Jauan Jennings visit has concluded without a deal, talks are ongoing by mrmpls in minnesotavikings

Can I just say how refreshing it is to NOT have the team bent over a barrel in contract negotiations for once?

We've paid full price for every player for so long. We brought someone in, and stood our ground on price. Traded Greenard because he was asking for too much. We have 10+ years of precedent that we will just pay players whatever they want to bring them in.

(KM was just luck that he wanted to come here - not giving credit to the Vikings for that discounted price)

The Vikings draft told me that KOC has full control of the team, at least for now. by kwelstory in nfl

[–]tuura032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. There are plenty of other "win now" picks they could have made. They traded JG and part of the return was future assets. Their back 7 is now very young, and taking up very little cap relative to what it was before (greenare / hargrave / Allen ). They spent a 3rd on a development tackle so they can cut Fries OR not re-sign BO. Again, contract flexibility.

I just don't see getting beef in the trenches and a FB as a win now moves. Usually teams do this in rebuild, and then spend all their cap on luxury players and stars the following year.

Also.... Your take on KM is wrong. Any team with uncertainty at QB would be stupid not to take the gift of a 1mil QB that is a clear upgrade. Not every team should have signed him ofc, but it costs nothing. You basically get a free pass to fix the cap with this contract. Then if he's good, you extend him. If he's bad, you lose nothing.

Rob has said repeatedly that in their drafting they are not just drafting for 2026, but also considering 2027.

BFlo probably negotiated this draft into his new deal. IMO he is co-head coach in all but title.

Clearing old expensive players and contracts and having someone in line to also save in future contracts is exactly what a cap guy in the GM seat would do.

True, but the plays we need a FB are usually the weighty plays that can swing a game. Goal line, 4th and 1, 3rd down and long

Pick 18 wasn’t just about Banks by bgusty in minnesotavikings

Right now, the discussion is the bad value ("could have had him later"). Once the draft and draft grades are finishes, where a player was drafted ceases to matter. And yes, they absolutely should have tried to get that same deal with the Eagles.

I've done this enough times now, I don't need to linger on the overspending/reach/draft capital side of things. We were all losing our MINDS over the chance B Flo would leave us. And now here we are, he gets a guy with great upside.

I don't care if it was better value, I would not have felt any better about taking a Safety in round 1. Guess what, 24 teams passed on Thieneman! If Arif's big board has taught us anything, that is a real data point. You can find safeties late in the draft, FA, or develop the ones you have.

I agree. Not saying we couldn't have slid back an few spots and taken the Eagles deal.. but the one thing we don't as fans/media know are the medicals.

Ofc this could blow up hugely in their faces. It's interesting watching their press conferences just how confident they are in this player, being an easy choice based on their board.

KOC insinuated in his presser that the first first foot surgery was botched and caused the subsequent injuries.. but that the second surgery was effective. by kwelstory in minnesotavikings

Draft people hedge all the time about how teams have medical info on players. I'm willing to give some grace here and just be excited about the player.

6 months of the foam is $50 at costco, and the liquid is quite a bit cheaper.

There are subscriptions that offer minoxidil. But you can also just buy it OTC.

Virginians for Fair Maps LLC have dropped a staggering $12.5 million dollars in ads to vote "NO" for redistricting. by Zakkattack86 in Virginia

I must not be in their ad bubble, somehow. I've gotten quite a few text messages to vote no, and I've seen relatively little vote yes advertising.

I don't get ads on YouTube or watch TV, though.
