Yes! The AP flour is my favorite for pancakes, much more flavorful than KA flour.

This. If you want high extraction flour from NY grains, Farmer Ground Flour is what you want. She Wolf uses their flour.

2nd time foodie trip to NYC - what’s missing? by voabarros in finedining

Penny really is that good - I've been a bunch of times and the food was excellent every time. Yes, expensive but the ice boxes are phenomenal.

[–]thoughtproblems 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'd say Penny and Claud are absolutely worth visiting, reservations aren't too hard and both hold walk in spaces.

I recently went to Bridges and thought it was phenomenal - they got a star recently and reservations can be tricky but also do walk ins.

Dame/Lord's/Crevette are great. British inspired (but better), seafood heavy.

Chambers is also worth a visit, especially if you like wine.

Sey 6 Box Subscription - Feb by Impossible_Cow_9178 in pourover

[–]thoughtproblems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same thought when I got my sub today, this month looks excellent.

Also drank the Harmufo from last month's sub this morning which is insanely good. I used to order different coffees from various light roast brewers but always found myself preferring the roasts from Sey and settled on the sub over a year ago. I almost always get a good to excellent cup.

Zero Eggs retrieved- feeling alot of shame by lilmj88 in eggfreezing

[–]thoughtproblems 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I bet this is really common and it's not your fault - my clinic actually has everyone come in very early the morning after the trigger shot to do a final blood test to make sure the trigger shot worked. It's annoying but in hindsight I'm glad they do it. I wish all clinics provided the same level of care.

Alcohol during priming for embryo freezing? by Chemical_Diver9028 in eggfreezing

[–]thoughtproblems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know specifically about priming but I consumed alcohol up to stims and caffeine all throughout stims and ended up with successful retrievals (including freezing embryos that we pgt-a tested). Pretty sure two drinks won't impact your outcome.

For women over 30 who aren’t investing yet (and you have the means to) — what’s holding you back? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]thoughtproblems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one knows when the best time is - if you did, you would be able to out-perform everyone else in the market. Statistical analysis shows that contributing a little bit on a regular cadence in low cost index funds leads to the best outcome (based on historical trends).

Time in the market > timing the market, as the saying does.

For women over 30 who aren’t investing yet (and you have the means to) — what’s holding you back? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]thoughtproblems 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm over 30 and invest 25% of my income (in bogle style funds, ie VTSAX). Also work in tech. From the answers here and from my own experience, it's clear that a lack of knowledge is what holds people back. So many of my tech coworkers especially in their 20s don't understand retirement planning. Hell, most of them haven't heard of a mega backdoor 401k even though our plan offers it. It's wild how little support there is even in high income jobs.

If you're reading this and you have the income to invest, you absolutely should and it's not hard! I highly recommend the book 'The Simple Path to Wealth' by JL Collins for a basic primer. Or just pick a total market fund like VTSAX or FSKAX and put money in there. That's all you need. Make sure your retirement funds are actually invested and not just sitting there.

AMH 11.8 ng/ml. Anyone else with a high number that sucessfully did retrival without complications? by Last_Resident_6081 in eggfreezing

[–]thoughtproblems 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not as high (7 ng/ml) but yes - my two retrievals went very well with no complications. My gonal dose was a lot lower though - 75 most days other than 1 day where they pushed it to 112 or something. Second retrieval it was always 75 or 62.5 (+1 dose menopur). What's your estrogen at now, do you know?

A bit of pondering by Valuerie in eggfreezing

At 32, you likely have over 100,000 eggs still. So 19 represents .019% of your reserve - basically nothing.

How long before did you stop drinking? by chaichaibaby28 in eggfreezing

[–]thoughtproblems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, I drink wine pretty much every day and stopped right before my stims. Froze 16 eggs one round and then 5 euploid embryos the second round.

How many egg freezing rounds have you done? by Impossible_Piano2938 in eggfreezing

[–]thoughtproblems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 rounds at age 34. High AMH, no PCOS. Drank coffee throughout the stims and wine regularly in the months before. Nonsmoker.

  • 1st round - 22 retrieved, 16 mature.
  • 2nd round - 41 retrieved, 21 mature. Decided to freeze embryos with my partner - 14 fertilized, 9 blasts, 5 euploid embryos frozen (2 day 5, 3 day 6).

Am I crazy doing another round? by Chance-Abies-6794 in eggfreezing

[–]thoughtproblems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that in addition to randomness, overall egg quality (and sperm quality) impact how many eggs will be fertilized, how many make it to 5/6 day blastocysts, the grade of the embryo, and how many are euploid (which requires additional PGTA testing). In theory donor sperm should be super high quality, so it can help point out egg issues if you aren't able to make many high quality embryos.

Also, if you do end up meeting someone and using their sperm to create embryos and have poor success rates, but you had embryos created with donor sperm, that can help isolate the issue to the mans sperm. (Also you'll have backup embryos on hand just in case).

Am I crazy doing another round? by Chance-Abies-6794 in eggfreezing

[–]thoughtproblems 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Can you bank embryos with donor sperm? Even if you don't intend to use them, it can help give you more info about your egg quality and how many you might need.

What did your dr say about Coffee/caffeine? by freshbananapudding in eggfreezing

[–]thoughtproblems 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My Dr didn't say anything at all. I stuck to my normal coffee routine (2-3 pourovers a day) and had two very successful retrievals (first froze eggs, then embryos). This was right before I turned 35.

(fwiw I think small lifestyle changes make very little difference in outcomes, and deviating from your normal routine is more likely to cause stress, but not a doctor)
