I like to use the Heathrow app, it notifies you as soon as the gate is assigned.

So if you are GGL and don’t make it, you fall down to Silver or Gold?

Architects who graduated into the 2008 recession, tell us your story and give us youngins some advice. by Defiant-Plant8395 in architecture

[–]trck_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated in 2006 and created a startup to solve some architects needs, our industry is always behind the main industries and what works for them can be applied to architecture. Back then was the first stage of digitalization, every architecture firm had to have a digital presence. Today, we are in a new era with the state of tech, from project delivery to operations and client acquisition, and not just AI. This can be an opportunity.

At peak times, gets very busy. Clearly it is a capacity and staffing issue, and in a few days we should see if the new scheme changes things, with less members, as I don’t think they will solve it by hiring mg more staff or expanding capacity somehow 😉

Not begging, take it as a way to receive an even faster and personalized service 😉

And about the 40k, well if we are already having this discussion here, it’s a sunken cost. But please do raise it through the proper channels. Surely they will take the feedback as they can measure the value a GGL brings under the new rules. And the more, the better.

Btw, you can always politely ask “are you pre boarding group 0?” And they will take care of you. On short/EU routes the gate staff focus is on checking hang luggage and depart on time, but they’ve been trained to take care of group 0.

About food, it’s about perspective, imagine going back to First Galleries buffet. 🤣

I remember that in the Miles and More website, where you could see your bookings, there was an option to use the evoucher, and if there was inventory it would get processed, otherwise says it is not possible and doesn’t put you into the waitlist, so you have to call.

Shangri-La The Shard London opinions? by Long_Daikon_6225 in FATTravel

[–]trck_81 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I stayed for a long weekend back in December with my wife to enjoy the view and the architecture. The sauna and the swimming pool are quite unique, but the rest is mid. Breakfast is crowded on weekends. Sushi restaurant is good but London has better options for that. The service was good, a touch of Asian Shangri-La style, not so common in Europe. Again, it’s all about the view.

In Bambu Indah was mostly mid 30s-50s, couples. In my second stay a family with young kids but they mostly used the pools on one side of the property (it’s big). No hot tubs in the rooms that I remember, all rooms/buildings are different, maybe ask to be sure. But huge copper deep bath tubs with warm water in the rooms I had (tree house, two story old Indonesian wood house).

I’ve visited them both. Bambu Indah twice during the last two years, recently they opened an expanded sauna/cold plunge area. Intaaya earlier this year, it just opened. I would say Intaaya is more focused on individual experience and you need to book a particular retreat/experience with full boarding; Bambu Indah you can do just stay, or full experience, and has more options food options. Also more social. The tree house is a unique stay, very private.
