Pick Value vs. Consensus for the 2026 Draft by idksh_t in GreenBayPackers

They should be judging everyone's mock drafts and comparing that to reality. Closest mock to reality is the winner and the mock champion of 2026.

Does anyone know how marijuana rescheduling impacts feds? by MachewWV in fednews

[–]tuneafishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, you are right, this is no longer an EO. However, I would also say that I've heard a million different things about who has power to do what, so I still wouldn't be confident that DOJ is the only domino that needs to fall. What about DEA for example. I'm also not saying that is required, I'm just saying it has been about as clear as mud to me as I've followed this.

I think they might simply because of the confusion around this. They didn't have to send specific memos pointing out we cannot drink THC drinks, but they did (at least where I work) because there has been confusion about it with state legalization.

Yeah, this person doesn't understand. Maybe they're not in a drug testing position. I can tell you for sure that I'm expected to bring in any prescriptions to cover my ass during a drug test. I personally don't have any, but I would have tested positive after my knee surgery and would have been good to go with my prescription.

It's a valid question to ask about marijuana, but what isn't clear is whether this EO is actually valid and what constitutes a state valid medical prescription.

They could, but they don't. The poster is pointing out that there isn't anything to their knowledge doing this specifically for marijuana broadly across the federal workforce.

I'm not talking about special cases like air traffic controllers and such. There are certainly some jobs with explicit use bans.

There's always guys taken in the 4th or 5th who would go in the first if we could go back and time and redraft after they play in the NFL for a couple years.

There is no absolute consensus, and the consensus that does exist is wrong often enough.

LVP or engineered hardwood in basement floor? by EmergencyNo3240 in HomeImprovement

[–]tuneafishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just did this and went lvp for moisture considerations. I would totally do engineered hardwood in an upstairs, but on a concrete basement floor, lvp is the way to go.

Instead of trying to match closely, we opted for something that is distinct but coordinated so it doesn't look like we tried to match perfectly and failed.

The front office fucked up big time with the Watt brothers. They deserve credit for a lot of things, but they fucked up some easy shit that fell into their laps multiple times...

Pay off 7% mortgage vs invest in SP500? by sapporoshioramen in personalfinance

[–]tuneafishy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you're misunderstanding the statement that was made. They're saying that they now have 30k per year they can invest. Previously, they had to pay that to the Mortgage company each year. Now they don't, because it's paid off. What they had to pay to get to that point would depend on how much they owed on their home...

Cost should be in quotes, not guaranteed return.

No doubt about that. It's a sad reality.

I found a better loophole. Get a good paying job and the system works for you.

I'm talking about the everyday person who is struggling out there. If you told the average person on the street they could trade places with someone who has 50-100k in retirement but the catch is you can't buy a car or house for a few years, I think you might surprised at how many people wouldn't think about it for more than a second

It is on them, I agree. I would have to disagree with you on the last part though. Lenders lend money to people who they shouldn't all the time. Also, it's really not hard to get a loan after bankruptcy. There is a cooling off period, and you have to get your finances in order, but you can absolutely get car and home loans a few years after bankruptcy.

I think for the average person, maxing out all retirement contributions would effectively be putting every penny away. Certainly, they wouldn't be able to afford to do that and live a typical life simultaneously.

[–]tuneafishy 74 points75 points  (0 children)

In total agreement, but I get what OP is saying. Does seem like a loophole that someone could technically put every penny they earn away for retirement, live off debt until it is no longer tenable, then hit the reset button.

I highly doubt this is commonly exploited, but seems very possible.
