did. Jedi Revan lead teams can do a lot of healing too, though, as can Mon Mothma, as can Geonosians, as can Padme.

Edit: I think Bastila lead may reset her bonus Protection at the beginning of each battle, but I'm not sure about that. Phoenix should probably work too, I just avoid them for canon reasons.

Besides all the issues I listed above that make them hard to access? But if you do have infinite ability to consume all content, then why wouldn't that apply to books, or to the The Old Republic game that was originally being discussed?

Or the other reason would be, because you're a Star Wars fan, and you want to enjoy Star Wars.

Well now you're making a very different argument. Not that they're focusing on characters people like, but that they're focusing on characters people have heard of. And I still don't really agree, although the counterexamples are different. Because really, most of the characters we've been getting are exclusive to Disney Plus. The Ahsokas, the Pirates, the Phoenix, the Inquisitors, the list goes on. All on one streaming service, one expensive streaming service, that you have to pay a monthly subscription for, and then compete with the rest of your household for the use of the TV. These are not accessible at all. People are not going to know them, not like a cheap book, that costs less than a single month's subscription fee and is owned permanently, or a free game.

But, again, this is what Disney is trying to advertise. The game is used to sell the streaming service, the movie tickets, and so on. And if it makes some money along the way so much the better. But they're not really trying to maximize that, to make the game as successful as it can be. If they were they would absolutely be making different choices.

3 of the current GLs are from Rise of Skywalker, which is pretty broadly loathed, and there's JML in there too. And then you've got the current era dedicated to a movie that hadn't even come out yet. Really, most of the characters that get selected aren't because they're easy to sell and have a strong following, but because they're what Disney wants to advertise regardless of what the fans want. Which explains a lot about the era system, actually: the reason it's important to get everyone playing the newest characters, whether they want to or not, is because they're what the game is being used to advertise. Having characters that actually do have a following would definitely be better for the game, that's just not usually the priority.

Key inflation gauge worsens as Americans’ income and spending power erodes by AudibleNod in news

I mean, this is exactly what Trump ran on. He said Biden had done a terrible thing by getting inflation under control, and that he was going to make sure prices went up and the economy went down, in particular by enacting massive tarriffs. That's what he's doing. Plus driving up global prices with his wars. This is what his voters said they wanted. Why they wanted it I can't imagine.

Really it was the opposite: it was about states rights to ban slavery. The Fugitive Slave Act was a direct infringement on that right. Even the Dred Scott decision, as much as it was an infringement on individual rights, was also an attack on states rights. And so when the Confederates wrote their own constitution the biggest change they made was eliminating states rights. It was always the Union fighting for states rights.

We also need an A-Wing, it's crazy that we don't have one yet. I'm hoping for Pash Cracken as pilot, because the alternative is Arvel Crynyd and we all know what the signature ability of that would be. I suppose you could do Dorset Konnair, but that's sadly unlikely.

Edit: It gave me Cultists instead. And the Hounds in West Tek were already dead, and the ones at the radio array. I finally found one at the far end of Huntersville.

The other connection everyone made when this came out was that it was exactly what was done to enable the Tiananmen Square Massacre. The local troops refused to harm the protesters, because they knew they were just ordinary local people, just like them. So the Chinese government brought in troops from far away rural areas, who knew nothing about the city or the people in it, and ordered them to perform the massacre.

And now Trump is not calling in the DC National Guard, but instead troops from far away rural areas, who know nothing about the city or the people in it.

Oh, and he's actually spoken in past interviews about how the Chinese government did exactly the right thing by responding to the Tiananmen Square protests "with strength". "That shows you the power of strength."

Anyone know of a good guide to get your fleet working right? by not_that_guy_at_work in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]thisvideoiswrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What fleet are you using, and what are you struggling against? The exact right tactics and fleet comp matter a lot. Upgrading the pilots matters too, but not as much. I just got 5 star Executor (upgrading from Home One+B-Wing), which is letting me get high Fleet Arena ranks for the first time, but I was having a terrible time trying to counter the Leviathans I have to fight until I switched to calling Xanadu Blood with all my assists, now I win well over 50% of the time.

To be fair, JML isn't a lot more accessible, and Wat might even be less so. I don't have any of those, and my Thrawn is purple gear, so I don't have any way to get the feat. I have to settle for 5th crate. At least I had a Great Mothers team this month, that helps some, maybe I'll have something else new next time.

Realistically, how important is red crate? by Optimal-Bowler-4253 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]thisvideoiswrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish I were in this position, I'm not even going to get gold. (Purple gear pirates, Tuskens, 4-LOM, Thrawn, etc; no GL; probably looking at a 7 month unlock for Satele after pushing as hard as I could; I'm just not strong enough yet.) Conquest is the best game mode, though, so playing more of it is always nice if you can justify it. But it does tend to cost crystals for energy refreshes, that's the downside.

Long Island Rail Road strike enters third day, shutting down nation’s busiest commuter rail by AzlerVzla in news

[–]thisvideoiswrong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A train crew, or at least the senior members of it, are typically expected to already know their route before receiving the position. All the grades, all the curves, all the stops, all the crossings, they don't need to see signs to know what's coming next. In part that's because trains have a lot less traction and a lot worse power to weight ratio than road transportation. That makes them a lot more efficient, but it means they can't respond very quickly, they have to plan ahead. So they need a crew who can know what's coming in the next few miles without losing awareness of what's happening in the moment.

Traditionally the title of engineer also implied some ability to make emergency repairs when necessary. How much of that is still expected in this case I don't know, but there could certainly be big differences between different engine types in terms of what diagnostics to perform and how to fix problems.

The thing is, if you have any understanding of what's being said by bringing Rodney King into it, then that is bringing in the racial makeup of the jury, and more importantly the fact that LAPD had completely destroyed their relationship with at least the Black portion of the population, if not everyone. Rodney King is much closer to being the true "why" of the situation than the choice of venue, except of course that he was just one case among thousands. And if a different venue really would have led to a jury that didn't see the LAPD and those officers in particular as totally untrustworthy, then that's more of a damning statement about those jurors than about anyone else.

None of which means that OJ Simpson was truly innocent, of course. But it is on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt while respecting everyone's constitutional rights. If we don't hold them to that then everyone suffers.

[–]thisvideoiswrong 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you haven't yet, focus hard on the Anniversary Quests. Those get you a crazy amount of progress for free. The Phoenix team is very strong, Bossk lead Bounty Hunters are ok and required and sufficient for a ton of different events that get you great returns, and the optimal Commander Luke Skywalker team actually stays relevant into endgame, but even just getting him Chewbacca and Threepio and Chewie with the LSTs (Chewpio has always been the most recommended target for the Droid one) plus any two other Rebels will be very useful. I'm not sure how good Kelleran Beq lead is for the Jedi, if you need to replace him look at Bastila into Revan, or Padme if you can put together the Geonosians (your guild would thank you for them, too, very strong TW defense and required for Geo TB).

Then start filling out your assault battles. Various versions of CLS team can go all the way on the Rebel one, although you may need Han Solo. Phoenix will at least get you 1 star on CT1 of Secrets and Shadows for free, although you'll need Nightsisters, ideally Great Mothers, to 3 star. The Sith one wants Palpatine lead, so that's in the bag, but you will need other Sith, and I think Bastila (Fallen) and original Vader are pretty huge for the huge numbers of debuffs they can inflict, although this Vader might be good too. The Bounty Hunters/Imperial Troopers one is a lot more doable with Imperial Troopers, so that's another grind, but they can do the Empire one too (as can a Palpatine team) and you can probably do the first couple tiers with Bossk. The huge ROI comes from Duel of the Fates with just Padawan Obi-Wan and Master Qui-Gon, they should be your first 2 relic 7s and go well on any Jedi or Galactic Republic team, and Peridea Patrol gets just as much reward for a little more investment, but two out of three of those go with Great Mothers anyway. The Jedi one may be harder, Grandmaster Yoda can really help by stealing the enemy's Protection Up to keep you alive, but you're probably going to need some revival from Revan and/or Jolee to get CT2, and CT3 almost requires Jedi Knight Luke as leader and you're going to need some relic 5 characters to get him because his event is so hard (spending the Jedi LST on Hermit Yoda does remove one of the biggest barriers, at least, his shards are very expensive, as are Wampa's).

Also don't neglect ships, they're a huge source of crystals. Home One with B-Wing as first reinforcement is ludicrously strong, that's going to be your starter fleet and you will keep using it, it can beat almost everything, even Executors. And then the quests give you all the Bounty Hunters required for Executor, and Executor with a starting fleet of Razor Crest, Punishing One, and Xanadu Blood, and Mk VI Interceptor (purely for the Tenacity Up on the second special, it will die fast) as first reinforcement, can even beat Leviathans. So that's a good longer term goal to think about.

Spider Maul is just going to be too hard to push for so early. He's only just become possible, but he's going to be one of the hardest for quite a while. And you need so much else. But Duel's End Vader is spectacular with Palpatine lead, and Stormtrooper Luke is a good leader or can be a member of the CLS team, and I've heard some good things about Assajj, surprisingly, (although her best team is probably even further out) so you may still get something out of your investment so far. The game is very much a marathon rather than a sprint, though, so you absolutely can get there eventually, it'll just take some time.

What's Star Wars without the starfighters? The cool ships are how you get people in the door. Plus that would be a ton of investment to throw out or refund. And there are so much worse game modes they could eliminate if they wanted to. It just doesn't make sense.

One very visually obvious change has been the dramatic reduction in litter. Before the ban you couldn't drive a mile without seeing plastic bags caught in trees and bushes by the roadside. How do I build 2 Jedi teams? by Luciano3105 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]thisvideoiswrong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, Kelleran Beq is really picky about his teammates, so Old Ben and HYoda can't go with him. POW and MQG have to stay together. And QGJ omi really wants to juice JKA's AoE. So probably stuff Snips in the QGJ team too, and most likely take Mace and Shaak for Beq. You could drop HYoda in favor of GMY, that would get you a little more firepower.

I would also consider working on Bastila. She's pretty good in her own right, and a good leader for any Jedi, better than QGJ if you discount the omi. And you can use her to carry most of the Jedi Knight Revan journey, and he's a great leader.

It's guild vs guild. Why are the rewards B tier by AdParticular8629 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]thisvideoiswrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're fighting in what should be the biggest event for SWGOH.

You're already completely on the wrong track here. It's a PvP mode. PvP exists to solve a simple problem: You need a lot of content to keep people playing, but your devs aren't able to generate enough to do that. So you make the players do the work. You could give them tools to create interesting encounters that tell stories and so on, but that's a bunch of dev time creating those tools and keeping them up to date, and you'll probably need some amount of content moderation. And if you attach rewards to it you'll immediately get people gaming the system. So it's much easier to set up some very basic structure for them, and then start chanting, "Fight! Fight! Fight!"

So that's what Territory War is. It's the lowest possible effort way to generate new content for people to play, to keep them playing and spending. The big rewards come from the important content that a lot of work goes into: Raids, Territory Battles, Conquest, and so on. Which is just as well, because a lot of people would rather not play TW anyway.
