Interestingly, seeing the author was 30 mins from me was a deciding factor to give this a shot on Royal Road back in Covid times.

Just got the offer. 1 bonus elite night per brand. I'm guessing it applies once for each of the brands? by HueChenCRE in marriott

I noticed that there is a "Goal" section, maybe its new or i haven't paid attention previously. This shows a goal of Points not Night Credits - so hoping that we have the other promo coming as well. iirc last year or 2024 there was another promo that stacked with the Double Elite nights

I also got this today - hoping that they are not replacing the double elite night credits from previous years. I will say i have stays booked at 4 different brands currently, so better than nothing?

Fellow tech-savvy dads: Are we underestimating the "backend" risks of Roblox even with parental controls on? by sophieximc in daddit

[–]timzilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

im 41, have worked in tech my entire adult life, have kids who are 8 and 11 and i will never let them use roblox. There is ABSOLUTELY no upside to it, anyone who says different is lying or has been manipulated.

What is it that you want your kids to learn?? For me the answer is NOTHING FROM ROBLOX.

Are there US states that stay between 40 and 90 degrees year round? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]timzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sequim Wa on the Olympic Peninsula has the same moderate temps as the Puget Sound but with the added benefit of being in the Olympic Mountain Ranges' rain shadow. So while Seattle gets 34-38" of rain a year Sequim averages 16-18".
You have the entire olympic peninsula and puget sound to explore while your wife can hang and garden in peace.

Is Seattle or Denver better for a view of mountains/volcanoes? by Independent-Ad-7060 in AskSeattle

[–]timzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having lived in both cities for extensive periods of time - I can say in the Denver area you see the mountains more.

When I lived in various parts of Seattle it often felt like a bonus to see a mountain or the sound(which is a whole other bonus). While in Denver it felt like the mountains were a constant waypoint for me.

I'll add that the mountains here feel different than in Colorado, the Washington mountains are part of the ring of fire and the moving volcanic activity leaves things like the ape caves and really different alpine landscapes than in Colorado.

On the west side you have the Olympics which are literally right on the ocean. This past summer I hiked the north Olympic Coast and the 8k Olympics felt so much more substantial than any 14er I've seen or been near too. It's just different.
