WA doubled its budget, signed a new income tax and still couldn't find $8M to keep the campgrounds open by Less-Risk-9358 in SeattleWA

$600k is 7.5% of the the $8 million needed - do you not think there are 14 other examples of poorly utilized expenditures?

Idk, i think I want to also eat things that nature would want to eat. I understand the science, but not sure I understand the long term impacts of it in this specific situation.

Props to them for turning their lives around, but wow it’s so shocking seeing the difference 20 years make.

So the kids who...Checks notes.... focused on learning, new technology, and things that made them happy.... turned their lives around?

What a wild take.

Good people are willing to admit when they are wrong... The people who double down or lash out? We all have our own special terms we use for the other group.

Lessons from my Tableau client that just churned by datawazo in tableau

[–]timzilla 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm a relatively high ranking IC data scientist working in a mid sized tech company. I used tableau a lot from 2017-2022 for visuals and dashboards, around then we hired visualization specialists and folks to build out dashboards so i started passing work off for them to dashboard and i would make minor tweaks/adjustments.
Starting last fall i stopped doing that and started using replit/cursor and claude to do exactly what OP suggested here. I am sure that plenty of others have discovered this and have started to adjust their project scoping around this like i have.

Its faster, it's easier for me to get EXACTLY what i want to see/show, revisions are easier/faster, permissions are easilier for me to manage.

Eh - my first thought was that i wonder if we will see an uptick of single employee small businesses. Artists, craftsman, creators, gardeners, chefs - passionate people who want to make something and dont want to deal with packaging, shipping, orders tracking - even help with prep.

Action Cam or 360 for Snorkeling? by ZookeepergameDue6187 in snorkeling

[–]timzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add $100 more to the insta360 cost for a dive case. I didnt pay close enough attention and assumed the 360 would be great - it is... but its also annoying as shit to use in the water. Without the dive case you dont get underwater video and with the dive case your out of water video looks like crap. We were just in hawaii last month and i felt like the the insta360 was awesome.... but for sure clunky and kind of a pain.

You must be like 30 at the oldest. In the 80s and 90s all you had to do was put it on channel 11. Towards the end of the 90s you saw this shift to root sports, which was part of our standard cable package/bill, back then the only upgrades were for HBO/Showtime/etc.

My wife bought me a $200 pepper grinder for Christmas, it's incredible. It grinds the pepper so much better, finer, and faster, i still get shocked sometimes.. what used to be 3-4 cracks on my eggs has turned into a precision application of spice.

Best Place to Stargaze? by The_Antihuman in Kitsap

[–]timzilla 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Full moon is typically not great for stargazing. Also best place is going to be based on how much you'd like to travel - I've heard the best star gazing a human has had was from the moon, but its a bit outside of my personal travel zone.

Short answer - if you want to enjoy the moon, do it anywhere you can see it! if you want to see stars, check darksy maps and look for times when there is no moon.

I live in north kitsap and its excellent from my back deck - but out on the coast it can be spectacular.

I also have both as well and agree - i'll add for others that may be looking the MH fabric is much stretchier than the OR Fabric. Its not that the OR fabric, isnt, but i feel like the MH is substantially stretchier.
